Hello everyone, So I've been rolling a Pacifist, and all was nice and smooth until I checked my toon's statistics: one kill. Out of absolutely nowhere. My Pacifist is 24 and I have to scrap her. Here's my real issue: my stats are all blank, proving I did not actually make that kill: Killing blows – Largest hit dealt – Total damage done – Etc. Even my critters kills are blank. Yet: Total kill 1 (Says it’s a Humanoid) and indeed I cannot sign up my toon for the challenge. Another person in the Wowiroman guild had the same issue; she was luckier, her toon was only 5 or so. Her stats were all blank also. Did I ever team up with someone (that could have made the kill while I was in the party?) No Did I take a quest where a NPC escorted me (and they could have made a kill?) No Did I ever tag a mob then let someone else do the kill? I don't see how, with zero damage done. How can you even kill a mob without landing a single hit? 1. Is it really a bug, or did I mess something up somewhere? 2. Anyone knows what could have happened? 3. Anyone knows how to make sure that does not happen again? I really enjoyed the Pacifist challenge, but I really don't want this to happen again and I've been putting a new Pacifist on hold Thanks and good luck to all you Challengers out there!

If you are first on a mob's aggro list while it dies (killed by somebody else) you will get the kill in your stats. In your case it is possible you aggroed a mob which was killed by somebody faster than you could even notice it. There is not much you can do to protect yourself except maybe roll a class/race that allows you to drop aggro.

Could'nt we look to the stat "Total damage done" for pacifists instead of the kills. It's impossible to stay out of the way of all other players and out of aggro range of anything at all. This new trick puts playing a Pacifist in a hopeless way.

With the exception of the "shared" kills in Warlords just aggroing a mob will not get you the kill if someone else kills it after. You have to actually tag it in some way causing it to be gray to another player when they kill it... just running past a mob shouldn't be enough.

How do you tag it without doing any damage? I've had this happen to me too: zero damage, aggroed mob killed by a benevolent bystander in one shot, one kill in the stats.

Crowd control spells would most likely tag a mob, but I assume the examples here didn't cast anything on the mob in question? If so, that makes pacifist pretty hard to manage, it'll always be a case of hoping bad luck doesn't break it

Thanks everyone for the replies So, basically, it's up to luck... Dranina's message puts it perfectly well, and indeed it's discouraging to roll a new Pacifist knowing that I may get disqualified for no reason. Bloodthirsters are allowed a certain number of quests to account for the account-wide quests... Maybe Pacifists could be allowed a couple of kills to beat the bug? =/

This new trick puts playing a Pacifist in a hopeless way. Nope, does not work. Some damage must be overflowing. Look at these stats: eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/earthen-ring/Fredeligst/statistic#141 And she has zero kills. Bah. What now?

Total damage done cannot be matched to zero... CC can inflict damage without killing a mob, and that would immediately nuke an innocent Pacifist if the requirement was changed to zero damage.
The thing is, if we are right about this issue, the requirements to the Pacifist challenge are completely out of our hands because of the very way the game is built. It's not even the same as getting killed because of a random disconnect or a crash server, it's simply something completely random and up to luck. Unless we level a Pacifist exclusively on dailies... which is totally not the point =/

This was something that was brought up with another character that was similarly credited with a kill as they were in close proximity to another player killing a mob. This, apparently, is a feature of the game, not a bug.
The overall thought was that as a pacifist you also need to be aware of other players killing things around you... basically if you see something dying around you... RUN. Run like the wind.
The issue of giving Pacifists some forgiveness for kills has also been discussed. The overall consensus was that it would not longer be considered a pacifist. Yes, Blood Thirsty was referenced; we've gone through all of this. There was talk of even allowing some critter kills. Again, the overall consensus is ZERO kills, period. Bug or not.
You can consider the kill to be akin to an Iron dying to something like an invisible mob. It's something we try to avoid as much as possible but once it's done that's it.

I made a new pacifist just to look-see. He has zero kills, zero damage done etc. I wonder from where the damage in Fredelig's stats h has come from? PS: He's a lucky one. The first egg he picked up (in Dolanaar - unknown land to me) was a 900 G worth painted egg placed by a player. I intended to delete him after lookin, now I'm not so sure...

I have damage in my pacifist's stats too, and I'm not sure where mine came from either - I guess maybe some quest or other I did, since I can't imagine how a lowbie wearing no weapon at all managed a 2k+ hit... eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/earthen-ring/Siochaint/statistic#141 - no idea which quest it could've been, but I assume it must have been something like that?

If you destroy somethin it normally registers as a kill - ice encasing of dwarfs in Dun Morogh coming to my mind - so Pacifists normally avoid those quests. I do only "fetch this", "go there", "give this" and "tell him" kinds of quests. But time will show. I hope my lucky guy will make me wiser.
