Hi Everyone!
Ok, I now have an Iron Pally to level 22 and a Greenman Hunter at 25, so to add just a wee bit more diversity to a given day I have taken up a Pacifist Rogue. I made her this morning and then ran around for 45 minutes trying to figure out how to make some coin in order to level by more than exploration. All of the Allied start zones initial quests are all kill quests.
The only thing that I can think of is to explore until a certain level (5) and then quests that aren't kill quests become more readily available which will allow some cash to start to flow allowing me to get my primary and secondary skills going. Am I on the right track here?
I just need to be pointed in the right direction and then I am off! :^)
Thanks!
P.S. I searched for anything regarding the Pacifist start and could not find it,.. hence the thread.

Try selling all your gear, you should have just enough to learn one profession (I suggest herbalism at fist). Gather a few, sell them to a vendor and buy back your gear. If you used a class with no shoes (like druid) you may have a problem. You could always go to a city and hope for a blingtron
Once you have a profession, the gnome starting area is a great place because lots of space with no hostile mobs (for alliance toon of course)
Xayagreen lvl 31 greenman draenai hunter (alive) Wyrmrest Accord Xayabow lvl 82 tinman nightelf hunter Wyrmrest Accord Xayablood lvl 16 bloodthirsty nightelf druid (alive) Wyrmrest Accord Xayamonk lvl 110 tinman draenai monk Wyrmrest Accord Xayapaci lvl 36 pacifist gnome rogue (alive) Wyrmrest Accord Xayahorde lvl 22 bloodelf rogue (alive) Wyrmrest Accord

I started a druid paci and ran into the same thing. First starter quest is a killing quest so the starter zone wasn't going to work, you can't do the quest chain. I went to Dolanar and did the chain that fly's you to Darn and back, good for a couple lvls. Then hopped the boat to SW and there are several more "talk to" quests that will get you a couple more lvls, also enough silver to start the professions along with selling your starter gear. Once you mine/herb a few nodes put it on the AH, starter mats go for ridiculous prices.
As Xaya said pick a safe spot to start farming. Also if one of your other characters has got the toys for the flight points you can check all the zones you can get to, there's usually at least one "talk to" quest to get the first lvls out of the way. Once you can get the fishing and cooking dailies going your on your way.

Thanks, both of you! I am now on my way. A little naked herbal-ism did the trick!!!

There are also a few go fetch quests in SW trade district for a little xp and a few coins to help you get started.

You might get lucky and have someone around you drop a blingbot and sell the loot.

Best starter area for Pacifist is Draenei starter zones, loads of get this, fetch that QUests. I make NE Priest and go to Azuremyst.

I'm confused... why would a pacifist need any gold? And what are professions?

There are also a few go fetch quests in SW trade district for a little xp and a few coins to help you get started. Those quests open up at level 4. It is pretty difficult to explore enough to get to level 4 to use this as a plan for the few silvers needed for a prof. The same is true for the breadcrumb quest that sends you to the DMF and starts you off with some tokens to buy bags with and sell those for real easy gold. I like MotherOwl's tip about Azuremyst Isle, but I'd still sell my gear and head to New Tinkertown. I've done it 8 or 9 times, so I have habitual behavior established.

Apparently they changed the proffessions to require lv 5 now, so is the only way to start it out by spam exploring and hope you don't get killed by a random mob?

Having done many pacifists with no professions I can tell you getting to 4-5 isn't as bad as one might think. Explore exp adds up rather fast at that level and you might even get lucky and find one of the starter zone chests up which grant great experience.
Also if you are a Night Elf you can hop in the heirloom mount and just cruise through areas for faster explore exp.... the mount moves faster than the mobs in newbie zones and even on the rare occasion you get dismounted you can generally outrun the mobs or at least pop Shadowmeld and wait for it to refresh before you resume exploring.
Once you hit 4-5 the quests start opening up and you can start doing the pacifist safe ones. Better still they all open at the lowest level of the zone rather than staggered through the lvls of that zone like they used to (so lvl 5 for Elwynn rather than some at 5, some at 6, etc...)

So, I used the used the "log out and back in trick" flying between major cities, to get exploration experience. Just be careful when running around.

Yes, I noticed that. So, I used the used the "log out and back in trick" flying between major cities, to get exploration experience. Just be careful when running around. How do I do that trick? For example, if you can take the tram from SW to IF and have enough copper to fly back, while you're flying back to SW, look at the map. As you are flying, it will show you where you are, and you can log out. When you log back in, it will act like you just "discovered" that previously not shown area, as if you were on your own flying mount. Does that make sense?

Eventually, I'd expect the "log out and back in trick" to be fixed.
Exploring 80% or more of three starting zones, plus a Blingtron for air fare, and then taking most of the (safe) flight points from the flight point Toys was enough experience to get to level 5. In retrospect, I'd do it in that order and not mixed, due to numerical values increasing with levels.
