I decided to try a experiment leveling up a pacifist without professions. Doing so I did realize that the only way to do so without waiting for holiday events and just doing dailies. Would be to do quests while they where yellow at least to get max XP value from them and exploring everything possible at level. Finding all the different sub zones in a area that gives XP is vital. So it does require allot of jumping around between the different starting zones to do everything possible at your level at that moment. I started of as a NE rogue so I ran to Dolanaar exploring as much as possible on the way there. did then go to Stormwind asap. There are 3 quests in the town that are level 2-3 so all are yellow. There after I ran to the gnome starting zone, main reason being it is the only starting zone that has sub zones that gives xp. So perfect to do at low level. All other starting zones gives zero XP. After clearing the Gnome area it becomes a explore as much as possible until you reach level 4. That is when you get the quest to go from starting area to Dolanaar, Goldshire and Kharanos. Can always do the Human, NE and Gnome version of it. After that it all becomes keeping track of quests possible to do and when they turn green. So you do them in the correct order. Some of the quests I had to more or less wait until someone else was doing the quest to safely be able to complete a pickup quest. So it is sometimes a waiting game. Then at level 8 close to 9 I did notice I had a problem finding quests and areas easily explored. That is when I decided to scout a way to get to Durotar to get some more exploration XP and the 1 pickup quest that is for ratchet goblins in that zone. There are sub zones on the Echo Isle that gives XP as info. Avoided Valley of Trials and Ogrimmar, just to big a risk. Razor Hill also has level 105 patrolling but found a blind spot. I believe I got approximately a half level doing Durotar. After this I scouted a way to get to Tirisfal Glades. So to get there I did swim from Ratchet to Theramore, did then take the boat to Menethill Harbor. Then it became a cats and mouse game with the sharks until I reached Gilneas there are sub zones in the area that gives XP so I did them. Then after that did swim on to Tirisfal Glades, avoiding aggressive fish. There where no bigger problems clearing sub zones in the area, with the exception of Deathknell and Scarlet Monastery. At this point I was level 10, so I decided to start to clear Silverpine Forest. It was surprisingly easy to clear the zone with the exception of The Sepulcher. After clearing it I wanted to see if I could get to the Ghouls versus plants quest easily and it was. Should at least be easy enough to get to as a level 20, when the quest chain becomes available. I got there from Ambermill there is a path just north of it to Dalaran crater that leads to the farm where the quest is located. So wasn't even close to any high level hostiles in Hillsbrad Foothills. I wanted to check if it was possible to swim to Blood elf starting zone bu it isn't there is only portals to get there. The one in Eastern Plaguelands and the one inside Undercity, so both are impossible to reach and use at level when the xp for exploring the area is worth while. So after doing these 4 zones I was in a much better position quest wise and exploration wise again. So more or less leveled up to 15 doing quest and exploration in those zones, did go and cleared out Northern Barrens and Azshara as well. I did do the Hogger quest in Elwynn Forest at level 14 the quest is still yellow at that point, the adds de spawn when you have to dps Hogger down to low health. I just activated my avoidance ability when they spawned didn't take much damage. Just made sure to upgrade my weapons before doing it. So at the moment I'm level 15 done a few quests in Redridge Mountains, cleared that area until the mobs are 3 levels higher then me then I stop to trust my stealth. Can still do a bit more in Loch Modan, and clear a bit more in Northern Barrens, Darkshore and Bloodmyst Isle.
My experience so far doing this challenge is that I really need to be on my A game all the time. Have to do everything at level or higher, does make it challenging. Also not having professions does make the financial side of the game extremely difficult considering the limited amount of quests you can do. Luckily there will open up some dailies later that will most likely be the way to get some cash flow. Have at least started to pick pocketing everything in sight since I got to level 15. I can not stress the importance of having a scout to see if doing things are possible.

Night Elf Rogue is a good choice since you actually move faster when stealthed. ... That is when you get the quest to go from starting area to Dolanaar, Goldshire and Kharanos. ... You didn't mention Azuremyst Isle which has one of those quests also. The zone also has several pacifist friendly quests. The totems chain, the goblin traitor chain, relics gather quest, the missing fisherman and escort(if she kills a mob does that count against you?), red snapper. Did you explore the Ironforge Airfield? Takes some exploring, but you can get there by walking. Don't know how I feel about Pacifists intentionally engaging in combat (I never equipped a weapon or even placed attack icons on my action bar, the goal being to do zero damage), but since you are very limited without professions, I suppose non-fatal combat could be accepted. I really like this idea, as I believe your goal is not to reach max level, but to see just how far you can get with those limitations. Thats the basic inspiration for my naked petless Hunter. Good luck, interested to see how far you can get. P.S. Is there any advantage to rested bonus if you don't kill or do profession gathering? Don't think so but thought I'd ask.

Just a small update my character died at level 18, so it will take a while to get back to the same level. Doing it slightly different, since it had become difficult to get xp and had to take big risks. I will be redoing the weekly quest that exists from level 1 The Emerald Dreamcatcher. Considering doing that until I reach a decent level say 5 then clearing up some other quests. Because of the nature of this quest I decided to change realm to a extremely high population alliance realm. That way there is always someone there during prime time to clear a path. The quest is level 6 but obtainable at level 1. So started 8 characters and will see how many that will survive to level 5, just doing this quest weekly. Had no problems first week.

Quick revision of my plan. Will be doing the weekly until level 4, then going to Stormwind to do the 3 quests there. Since they turn green at level 5. Will then continue doing the weekly until level 7. Will at that point do the 4 quests that are from different starting zones to Goldshire, Dolanaar, Azure Watch and Kharanos. Those quests would turn green at level 8. Believe at this point I should start doing some general questing and exploring to not get diminishing returns. Doing it this way, I don't think I will not become quest and exploration starved. That was the problem on my first attempt. As long as I can reach level 20 there is always a daily quest available, as a catch up option.

Seems Blizzard has fixed The quest "The Emerald Dreamcatcher" it is no longer a weekly quest. So this has spoiled my plan a bit did manage to get up to level 5 just doing this quest. So will have try and see if that is enough for me to reach level 20 without any problem. That is the major hurdle to get to the first possible daily quest. Don't wish to be stopped in a spot where I have to wait for a holiday event to continue.

Seems Blizzard has fixed The quest "The Emerald Dreamcatcher" it is no longer a weekly quest. I'm not a fan of doing dailies or seasonal quests, but I allowed myself to do "The Emerald Dreamcatcher" once a week. Just did the quest for the first time this past week on my new naked Warrior so I'm glad I won't be tempted to do it a second time.

Seems "The Emerald Dreamcatcher" has become a weekly again. Strangely enough.

I think one of the quests at Gol'Bolar Quarry is also a weekly, but i don't remember if it requires killing or not.

Hello!! I decided to start a no-professions paci, mostly to see how far I can get before running out of quests, and thought I'd share a bit of my journey so far... I went with a Night Elf Rogue for Shadowmeld and for Outlaw's Find Treasure ability. I just hit level 10 after 2 days (about 8 hours /played). Some quests were much riskier than others, and some I wouldn't have been able to do if I didn't have Shadowmeld. Probably the scariest quests I did were the two in Gol'Bolar Quarry in Dun Morogh (Priceless Treasures and The Public Servant). The quests are located in a cave FILLED with Troggs and apparently no one quests there anymore (I waited lol) so all the mobs were up. I just took it slow and managed to make it out alive. The most pointless thing I did - though kinda cool - was travel to the Ironforge Airfield by foot. You have to go into New Tinkertown and climb your way on top of the mountain, then travel toward Ironforge. There are Dwarves sledding down the mountain which was super cool to see 'cause I had no idea that area even existed. I almost fell off a few times and when I finally got to the airfield and discovered it, I didn't even get XP for it! But I'm sort of a completionist so I had to do it.. I use the addon Wholly Grail which keeps a list of my completed quests so I listed those below by zone. The order is by recommended level (though I think most can be done 1-2 levels below) and not necessarily the order I completed them. I really went all over the place, hopping from zone to zone, and did exploration in-between questing. Explored Zones: Teldrassil, Azuremyst Isle, Elwynn Forest, Dun Morogh, and Moonglade. I stepped into Loch Modan and Darkshore, but haven't done any questing yet. I also did the Love is in the Air quests in Stormwind and the chocolate daily twice. Stormwind QuestsI started out doing the low level quests in the Trade District (they weren't listed on the addon for some reason and I don't remember the quest names) Teldrassil QuestsPicked up Dolanaar Delivery in Shadowglen (5) - A Troubling Breeze (6)
- Gnarlpine Corruption (6)
- The Emerald Dreamcatcher (6) (weekly quest)
- Reminders of Home (7)
- To Darnassus (7)
- The Glowing Fruit (9)
- The Shimmering Frond (9)
Elwynn Forest QuestsAlso picked up Rest and Relaxation in Northshire (5) - Lost Necklace (6)
- Note to William (6)
- Speak with Gramma (6)
- Young Lovers (6)
- The Fargodeep Mine (7)
- A Bundle of Trouble (10)
- A Fishy Peril (10)
- Cloth and Leather Armor (10)
- Discover Rolf's Fate (10)
- Find the Lost Guards (10)
- Further Concerns (10)
- Report to Thomas (10)
- The Jasperlode Mine (10)
- Westbrook Garrison Needs Help! (10)
Dun Morogh- Bound for Kharanos (5)
- The Perfect Stout (6)
- Priceless Treasures (10)
- The Public Servant (10)
Azuremyst Isle- Word from Azure Watch (5)
- Find Acteon! (6)
- Red Snapper - Very Tasty! (6)
- A Small Start (7)
- Learning the Language (8)
- Precious and Fragile Things Need Special Handling (8)
- I've Got a Plant (9)
- Tree's Company (9)
- The Missing Fisherman (10)
- Totem of Coo (10)
- Totem of Tikti (10)
- Totem of Vark (10)
- Totem of Yor (10)

I also want to note that I made 50g from selling my starter boots on the AH (still trying to sell the rest of my starter gear) so that helped me afford FP travel and the level 5 leather white gear.

As a pacifist I'm not to worried about gear, since you shouldn't be is combat more then a second at a time. I'm more worried about getting enough money for flight training later on.
Agree about the Gol'Bolar Quarry quests, normally wait until level 12 before doing them, you then have zap.
Added some quests you didn't have on your list, that alliance can do.
The quests in Stormwind are Wine Shop Advert 2 Harlan Needs a Resupply 2 Package for Thurman 2 Stormpike's Delivery 15 Blown Away 20
Elwyn Forest Wanted: Hogger 11+ (Did this at level 15 still get max xp reward for the quest, adds despawn when when you have dps:ed Hogger down. Will need to get best possible weapons to make it doable and use all possible cd:s to not take to much damage when adds spawn. Do also have to make sure no one else is there at the same time, they might kill the adds.) Elmore's Task 15
Durotar Winds in the Desert 9

Thanks for adding the SW quest names. It didn't even occur to me that I could do Hogger, I forgot you don't actually kill him. I think I'm too chicken for that one though.

My last profession-less pacifist made it to 44 before I died foolishly. I'm certain you can reach Outland at the very least and most likely further than that.
The harshest level range might be 86-90 as so much of the Pandaria questing is linked/chained and there are no chests for bonus exp. Warlords wouldn't be as bad with all the treasures hidden everywhere.

The harshest level range might be 86-90 as so much of the Pandaria questing is linked/chained and there are no chests for bonus exp. Warlords wouldn't be as bad with all the treasures hidden everywhere. 44 is great, I hope to make it that far on my first no-professions attempt. My biggest fear is doing a quest that seems safe but ends up counting as a kill. I know about a quest in Zul'Drak where putting out fires count as a kill, but a quest in Ashenvale doing the same thing is okay. Seems like Blizzard started to implement more of those gimmicky type quests in WotLK that tend to bug out more often or not act as intended, so I think you're right about reaching Outland okay. After Outland I might focus more on treasures.
It's been slow progress since I can't play more than a few times a week. Currently sitting at level 17 in Bloodmyst which has quite a few paci-friendly quests. Treasures don't give XP there though. I try to fly to Darkshore in between questing to see if any treasures are up. There's a cave with one that I didn't even know existed and I've managed to get the chest twice now. After I finish with Bloodmyst I'm gonna head to Loch Modan to at least get all the Explorer's League Documents. Westfall had only 2 or 3 quests and I've done a bit of Redridge now too. I'll probably link my 10-20 quests once I get there, hopefully it'll help anyone interested in doing this. It's much scarier than just herbing/mining - I've had to use Shadowmeld way more often on this paci than my other one. But it's also more exciting!
