Just hit level 55 on my human hunter, I have Winterspring, Silithus, Swamp of Sorrows, and blasted lands still untouched and barring any unforeseen accidents im looking forward to 60. So do you goto outlands right away? or should i finish out as much of azeroth as possible? Any tips or tricks? Thanks!

As a Hunter you can level at an quest appropriate level, so your leveling speed is unbeatable.
I would say that you continue to level in Vanilla content until you hit 61 to receive the power creep buff. From that point on you can decide if you want to continue leveling in Vanilla content with a heavy experience reduction and gain roughly 1 to 1,5 level or jump in to Outland.
For Hunter specific tips I will leave that for the Hunter runners since I only run Warriors.

I disagree with Lokiv. A hunter should go to Outlands at 60 and come back to Vanilla at 61 for the oneshotfest. Between 60 and 61 the experience is significantly reduced for Vanilla quests and mobs but their HP and damage is not(I still dont understand why). If you can handle Outland at 60 you should definitely go there first.

Disregard my advice and follow Lyssan´s, she is far more experienced with hunter than I´m.
I always look from the Warrior perspective so that will always cloud my reasoning hehe.

Once you hit 60, if you can buy flying, make your way to an outland's weapon dealer and buy a lvl 60 weapon like the one i'll link below. It'll most likely be double the damage of the weapon you're using. I'm 59 and will ding 60 the next time I play (if I don't die) and the first two things that I will do is buy flying, then buy a stronger lvl 60 weapon. www.wowhead.com/item=30757/draenic-light-crossbow

Advice at 60: 1. Get flight skill and flight license. 2. Explore every vanilla zone that's 35+ that you haven't already. Avoid dismount bugs (umm vague, I know). 3. Explore about 60%-80% of Outland, until you reach 61. Buy weapon upgrade while you're at it. 4. At 61, either: a. Return to vanilla and do what quests are left for you, at minimal exp gain by 1-shotting mobs, or b. Move on to Outland and start where you'd like.
4.a. gets you at most about 40% of a level, as I understand it. I haven't bothered with it, because.. 4.b. is viable as a hunter or monk, and likely some others too. Personally I only do about 5 to 15 quests in HPF before moving on to Zangarmarsh, but my path may not be preferable to you.
Explore tip: I fly low in vanilla. I fly high in Outland. It's all about dismount bugs, and aggro. Always avoid huge flying mobs like dragons that can 2-shot you from range.
Best luck!

I'm currently lvl 60 on a hunter. I was playing fairly quickly with ambitious pulls... that's all over. Hellfire in Outland is no joke. I played vanilla wow and not much since then, so my knowledge of anything 60+ is almost nonexistent. This means I'm playing extremely patiently and cautiously in Outland, but after doing a few quests I decided F that... I need another plan. Like others advised - I explored most of Outlands and most of Vanilla - flying high (I don't know what dismount bugs exist but there's always disengage).
I'm very close to 61, at which point I'm gonna zerg the remaining Vanilla zone quests and return to Outlands. It's up to each individual iron, but I personally think Outland quests in HFP are too risky at 60. I'm gonna watch Asmongold's latest video to prepare for HFP quests, then I guess cross my fingers and keep my head on a swivel.
GL out there! Keep us updated, it's fun having fellow irons around the same level sharing experience/advice.
