Ironman challengers shouldn't have much difficulty with gold, as there's very little to spend on other than cloth for bandages or armors. Flight costs are big, but this solution won't address that.
Even so, I recently found that I could afford every vendor set of armor (12 to 45) after a couple visits to the Darkmoon Faire. This is only available during the first full week of every month. I haven't made the comparisons, but plate wearers may need an extra day of dailies.
If you're level 10 or higher, you get a quest in Orgrimmar or Ironforge to go to DMF. That quest gives you 5 Darkmoon Prize Tickets.
Even if you're not levelled enough to get the above quest, you can still get to the faire from any city. Buy game tokens, play the daily games, get 5 more Tickets. Repeat throughout the week if you wish.
Take your tickets back to Gelvas Grimegate, the same guy that gave you those first 5 from the quest. Buy a Darkmoon Storage Box for one ticket. Remove the bag from its bag slot by dragging it into your backpack. Sell it for 2.5 gold, back to the same vendor even. Repeat until your last ticket, and I recommend keeping that bag, as it's very useful.
After one visit above level 10, I got 22.5 gold and a bag to keep. I bought all vendor armors from 12 to 32, and stored them in my bank. I had money leftover to buy cloth from the AH, train up First Aid skill over 75, and return to the Faire to do the Putting the Carnies Back Together Again quest for 3 more tickets. Sell/buy more bags to get more cash. That was almost enough to buy 45 armors, but 1 more round of dailies afforded me that also.
Not good enough? Want more? Do it again the next day.
Nit-picky note:
This method only involves quests and vendors. It has no involvement with other players. For those that wish to avoid the AH, feel free to skip the cloth buying.
Long term use:
I think this method is useful at your first week of the Faire only. After that, the money is pretty meaningless. Instead, you can save up 90 tickets to buy a battle pet, learn that pet, cage that pet, then sell that on AH for any amount greater than 225 g (the cash value of 90 tickets by selling bags). If you choose not to use the AH, then you can sell them off as bags and gold as you go.
Best luck!
