hey all.
i started a bloodthirsty rogue a while back and it's only lv 20. i intend to keep working on it but i'm unsure as to how to go about the most efficient way to get xp. my original method was to just park her in loch modan and log in once a week to go around and kill the rares (i host my toons on a DEAD server - ravenholdt. i believe it's the lowest population server out of all the US servers, so rares are always up) until 60, then kinda skip around to whatever zone i wanted the rest of the way. but i'm seeing other bloodthirsties constantly move zones in the earlier levels? is there an advantage to moving around as compared to staying in a low level zone with a multitude of rares? i had assumed that the only problem with staying in loch modan until 60 was maybe improper scaling with damage numbers, or improper xp scaling, but i'm unsure as to the disadvantage. if anybody who knows what they're doing would be willing to shed some light on this i'd appreciate it

There are other zones, like Arathi Highlands and Western plaguelands, that have lots of rares, which cannot be accessed till higher lvls. Those can be used for a longer play session, or for a change of scenery. I didn't count the rares in various zones, so can't say which is the best. There is an addon to help you locate all rares below 60, you'll have to get on discord to be able to d/l it ( discord.wowchallenges.com/), in the 'addons' channel
Xayallennah lvl 8 gnome hunter (alive) Wyrmrest Accord Xayaladre lvl 24 night elf hunter (dead) Wyrmrest Accord Xayagilleth lvl 73 greenman dwarf hunter (alive) Wyrmrest Accord Xayapaci lvl 66 pacifist gnome rogue (alive) Wyrmrest Accord Xayabara lvl 29 bloodthirsty draenai hunter (alive) Wyrmrest Accord Xayabow lvl 120 tinman nightelf hunter (41 deaths) Wyrmrest Accord

I can say from experience, that you can pick your grounds and stay there or expand upon it as you want up to ~62. The exp here is same as there for killing. Kill exp scales as a % of scalar quest value exp, so you will eventually need more rares to consume a week's worth of rest as you get higher level and it takes more content per level. In one sitting, that is..
An alternative to expanding your grounds is to hit it repeatedly. If you clear a dozen rares in a zone, all of them (with few exceptions) will respawn in roughly the same sequence later. The time is both in a random range and scalar per zone, but a good rule of thumb for unpopulated server w/o competition is 110 minutes between circuits. If you choose your zone, you can narrow it down and repeat with efficiency. Alts help with this: if ToonA clears here, ToonB clears there, ToonC clears that & that, and you can repeat killing in multi-pattern. Dare I say, Serial? The same pattern can apply to one toon if it goes through up to 4 zones worth of rares and repeats if needed: for example StM -> DwM -> 10kN -> Tan and HS back to StM.
My favorite paths are horde centric, but expand into more neutral zones. Similar paths apply for the comparably few alli bt's I've played.
Some of the confusion may be in that we used to have to chase relevant level content before scaling. I know of some old paths that I used to need, but now ignore.
One perk of limiting your scope of paths up to 60 is that it leaves far more vanilla explore exp to consume at 62-64 before diving into some fairly inescapable grind of normal mobs beyond that. It is a fun dichotomy to do rares until you don't. There's still some higher rares worth checking on and hitting, but none worth waiting for or setting up, and they are too far flung to make a circuit of it.
