Hello all ! This tread is some sort of continuation of my very first one (http://wowironmanchallenge.proboards.com/thread/1547/welcome-me) I'm 47 and started playing video games in my late 20's. I discovered video gaming while keeping company to friends who used to go to a place called "Cyberdome" in Ottawa, around 1998. That place was full of games to play: not only video games but also mississippi, pool and many others. You had to buy tokens to play games. At that time, Quake 2 was HUGE and my friends primarily went to Cyberdone to play it. You had to step-in a small cabin to immerse you better in the game. It was PvP only and it was fun to watch. It took me a few sessions to decide to give it a shot as my interest was much toward via tabletop D&D. As I played (over a few weeks), I gradually enjoyed myself a little more each gaming session at the Cyberdome. Soon after, I purchased my first ever PC (used) as I just finished a 3 month course on Win 95 (Win 97 was very, very new at the time). The PC was for me to practice what I have just learned so I could work for the government one day. The trips at Cyberdome came to an end and I decided to purchase Quake 2, thinking it would be my only game ever (yeah right ). Then it was Unreal, then Half-Life 1 and many other FPS. Few years later, I felt under the charm of Diablo 2, and eventually WoW (since nov 06). As for WoW, I'm mostly solo quests with a bit of dungeon runs (I love healing as a druid). Did a few raids but the pressure of getting the best gear or being discarded was no fun to me. Timezone was also an issue for me raids tend to start at the time I usually go to bed. So now I'm here, trying something different. This tread will be about my journey (and most precisely about my deaths ). Thank you for reading !

So, like mentioned before, I died a few time already, mostly due to my own fault (not paying attention, over confidence and so on..).
Beside one toon, all my characters are to be arcane mages, since I find arcane missiles so handy and powerful. Killing mobs from a fair distance is very fun to watch (and the auto-aim while casting is simply great).
Hotchick is my new challenger and my third human in a row (to save time since I know that area so much). Hotchick is my first toon not bearing the ironman moniker in her name (to make a difference with my regular toons, I usually name my challengers ironmandwarf for example).
I died yesterday as I became a bit cocky by removing some greens on my toon, thinking the game was too easy and not using Prismatic Barrier to make questing more challenging. Well, with hotchick, I'll let go my ego and use ALL my spells and greens.
I will succeed or die trying !
I said !

Well, hotchick died mins ago, at level 13 and must say i'm a bit annoyed here I was exploring some ruined ships near Westfall shore when several murlocs attacked me. It seems that exploration while running the challenge is out of the question. I realized that after playing all these years that I never took a deep look at the abandoned ships so I decided to check on them. I was careful but was not expecting several murlocs hidden inside. A few but not 4 or 5. So I'm a bit disgusted. It is suppertime. I'll eat some tasty hot dogs and see how I feel after.

Ok, I feel better after a good night of sleep. I'll continue the challenge, rolling arcane mages as explained before.
Möja is next in line and is starting today.
The show must go on!

Well, I'm glad to announce that Huit is now level 27 and is my highest level challenger still running ironman 🎇 Huit is currently doing STV (one of my favorite areas) and life is good ! I ve put my ego aside and now using Prismatic Barrier when needed. A little discovery that I have made recently. Nothing extraordinary but still fun ! I was working on "In A Dark Corner" (https://www.wowhead.com/quest=26669/in-a-dark-corner) when I decided to look behind the barn. Aside being attacked by a worgen rogue, I saw nothing of interest until I looked up. To my surprise, I saw some worgen mages over my head, on a small plateau. If you are not behind the barn, you may not see them. Up there, there is a little camp with tents and an empty cave. No chest or anything special. A path leads you back to quest area. Its in these moments that I realize that after all these years of playing, there are bit of mystery and surprise left for me. I thought I know the Duskwood perfectly well, NOT ! 🤣 So strange to think I've done that quest so many times, discovering their existence by accident (a bit like when I stumble on the The Unknown Soldier about 2 years ago www.wowhead.com/npc=45739/the-unknown-soldier ).

RIP Huit, who died from a fall in the dam in Loch Moran. I used Prismatic Barrier, hoping it would be enough to survive (the jump did not seem so high) but I was wrong.
Ho well...
Since I rolled in advance my next two challengers (Neüf and Dïx), I can restart at any time but not for now as my subscription ends in about 5 hours and intend to take a break from the game.
I may not be very far from you though 😉
I'll keep stalking around once in a while 👀
Cheers !

Shields don't absorb falling damage, however you could have saved yourself with blink before hitting the ground. Please read up on wowironmanchallenge.proboards.com/thread/1318/falling-damage-avoid . Also, even if your game time ran out you can level up to 20, take advantage of that if you die frequently early on to get one or two more characters to 20

I might to that but I intend to finally finish doom 2016 after two years of random playing . Thx for your reply as I find the forums sadly empty. Summertime is over now. Maybe folks will resume posting great stuff !

I hate it when mobs suddenly respawn, and you're suddenly surrounded by 3+ when there had just been one before. Gotta be super careful, almost act like a passive sometimes.
