I entered a cave to mine a node where another player was killing something and when they killed it, it gave me credit for the kill as well.
Quote from GM:
The quest npcs like this in Warlords can be tapped by multiple "groups" this means that if you are near them when someone else engages it and you end up on his threat list it is going to give your character credit for the kill.
To which I claimed, "but I had vanished, left combat." GM replied:
I understand but the character would still be on the monsters threat list as it was engage in the threat list of that kill. It only would have reset if the monster had reset.
I asked if all quest mobs in WoD behave this way. GM replied:
Most of the ones that there is only one spawn of will, some rares will behave the same way as well.
Therefore, once a pacifist enters WoD, you not only have to avoid mobs, but also avoid other players fighting unique mobs.
I understand this as a feature to help normal players by reducing quest spawn bottlenecks. That is, 2nd person to arrive can join in and move on without waiting for quest mob to respawn or reset. This feature should be avoided at all costs by pacifist challengers.
When I arrived, I waited until they had engaged the mob before breaking stealth and tapping the node. Doing so added me to the agro list, and credit was shared to all on the list. While waiting for someone else to engage the mob works to avoid kill credits in all previous expansions, WoD is substantially different.
The irony of quest details is that the quest involved is named Forbidden Love. This occurred during Love is in the Air holiday event. In the air, indeed. #tinyfist
