Sarghir --- Glad to see you're back on your shammy. Grats to you (Gaalen) on setting the new high mark for shammies! Anything new to report to help others who are leveling shammies? (I'll get back to mine one day.)

Kyrie, the shaman is a blast to play, lots of utility spells, good damage, some cc. What I like about it is that it requires you to think what to use for every situation (especially without a skill like Shadowmeld). I almost see it as a chess battle against the game. It's almost like the monk without the "overpower" aura It becomes even more interesting after level 60 when you get earth elemental and especially fire elemental (which is a real beast - it can handle alone named npcs or 2 regular mobs). You still need to flash heal every battle so mobs that reduce healing efficiency are deadly. I think playing a shaman is very rewarding although it requires a bit higher skill threshold (i.e. not for the ironman novices).

What I like about it is that it requires you to think what to use for every situation (especially without a skill like Shadowmeld). That's what I've enjoyed about it so far (even at lvl 40). I enjoy getting higher on my pally, but using 3 spells (and the occasional Avenging Wrath) gets a bit old sometimes, and I have to step away because I'm afraid I'll make a stupid mistake out of "same-ole-same-ole." It becomes even more interesting after level 60 when you get earth elemental and especially fire elemental (which is a real beast - it can handle alone named npcs or 2 regular mobs). I think playing a shaman is very rewarding although it requires a bit higher skill threshold (i.e. not for the ironman novices). Yay for the elementals! I actually only have 1 reg shammy, and she's been lvl 35 for a long time so it's been fun playing a toon I haven't really played before. Interested to see if I have the skills to take her all the way. I'll hit you up if I have questions when I get up there! Good luck! Looking forward to you taking her all the way.

Yay! Glad you're "back," Asy, even if it's just playing around. I personally really have enjoyed my shammy. I find them interesting and they make me think a lot more for each situation than any other toon I've tried. They're not easy, but they're fun. Good luck! Mail does make a difference as you can imagine at 40 so hang in there. I bought the lvl 32 stuff and it made a difference and can't wait for the new at 45!

Currently 46 & 1/2 in EPL and finding it tough certainly can't do some quests as i could on my hunter lol,
Mobs are green 3-4 levels below but each mob seems like a boss fight, getting frustrated atm but am chipping away at it.
To me it seems that the iron game play doesn't seem very "shaman" I keep thinking i am a pallie.
Currently using a 2 hander for the bigger flame tongue hits
Earthgrab totem + instant ghost wolf is good to run away

Shaman is fun to play, although I feel it lacks burst damage so after about 35+ even normal, green mob fights seem to carry on for too long (25-45 secs for one mob). Out of all ironman classes I've tried Shaman has the most versatile starting spell, Lightning Bolt, thanks to the fact you can cast it while moving... there's all kinds of shenanigans you can pull out with it + proper totems.
With Water Shield mana might seem an unlimited resource, but for some tougher/longer fights resource management becomes apparent and vital. WS has its downsides, for example with certain caster mobs you won't be able to charge up your mana at a reliable rate, because water shield relies on mobs hitting you not just every so often but constantly to keep that mana flowing.
Lightning shield is suprisingly strong, it's like an additional magma totem, but can't usually be kept up for too long without running out of mana.
And speaking of mana, if it becomes an issue, Grounding Totem costs half the mana than wind shear for interrupting spells. Keep in mind that it can't absorb every kind of a spell with it (no aoe), but it pays to keep it in your hotbars at times since being an air totem using it won't override your other totems like searing vs magma does for example.

Glad you're back and thanks for the note! I've been gone for a few days but when Im on I'm focusing on my pally for now. When she dings 90, I plan on going to the shammy next (lvl 41?). Good luck!

I've been having a lot of fun as a Shaman. It's challenging, but not as much as a Mage in my experience, which is more dependent on key timing in every battle. This is also the first IMC healer class I've played, which is a real change from my DPS habits.
One-hand plus shield has been the way to go: a shield more than doubles armor when still wearing leather. The gaps in available shields seem like higher levels will be harder: Level 45 vendor-bought white, (level 51 dropped grey) - 25 levels w/o upgrade - level 70 vendor-bought white - 20 more levels with just that one I imagine that other shield classes suffer similarly. I doth not complain too loudly.
Question: At 50, Shamans get Mail Specialization which either adds int or agi depending on spec. Since IMC Shamans cannot spec, does this mean that we get *nothing* from it?

Yes, mail specialization doesn't work without a spec for shamans.
