Was a decision on the "Enlightenment" buff ever made? It seems in my eyes to be un-allowed as it isn't self cast and is removable... not to mention giving a HUGE exp boost. Buffs like the midsummer festival are supposed to be no-no's shouldn't this one as well? Haven't even played a monk personally but a new challenger was asking if it was allowed and I wasn't really sure. only self-casted buff are allowed, so it is not. The daily can be done, but the buff must be removed immediately. ANd the master you have to fight is always the same lvl as you, on my last monk it was very though

Just an FYI to anyone rolling monk... having an extra potential daily each day is lovely (along with the only other 2 pre-level 70)
HOWEVER... Master Cheng's fire CAN kill you on occasion so proceed at your own risk.
Just lost my re-roll of my dead 67 monk to his fire effect. The daily becomes more and more difficult anyways the higher level you get as the monk trainer hit points and damage output scales as if you have "normal" gear for the level. Losing the training fight usually just leaves you at 1 life but I learned the hard way today you can die.

From an iron monk , my advice, if you (are a panda and) don't know which faction to choose, go for horde.
Horde gets a free snowhide white set of gear at lvl 70 from Taunka in Borean Tundra. Alliance gets.. zilch, it has to stick to grey drops. My bad, as alliance, learned that the hard way. One way would be to create a lvl 1 and cry for some hordie to sell a set on AH but I think I'd better sit near the banana tree waiting for the bananas to fall, coz it's gonna take a looong time.
All things considered, the boost in dmg redux is 7 armor, ~ 0.6%, <=> 34 HP for my lvl. Not much but it can be the difference between life and death.

Good advice but I think the main consideration when choosing the pandaren faction should be familiarity with the quests on either side. I personally would choose horde because I think the quest lines are more streamlined and less grindy on the horde side.

IronRevenge here, all of the monk masters are doable as iron men, they just take awhile. The masters all run at the same speed you do, and won't leash. What I did in order to defeat the harder masters is kite them up a level and across the bridge, running in a gargantuan circle and healing myself with expel harm. At full hp I engage and fight until I reach 40% hp and then double roll ahead of them and continue running. Eventually, they are riddled down to touch of death range and you can finish them off. I never tried the final master (hight) because he appeared to have 220k+ hp, and I don't mind giving my toon a cardio workout, but thats hours at least for a one time quest. Not worth it to me.

Bump; Paralysis immune list post on page 2 expanded to include: It appears, generally, that the troll voodoo statue mobs (Zul'Drak, maybe elsewhere) share immunity just like the dwarven golem mobs.
Edit, 2nd bump. It appears that all rare dragon mobs are immune too. Hillsbrad, Redridge, Swamp of Sorrows, Blasted Lands come to mind that I know of.

8.0.1 is out.
CD on Paralysis has increased to 45 seconds, but its effect still only lasts 60 seconds. This is significant, even lamentable, but not worth crying about. Change happens, and successful challengers adapt and persevere.
Disable as a monk skill is a commonly overlooked ability for weak CC. It is not a Paralysis, but it does slow movement on first hit, refresh itself with melee attacks, and root the target for 8 seconds upon second use. I used to only use this on monks below level to achieve Paralysis, but now it is more useful between the 3x longer CD of Para.
Para breaks ToD so it doesn't take the damage, same as before. However, 2nd hit of disable (8 sec root) does not break ToD (8 sec damage delay). Matching times inspired me to test it, and it works nicely if you care to expend the attention to it.
