I thought I would make my own thread just to keep track of what I am doing and share fun/scary events. Whether I succeed or fail perhaps this will be one more rung in the ironman ladder, allowing those that follow an easier way to rise.
So hit 65 today just before finishing Hellfire. Had a bit of fun on "The Cleansing must be stopped". Three mobs are a bit more than I ever want to face at once, especially since two of them have a six second stun.
Accidentally flagged myself by attempting to buff myself while targeting an NPC. The NPC in question is the blood elf that wanders from Falcon to Zangarmarsh, I was about to have to fight him but my buff was running low. That was a scary 5 minutes spent stealthing under a thorny plant.
And the giant boss rock monster in the revitalizing quest knocked me into a ditch and evade bugged at 10% HP so I had to reclear the area and start over. But the universe balanced out because as I got him to about 70% the second time, a random alliance warrior wandered by and smacked the thing. Usually I feel guilty if that happens, but having already dealt with 120% of the mob's HP plus his two adds solo...
Anyway, going to rest my nerves a bit and be ready for another 3 or 4 levels next weekend.

I know I said I would keep this updated but nothing much has happened. I hit 70 today and in the past 3 weekend days of leveling I don't think I have dropped below half health.
That being said, I REALLY hate the cross realm stuff. Today I ran into 4 different level 90s who were camping my quest mobs (The ogres in Nagrand). Then there are the named beasts and Durn. I kept passing through and checking on them but I would always find a fresh body. Eventually I just camped out there and grabbed the taps.
Still prodding at it, pulling roughly one level per 3.2 hours while rested.

That's excellent progress!
I agree with hating CRZ, totally. It can make things easier - looking back at it, Lillierose probably survived the city of Gilneas event because of it - on the other hand, it also makes things unpredictable. And if I go into an area made easier by pre-clearing, I feel a bit cheated of my iron-ness.
It can also make things completely random with respawns, players doing wild pulls and dashing through on their mounts, and well-meaning players thinking they'll do you a favor by trying to help you. Blech.

Well, as far as being cheated of the challenge by someone clearing before you... Twice now I have discovered that the area was cleared by a level 90 with an AoE. I am fairly sure of that because both times the mobs spawned around me with astonishing speed. Now if I see a level 90 farming near me, I either do a smash and grab or just come back later.
Anyway, posting today since I do not know how much time I can play tomorrow. Level 73 currently and nearly done with netherstorm.
I skipped all group quests save Bessie and the robot escorts. Since I am pushing 30 levels ahead of my last challenger I am not willing to take risks.
Danger areas: The ethereum place up by the NE manaforge. I was fighting a slime and a mob warped in on me. As I fought that one, a second one warped in. It was touch and go for a bit.
Most of the mana forges are a little tight with pulls, but the shut down quests seemed easy until the group one. The third mana forge was rough as if you are fighting a mob and a mob near you is fighting other mobs, they will add when they are finished.
Not sure what else to add, but I will put my main on WrA into the iron channel so I can see if anyone still plays. It has been kind of lonely...only one person has entered the iron channel while I played and it was a new player who seems to have quit already.

Welcome, fellow druid! I thought I'd posted a message here last night, but I'm not seeing it so I hope it's not a double post. It sounds like you're doing great! That Ethereum area has so many mobs and I don't know the respawn patterns, so I've avoided it on my irons. There are quite a few ironman folks active on Wyrmrest, but they seem to be mostly on the blue side. It would be great to chat with your main in the ally channel there! What is your character's name so I can keep an eye out? (I'm Ferriona there.) And continued good luck to Ironicow!

Hehe, my main is horde too. I think I have 2 alliance alts in total and I am not sure what servers they are on.
Also I like netherstorm much more than Shadowmoon. Seriously, screw that zone.

I like Netherstorm a lot better than Shadowmoon. I don't neceesarily go very deeply into Netherstorm but I usually at least work my way up to the Stormspire, skipping some along the way.
For SMV, I sometimes go back at 70 or 71 and do a few there, but I'm really not fond of the zone (even for normals).

I left Shadowmoon after doing a lot of it, hit Borean tundra and discovered leveling is like 3 times faster here. I was pushing 5 hours per level rested and now I am under 2. I will bounce between Borean and the other place for a bit and see how far that gets me. Any thoughts on Coldarra? I seem to remember those flying dragons being a pain.

Coldarra is not nice, I did it at 76, most was ok but even then, the quest to kill one caster guy surrounded by 4 more casters (with several more+pets patrolling around) ended with me aggroing 3 casters at one time and having to run for my life... be very very careful there if you try it yet!

I am 77 right now, I will save that for last so I should be 78 or 79 before I even set foot there. Thanks for the tip!
Later edit: Another weekend alive! I went around and bought a bunch of white gear from Dal and a vendor in Borean tundra. Turned out to be a waste of time as I got enough grey drops to double my armor and then I got a staff that probably gave me 50% more DPS!

A new milestone, level 80. The journey has been long and hope sprang anew as the milestone approached. It was only after passing 80 that the druid was forced to acknowledge the dark thoughts at the back of her mind. Despite her hope, she had believed herself to be at only the halfway point. After watching the exp/level double, she realized her path had only just begun.
Edit: I really should take a little more time to think these posts through. I avoided Coldarra and the Dheta quests, but only because when I went to do them I discovered I was getting only 8k per quest. Instead I forged on to the next zone...was that a mistake? My plan estimates me getting 1 level per zone in Northrend, putting me at 85 at the minimum when I finish Icecrown. If I cannot even manage that, I am not sure what I will have to do to finish this. Only time can tell and it is certainly not speaking to me yet.

Unless you do a lot of dailies alongside the regular zones, I suspect you may not reach 85 in Icecrown - I did a lot of dailies and still had to do most of Hyjal and Vash'jir to reach 85. I think exp to lvl has been nerfed since then, so you may do better than me there, but I wouldn't bank on not needing a few dailies along the way in addition to questing. Grats on 80 though, a very good milestone to reach!

That is kind of sad, I am trying to avoid dailies altogether. Dragonblight has me on track, I believe I got 1.75 levels there and got to 81 in Grizzly. I know the remaining zones have less quests than dragonblight, but I am still hoping for the magic 1 level per zone!
