... but this feels like adding drops of water into an ocean. I'm still amazed that anyone thinks that easy, safe(r) experience is a waste of time. Playing naked, I do ALL quests, but I realize that Iron is not the same as Naked so not as much caution is necessary. Even still, with the latest expansion, quests several levels below current level offer significant experience. I would say better safe than sorry, but that doesn't seem to be the new generation's approach. Tortoise and the Hare. Speed kills. As a Naked, indeed one would approach things very differently. Mind you I am not looking for speed but for a reasonable return on my investment, if I may put things that way. Milking Ashenvale between 30 and 32 is not speedy, but it is not risky either; it's a reasonable return for the time spent in there. Doing ALL quests can yield massive return in safe-ish conditions when you bounce back and forth in between zones of the same levels (I assume this is what you do with your Naked Challengers?) but I decided to not go this route with this Shaman. (Not too sure what to do with that "new generation" comment... I've been doing IMC since 2012-ish, so I'm a little perplexed ) Arathi is tempting, but I don't know that zone too well. How dangerous is it to go in there blind?

How dangerous is it to go in there blind? I get on well with Arathi myself although I play hunter at the moment. The quests I leave alone is the ogre portion of Stromgarde. I do take obvious care in Stromgarde in general as it can go sideways but I just clear everything in my path. On a slower killing class you could always leave things unlooted to slow respawns but you're in the best position to judge that. I also skip the final Myzrael quest where you summon the big girl. Its a 2 man quest and she's elite, I did give it a whirl on my hunter to check it out but she stomped my pet very quickly so I left in a hurry. There is the kobold cave too. Again no issues on hunter but you judge how you feel on your shamen and whether you're fine with caves or not. Happy travelling and well done:)

Thank you all for the advice. I did what any self-respecting adult would do: I went through the trouble of asking for advice, put you through the trouble of giving me advice, then proceeded to blatantly ignore said advice. I gave Stonetalon Mountains a try and now that I've done the zone, I find myself desensitized from it (I *had* lost two Irontoons in there, it may be why). A trip through Southern Barrens and Desolace later, Phax dinged 40 and sports a brand new axe and a +5 Armor cloak! I now have a new favorite leveling route. Now that I have my fast mount, I decided to take a break from questing and head to the Eastern Kingdoms to rack up some exploration XP. I will head back to milk Desolace then Feralas when I'm done trekking all the way to the Plaguelands. At least... that's the plan.

And 45! That's my best Shaman so far (previous died at 43). I am going around visiting Elders and getting some exploration XP, but became uncomfortable as I reached the Eastern Plaguelands and I left the zone without finishing exploring it. I am now back in Feralas trying to figure out my next move to get the last 50% to 46. I think my best bet is quests from The Cape of Stranglethorn, as long and slow as this may be. I don't trust either Plaguelands zones, not one bit, but I wonder if I can skip them altogether. (Don't bother with advice, I'm just rambling really) But, new personal best! ^_^

Thanks! I actually dinged her 47, too Somehow I ended up in Dustwallow Marsh, where I went from 40% into 46 until 80% into 47 and capped 47 with exploration and starter quests in Thousand Needles And yes, I will be careful ^_^

avoid the grimtotems chiefs in 1k Needles....
You can do the other quests up there but the chiefs are tough (especially the last one)
Xayawar lvl 41 nightelf warrior(alive) Wyrmrest Accord Xayafrost lvl 66 human mage (dead) Wyrmrest Accord Xayapaci lvl 35 pacifist gnome rogue (alive) Wyrmrest Accord Xayahorde lvl 15 bloodelf rogue (alive) Wyrmrest Accord

Thanks for the tip! I actually planned on doing a couple more of the starter quests then get out of there. I don't remember much from the Thousand Needles. That's even more difficult to do for someone who originally hates leveling alts: I don't remember any zone of the game quest-wise hehe.

Rest in peace Phax, sniped down by an itchy, trigger-happy Horde guard in the Badlands 50% to level 52. Why plant a Horde camp in the middle of nowhere, Blizz? Why? Why? A new Phaxiera is rerolled already, but I'm taking a couple of days off from all gaming. Happy hunts fellow Challengers, may Elune watch over you o/

RIP I have noticed this a common theme around. Opposing faction guards can snipe you from seemingly miles away without you even knowing what happened. I'll keep a mental note of thoroughly researching each zone my journey takes me into.
