Hello there, fellow challengers!
A new expansion hit and since I didn't have a monk, I though I just try the challenge with one - and if I die, I will play him normally.
I just hit level 20 and have two questions some other monk player might be able to answer.
First: Dual Wield or Two Handed? At the moment, I am using a staff. I haven't tested dualwielding yet, does someone have experience with this?
Second: The monk classquests in the Peak of Serenity. I have no idea what awaits me. Are they hard? Can I try them as soon as they are available? Should I wait at least a few levels to do them?
That is all for now. I hope someone can help me. =o

I did look forward to Dual Wield but it's not something we can do unless we go chosing specialisations. Can't check at the moment but it's definitely in the Windwalker tree but not sure about Brewmaster.
The class dailies are quite hard but, as the damage we can do is fixed by the weapon's DPS, they get harder until we get the next vendor/drop item. They are immune to Paralysis - thankfully, the only opponents I have found so far.
At level 50:
Cheng - still can beat him with a struggle Woo - Only ever beaten her once Kisane - No chance. Can't do the necessary DPS to stop her healing
I have generally tended to stop attempting them as the time taken to do them outweighs the time for a standard quest +mob XP (and, of course, loot).
I saw a recent comment from Xaya about the dailies. I think we are both getting whupped atm.

Are those quests like duels? So you won't die if you fail? Or can you actually die up there?
If it is the former I would at least try them from time to time.

I play a paladin, but I have really considered playing a monk or perhaps a druid for a second chr, still can't decide.
If I play a monk however I would like to know iif they have more abilities then us Paladins.

They are duels, he says like you're not worthy, challenger if you loose, but TAKE CARE: My son's monk (not an ironman) was killed by master Cheng some days ago! He just told me. It seems that his fire and/or some debuff in combination can kill you.

Zen pilgrimage opens up a daily, where you have to duel a master. You get Cheng, at lvl 20, Master Woo at lvl 30, Master Kristane at lvl 40, and when you have beaten a master once, the master for the daily is random
If you can't beat Master Woo, you won't be able to get the quest for Master Kristane
Like I said on another thread, when you go over lvl 50 they start to be impossible to beat

I remember myself at 60 (regular toon) how a Level 60 had to stay away from Darkwhisper Gorge (winterspring) and Tainted Scar (Blasted lands) becuase the mobs we're not only 60 Elite, but hit like raid mobs (becuase they were) but was also the best place to earn money fast. I eventually had to learn to farm in EPL/WPL and kill Scarlet elites since it was easier. Once I hit 70, I went back and still couln't kill them, I kept trying though..

I must admit, Master Cheng nearly kills you at 20 and 23, but he is still doable. And the buff for 50% more exp from mobs and quests is so damn good.
25 now. :A

personally, I removed the buff, same as if it was from any other quests or another player..but I admit to keep it on my non-irons :-)

Would be interesting to know what others think about the buff. I did use it now. It increases my EXP, yeah, but it still doesn't make me stronger. Rested EXP are basically the same (just without the quest EXP bonus). So not sure what to think about it.

I see it no differently than any other buffs from seasonal quests, like the Hallow's end daily or fire festival. So I remove the buff after getting the Xp for the quest.
It cannot be tracked, so only you will know

I am going to remove it as well, agreeing with Xayacq that it IS a buff like those from seasonal. Off with it.

I have been removing the buff too as it does give a massive levelling advantage. I suspect it's only a temporary Pandaria boost by Blizzard to get a number of monks to the end-game quickly so they can group for end-game otherwise they would have made it a class passive.

I'll try to update this as I find them but apart from the masters, the following mobs seem immune to 'Paralysis'. As this is a wonderful spell to allow you to heal and help finish cooldowns in combat, it would be a shame if you cast it just to find that the mob was still beating on you. A near death necessitated this listing...... Heavy War Golum - Searing Gorge "Immolatus" - Lev 48 wandering rare rock elemental spawn - Shatter Scar Vale - Felwood
