Ok i have a question here. The rules don't state anything on the Iron Man Challenge rules page wowchallenges.com/index.php?Show=IronManRules about receiving gold and or items that may be used for your character from other players, such as grey/white gear and bags. But in the forums i read "Sending gear/gold to ironmen characters is not allowed". Ok so which it is? What do i tell people when they ask me this question? Is it NOT allowed or just frowned upon? And if it's not Allowed it should be posted on the Rules page so others don't get mixed ideas and lose the challenge because of a rule not posted on the rules page. I'm just trying to understand the mixed information I'm getting here! Oh one other thing I forgot to mention, since buying /selling in the Auction House is NOT in the rules as well, or I am totally missing it, I take it it's Ok to buy Goblin Gliders to use since they do not have a level requirement to use? Could come in handy in case you do something stupid and fall off a cliff or something.

You can't receive Gold or other items from other characters: Everything should be earned on the character you're playing. I'll update the rules as this should be up there.
Auction House use is okay, however, there are some folks that frown upon it. Use it at your discretion. You will not get red-flagged for it.

Query: Does the website track the receipt of items or gold through the mail, or is that an honor system thing?
I've been mailing the stuff from all my characters to a central banker to handle auctions. The only thing I can think of that my Iron characters might need later is money for riding lessons.
Can I send that from my banker or do I need to start auctioning things on my actual Iron characters?

In the main, you make enough gold from questing/vendor trash that you'll actually be able to afford riding as you can learn it anyway; I'm a non-AH person but I don't struggle to pay for riding at most levels, mainly because I spend almost nothing, the odd bit of white armor and that's it. Lvl 20 I sometimes haven't quite got the gold until a few more quests, but it's usually alright, and lvl 70 fast flying (5k gold) tends not to happen until the high 70s. But I can ride at 20-21, fast ride at 40 and fly at 60, so that's good enough for me I too use the banker approach, as some items just look too good to waste by vendoring, but the gold doesn't return to my ironmen; it gets spent on pets for my main instead - usually ones I need but I did one day grab a duplicate Hatespark the Tiny for 10k gold, that sold for 55k on my main's server... easy profits

Thanks for the reply and clarification on my questions. Helps a bunch and now when I am asked I know I can give honest correct answers.
I just did not want to give FALSE information to others and work my way to a high level and flag my self do to a misunderstanding or something. Its hard enough as it is to make my self be super careful of equipping a green or something after 10 years of playing WOW, old habits are hard to break. LOL

It's an honour thing.

Just a comment Stone, I think the old site had a yellow flag if your AH, Vendor, and quest gold exceeded the "Total" gold all tracked by the armory. Little indication you might have got some gold "help".

My bad, logic is the opposite. Total gold exceeded the AH, Vendor, and quest gold...

Hmm, I don't think you can see gold statistics on the armory. At least, I can't find them. So I'm not sure that will work. I think blizzard prevents people from seeing those stats so people can't stalk rich people and try to steal from them or something.
Also. Um. Well. Soo...before I saw this conversation, on my pacifist druid I decided to CoD my ores and herbs to another character to sell them on the AH and just gave my druid the same amount it would have been to vendor the items. I have looked on my character sheet, and gold from vendor and gold from quests add up to my total gold, where as total gold should have been something like 7g more since that what I CoDed myself. So, I'm not sure if in game it tracks gold from other characters as something other than vendor gold. Or perhaps I am just really terrible at math.
So others can do math:
Total gold is 365g 75s 40c. Gold looted 5s 19c. Gold from quests is 23g 46s 42c. Gold from vendors 342g 23s 79c. Gold from AH is zero.
I am pretty sure 342 + 23 is 365. Right? So, not sure if it adds CoD gold into vendor or what.
I stopped doing this once I saw this conversation, since technically it would get getting gold from another character, even though I don't make any more gold than what I would have made if I had vendored the items myself. So, if it is implemented I'll get a yellow flag, or red which would suck but it would be my fault and I am willing to accept it.

Gold statistics definitely are available for characters publicly. In battle.net when you're looking at a profile, you can change the section of say... "advanced" to say "statistics" and it will show all of the character's statistics that you'd be able to see in-game.
This data is also available through the API... it's just something I'd need time to have a look at and work something out.

Hmm, still can't find gold statistics. I am looking under the statistics area, but I can't see it. Looked it up on the internet and found some forum threads for 2011 that say that the old armory used to show gold, but new ones doesn't...but I haven't seen anything recent about it so it could have changed again. But nothing to help me find gold statistics out of game. I guess it really doesn't matter that I can't find it. But now it is bothering me...
Anyway there might still be the issue that if you CoD things the gold doesn't show up? Or it could be, once again, I am looking in the wrong place. As far as I can tell it looks like my character Miyra doesn't have a discrepancy between total gold and vendor + quest gold despite the fact that I did send her gold 7g. (Like I said, it was the exact amount the herbs and ores were worth, so no different than selling to a vendor, but the game wouldn't know that.) So, total gold should have been 7g more than vendor and quest combined...but it isn't.
I tested it out on two characters who are not ironmans. I had one character CoD another character an item for 10g. When I accepted the CoD and looted the 10g from the mailbox on the character who CoDed the items, her total gold acquired statistic didn't change. Her most gold ever owned did go up by 10g though from 1382 to 1392. I then just had another character just mail her gold and the same thing happened. Her Total gold acquired statistic did not go up. However, in both cases her most gold ever owned did go up. So, I suppose if Most Gold Ever Owned was ever above Total Gold Acquired that would indicate someone is sending themselves some gold.

I have a dedicated AH character for my IMC's. It only saves me the travelling time to the capital and back to AH items. I see no problem in this, but I can still learn

No... the stats are the same for us and eu. They're there.. just need to dig for them.
Don't remember exactly where off the top of my head.
I'd you go look up your character on the armory replace the advanced or simple part with statistics. This data is all available via the battle net api.
