Very good point indeed, I've experienced massive spam problems/absent admin combination on another forum (I was one of two moderators with no ability to ban spammers, who were trying to cope with spam being posted faster than we could delete it...), and it's not fun at all.
That being said, moving people from an established site to a new one is hard going, as we've seen with the challenges sites, there are still far more using the old one than your newer one! Setting up new forums would likely end with some people still using this one, and just spreading what's already a small community over two sites, so there's downsides to it as well.

I agree. I wouldn't float it lightly. It would take a concerted effort of users here and the moderators to keep the community informed.

After contacting Domain.com it appears the new owner is William Westfield. I've sent an email to him asking about purchasing it.

All I know is: whoever first had the domain, you have my gratitude for the work you did for this community.

Pardon my previous post if you saw it (I've deleted it)... I was a bit miffed that someone tried to "scoop" / "snipe" the website auction away at the last few moments. The winning bid should tell you that I'm 100% committed to maintaining the community and making sure it's not going anywhere.
Payment has been processed and ownership will be transferred shortly.

okay... the domain has been transferred successfully and I've changed the DNS. wowironman.com now points to wowchallenges.com. If you're still seeing the old "up for auction" site, DNS changes like this could take up to a week (for remote locations around the world) to get updated... more than likely everything should be redirected within 2-3 days.

Great to see, domain has transferred for me now, both urls point toward the WoW Challenges site Glad you got it for us, that should bring the community back to all using the one website now those who were on the old one will get directed to yours - I'll be interested to see how many more people sign up to it in the next week or so. A related suggestion: any chance of a counter someplace on the challenge pages saying how many people are in the list? Old site didn't have one but it was known that each page held 100 characters, so at least you could tell how many hundreds were there by looking at the page count, would be nice to be able to see at a glance though, especially if numbers increase a lot I count 77 right now, probably miscounted though!

Are all the old data lost? Or could the lists somehow be merged?

I don't have access to that data... all I did was purchase the domain name from the auction. That data is still there until Casa either cancels his account with wherever he hosted his website or decides to delete it.

Would be sad to lose the historic data, I have a lot of dead irons on it :-} Not something you have control over though thejames.
