I'll start forming a new guild on WRA everyone, for people who actually want to get back to what the challenge was origionally about. I need charter signers, and the name is <Ironman Veterans> and i PROMISE there will be much better leadership and control. Also, I snuck an alt back into the guild on WRA, so when the coup time comes, i'll snag it and disband Shhhhh. I'll come along for the ride on Ferrufem. Should be on later tonight. LMAO earlier today when my son asked me how I like being a "hipster". He says that all I do is b!tch about the new Ironman players and their chat. (I don't mind a bit of chat-but in about a 10 min time frame 4 toons died. They had been posting in /iron right before death.) I am not an elitist, but this challenge is not as easy as some think it is.

Well reguardless of who makes the next guild, I would like an invite if possible. I know I'm in that group of "newbies" since I started on Saturday but I'm really liking this challenge so far and am planning on going all the way to 85 .

Well, if you want to get away from all the trolling, spam, rage, & general bullshit that the current guild and chat channel have become, feel free to PM me (Ironlord) in game for an invite to <Ironman Veterans> a guild dedicated to turning back to the old roots of the challenge - personal, fun, and a supporting community.

I didn't join the first guild because I was originally trying to stick to the whole "no guild" thing from the original thread. I've since decided I don't give a crap about that rule. I just want to have my nice, quiet, respectful, fun-loving, e-peen measuring free chat back. I'd love into <Ironman Veterans>; if you'll have me P.S. I'm now back at my personal-best of 36! My fear of death is at an all time high :S

Sure, just PM any of the officers - they're the only ones who can invite. And congrats for reaching 36 I'm sure you'll beat it this time!

I have a suggestion. Maybe for Ironman Veteran, you set a requirement that you have to have reached level 20 (for example). Once you reach lvl 20, you can join and subsequently, if you die, your new ironman toon can join since you've hit 20 already. As for lower levels, there is /iron and the forums.
I left Ironman Challenger because it was constantly the same questions asked although the answers are posted. Then as the guild neared 1000 members, there were too many "i'm doing it my way, screw the rules cause this is my personal challenge...blah...blah...blah"
Although ironman is a solo event, I would like to socialize with those dedicated to (as you said above) the old roots of the challenge - personal, fun, and a supporting community

Well the problem there is that "This is my challenge I'm doing it my way" is exactly what the roots of the challenge was. Generally the way it used to be is that someone would declare their intent if they planned to use slightly different rules before they started the challenge, and that's OK. Yes most of us are following the rules listed, but just because one person wants to do something differently doesn't mean that they should be excluded. They may not get to use the tracker but there's no reason that they shouldn't get the same kind of supportive community that the rest of us have. That's why <Ironman Veterans> was formed, to get away from the people who think it's a contest and that everyone has to follow these strict rules or they are losers who shouldn't be here. We're trying to avoid that. I have a friend who is choosing a specialization but making up for that by using only greys. I have no problem with that. Yes he can't use the tracker, and he won't have completed the 'same' challenge as the rest of us, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be a part of the community. He's just as welcome here as anyone else.
You're more than welcome to join us, but just remember that when we mean the 'root' of the challenge, we're referring to that aspect. If someone wants to do things a little bit differently, then there's nothing wrong with that.

Slowly getting my warrior back to where I used to be. I would be honored if you would have me in your ranks as well. Like Ellypta, I've been mainly trying the avoid guilds for the whole "no guilds" rule. But I would also love to chat and get to know the people that are on these forums as well (since I suspect that most of them aren't in the /iron chat anymore, and I can't really blame them) because I think you guys really represent what I love about this challenge in the first place.

Hello everyone. I'm sorry I joined here so late in the game so to speak. [Great job on the stats site, and the forums!]
I'm the one to blame for forming <Ironman Challengers> as it was. I didn't think for a second we would ever level, what with people churning from level 1 to 11 over and over. I also never in my wildest dreams would have thought there would be over 900 members in the guild.
I'm more of an egalitarian person, I just wanted a place for us all to be equal as challengers and enjoy some social respite. So that's why everyone was an officer. Also, it never occurred to me that I should stay as leader after I died. I did a /gleader to the highest level challenger and /gquit. I can see now that was not the way to handle a guild - too many unknowns. I hope you're learning from these mistakes!
Here's an update as of 2.24: There are still over 900 members. The GM/GL has been gone for 15 days. The guild is at 80% progression towards level 2. It has been slowing down, but it's dicey if it will level before the 2 more weeks before someone can usurp the leadership.
On the plus side, there are far fewer active members over level 5. If someone could re-plant themselves into the guild at peak hours, migrations could be facilitated, especially of the active, higher level people.
