Hello all! My contender is a female dwarf pally named Airaun (pronounced Iron, but had fun making an RP-esque name). I've hit level 12 and loving it! This has not only invigorated my interest in WoW, but in my gaming in general. I just wasn't feeling challenged anymore, no matter what I was playing. This fixed that. Big time. I also want to add it's done a lot for my RP immersion. I was up early this morning typing out drafts of Airaun's character and coming up with other Ironman names I could use for an RP server. I am debating beginning a blog somewhat like Christopher Livingston's articles about Nordrick in Skyrim, especially as I have been inspired by the many Lore letters I saw on the official WoW Ironman threads. It's those letters that have brought me here. I love them, and I hated swimming through all the drama to read them. Thank you to those that have continued to write them in the official WoW forums, to keep it from entirely degenerating. Edit: I would like to add this is my 3rd attempt. The previous two will not be spoken of, as they were on a PvP server and their demise caused by silly irl things. Ironically, it was level 7 both times.

Hi!
Started this toon yesterday without realizing that Wyrmrest Accord was one of the "ironman" servers. Lucky me.
So far so good. I'm surprised how easily I'm adapting to not using add-ons (I'm hoping for clarification on Quartz at some point, though, my lag makes hard casts incredibly inefficient without it). But seeing as I won't be doing instances, DBM, recount, etc. seem superfluous anyway.
Macros are another issue entirely. On my "original" hunter pretty much every shot has a macro attached, especially those I often need to use mid-cast (/stopcasting /cast disengage), and I'm still deciding if I want to take the challenge that far (and the use of certain kinds of macros is clarified).
In the meantime I'm having a blast. See you in the world.

And I look forward to reading about your adventures—either through writings posted on these forums, or on a blog somewhere. They say third time's the charm, so I wish you luck! (And I have to say the same thing about RP immersion. It reminds you that Azeroth really is a scary, and dangerous place to be sometimes. After I read that Ironellypta died in a quest in Bael 'dun, and I found myself in that same spot, I was terrified running through the burning fires. It made me realize just how this challenge reinvigorated my love for this world.)

Agreed! Some of those stories have had me on the edge of my seat. I already encountered a few areas (a troll village for one of the quests that involved firing off a flare to call in an air strike) where the place was littered with other Ironmen's corpses. That terror you describe, knowing others have fallen before you on the same quest you're on... yeah. I can relate. Thanks for the warm welcome!

On my 4th attempt at the challenge.
Started with a NElf Hunter - dead at level 7 - real life distraction 2nd NElf hunter dead at level 18 - <sob> - I had even saved up enough money to get the 'Authentic Junior Engineer goggles. Once again a real life distraction. 3rd character - a Draenei hunter - locked in a room with a big DO NOT DISTURB sign - but I was just to tired, and did something stupid. Long live Hyrond - my brave Dwarf hunter. If she dies I'll try Human and Worgen. But it's a Dwarf hunter, what could possibly go wrong?

My Ironman Challenger, Ironvers, just reached lvl 24 - so far so good. All tho, I had a close call in Duskwood just after reaching lvl 24. Luckily, however, I know when to stand and fight vs when to run like hell. :}
