Thanks all Actually I lied... I didn't go on the break as planned. I had an itch I HAD to scratch and I picked up my new Shammy on the same day my 51 died. I'm trying something new (I always try new stuff with new Challengers). This time I'm trying to go around clearing all zones of same levels before moving to the next. So after I was done with Ammen Vale, instead of heading to Azuremyst Isle I went to Shadowglen then to Northshire and even tried to hit the Gnome and Dwarf starting areas but there were no quests for me there (I guess they require the race-specific scenarios). After that I went back to Azuremyst, then Teldrassil, then Elwynn... The idea was to milk each zone while it was still at least a little relevant. It sounded like a good idea on paper but the maths blew up in my face: I am level 17 and questing in Dun Morogh, I get 85/17,000 XP per quest... needless to say it's a huge waste of time and I'm not really sure what I'm trying to achieve at this point. Perhaps it would be a better idea to chose two zones out of the possible four (Soon-to-be the possible three once I'm done with Bloodmyst and the Draenei zones merge into Kalimdor) Or perhaps the XP rebalances once I'm down to three possibilities? Has someone tried something similar and would give me some feedback on this method? Tested: Yes, opposite faction guards are a nightmare. They have probably claimed more Irontoons than the Iron Reaver claimed all kinds of toons since BC v.v Well... for me at least. Phax is the third toon I lose to Horde guards, and Elune be my witness I *am* careful about them.

Doing all the quests in all the zones will only take more time. Leveling is much faster now, and often you don't even have to do all the quests in a zone to get high enough to move to a higher lvl one. My usual route is
Teldrassil Loch Modan Redridge mountain (only a few quests, and not always) Duskwood Northern Stranglethorn Vale (part of it, I don't do the Nesingwary's) Cape of Stranglethorn Dustswallow Feralas (not all of them) Thousand Needles (skipping the Grimtotems chiefs and the follow ups) Badlands (skipping some Dragon's mouth quests with the ogres and the 3 dwarves) Felwood Winterspring Swamp of Sorrows
and I'm usualy at 60 at that point, where I head to Outlands. And in Outlands I almost always get to 70 before I need to go to Blade's edge, and I never go to Shadowmoon Valley nor Netherstorm

Has someone tried something similar and would give me some feedback on this method? Not all quests give such low experience, and those that do are usually the intro quests that open up longer chains which can give considerably more. Also, even on a Naked character, most quests go reasonably quickly. As a Naked player, I do EVERY quest in EVERY zone before moving on (well, combat quests, non-combat quests I try to do as soon as possible for max experience). My current Warrior will be 20 once I resubscribe and still have plenty of the opening zones to do. I'm much more patient than others, and the game is even more nerfed so that you can level Irons doing quests and mobs much closer to the characters level, but I still very strongly stand by my attitude that easy experience is never a waste of time. An extra level could very well be the difference between continued advancement and rerolling. Do you want to live or die? Take your time, I have no sympathy for deaths from players in a rush to level that they do quests they shouldn't be doing at their level.

So... I ended up continuing what I started, i.e. doing all the quests regardless of my level. It's kind of an experiment at this point. I am still not convinced that it's useful, for one very simple reason: I have lost many Irontoons to a lot of different reasons, but questing dangerously or taking off more than I could chew was never one. I am still doing it because I'm curious to see how it plays in the long run, and also because it is unexpectedly pleasant and soothing. Also, I thought the quests would become irrelevant very quickly, but again I was surprised how the zones' XP always catch up if the zones are balanced right. It's a little testing at times, but I've had sufficient patience so far. I'm also enjoying the feeling of leaving no amount of XP wasted. Now 33 and wrapping up Duskwood, I got to the quests where I am to defeat Mor'Ladim and Morbidius in Raven Hill Cemetery. I have very bad memories of those two (on normal toons, six years ago, pre-nerf). The game still suggests a group for Mor'Ladim. Those two quests are not in the spreadsheet of quests to avoid. I don't have a scout. I am confused. Are those two still the terrors they used to be? Apparently they were nerfed pretty badly, but can Irontoons go for them? @xaya: Only 13 Vanilla zones!? That's speedy -and pretty impressive

How did it go with Stitches? I'd say Mor'Ladim is no worse than the Stitches fight (on a hunter). I've only tried it once or twice without any probs in recent times. I have normally moved on well before reaching lvl 33. If you are overly worried make sure you have a clear path to run away back towards the river to Elwynn

I chickened out on Stitches. Apparently he still hits like a truck and the NPC hold zero aggro on him, so I didn't even try him. Maybe I'm being paranoid ^^;

Stitches if tougher than Mor'Ladim. I usually do Mor'ladim at 28-29 on hunters, but rogues better wait till 30. I'd say at 33 he could be doable on just about any class, but never really tried shaman (enven on normals)

Thank you both for your input. I put on my big girl pants and I went for both Mor'Ladim and Stitches. Peanuts A lot of overthinking for nothing. Now almost 35, Phax is halfway through Ashenvale. I also had the first proof there's a good reason for questing in a zone 10 levels beneath you: the invisibility cloak somehow failed me in Maestra's post (first time in 6 years questing in Ashenvale... no idea what happened there) and I dragged 6 Orcs with me as I escaped the tower. All 6 together barely took 20% of my health. Good feeling.

(February 2017? Am I reading this right? ) Mkay so after what looks like a 16-months hiatus, I picked up my Iron Shammy and hoooolyyyy... the scaling. That scaling. That's going to be twice as interesting. At least. For now, I managed to hit the big 4-0 in the Southern Barrens + some Alliance fires. To be continued.
