Now it happened again. Level 14, running aruond in Westfall looking for Captain Sander's' treasure. Bam no connexion. 10 minutes later login. Killed by a fleshripper. This is it. No more Ironman for me.
RIP. Warec level 14 human paladin. Killed by his 3rd DC.

While still raging, digging up one of my raised beds and feeding my chickens more grass thingys (grass dug off with earth and roots - too raging still to find a dictionary. English is not my native language) than they ever had before, hubby came and told me that the phone line died as well during DC's. No carrier wave (?) no nothing. I then sat at my PC listening to Cranius singing "Lament of Captain Placeholder".
Now I might just be lurking with my new Draenei twins -- presently level 7, which I made yesterday planning to always have one rested ironman to play -- until the phone company goblins have worked their magic.
Meanwhile I want to type out the stories for Rustypally (and sisters) and Warecs; the armour smith turned adventurer, who met his fate at the hands wings of a Fleshripper earlier today.

Lesson to be learned: do not assist in the battle against Nerub'ar Sky Darkeners at Warsong Hold, Borean Tundra, in the hope to get the quest What the Cold Wind Brings..., because it brings death. Even at level 75. At the moment the guards died the whole swarm came to me and got me down in a few seconds. At least I got killed on the field. Better that than being disconnected or shooten in the back by guards. Screenshots of my adventure can be found at xorothul.blogspot.comSo far the challenge for me. I won't be starting over in the first days to come. Good luck to all you other irons who are still trying to get to 85 and congratulations to all who made it to 85. Best regards from the grave, Xorothul@Earten Ring (EU)

And very impressing that you made it this far first time around! Your blog is an excellent storyline I wish I had done somethiung like it. Warecs - currently lvl 10

I got screwed today by a DC at Lvl 41. I wanted to be the first pure melee to make to 85 on a rogue. I had total control of the battles. I could vanish, shadowmeld, gouge or blind to get out of combat, but can't do a damn thing against a DC. There was no reason for it either. I didn't lose internet connection. I relogged back in immediately, but had to wait 15 sec at the loading screen, and bam, now I'm slamming my fist on the table. I don't know- this was my 19th and best try. I'll try again soon.

SRSLY? " when/if you decide to try a 20th time, best of luck to you

And I totally understand your not being able to stay away. I have a buggy connexion and when I died to a DC - totally unfair as I was not even in combat - I wrote: "This is it. No more Ironman for me." But now I have re-rolled, not one, but four new toons. I level them in pairs, so as always to have a new standing ready. Two of them are already on the list Good health, long life

People seem to be quieter as the trolls dropped away...having 5 hit 85 and two being non-hunters sort of shut up all the naysayers..the Wow forum still has an active link, and i know from the stats on my website (orderoftheiron.com) that there is a steady base of people that check in every day..so we are just a silent majority ...

I check this message board several times a day along with the thread on the WoW forum. I comment if it seems necessary but other than that I don't chat much. I will get chatty on the iron channel sometimes. I am also keeping up with Kahtraa's journal but I've not been playing a lot lately due to personal issues so I've slowed down a lot.
I do care about this challenge still. I've said the last two times I died that I was not starting this again and then find myself re-rolling. It's addictive in a nice way. I even find playing my main and other alts not as satisfying right now.

I read this forum and the offical one (EU version) several times a day, but don't want to end up spamming so try not to post constantly Interest does seem to be reducing, there's about a maximum of 5 people online at a time in the ironman guild I'm in, yet 2-3 weeks ago it was more like 12-15 at busy times, probably a few people have got MoP beta now, or other things taking their time; MoP and Diablo 3 are distracting me a fair bit anyway!

Was going good, not having any problems. Got the Bael'dun Rescue quest in Southern Barrens. Didn't bother to read up on it. Got a quarter of the way in, and decided it looked too dangerous. Headed back out. Found out the hard way that if you use a valve a second time, you don't get the buff.

You aren't the only one who has died to that quest, but I'm sure that doesn't make you feel any better. We look for your return in your new incarnation.
