The overwhelming majority in the ironman community thinks that warrior is the hardest class to level and I think it's true (shaman may be close in difiiculty but only because of the lack of Shadowmeld).
For an ironman warrior the most important thing is the level, not DPS, not weapon, not armor, not skills (aka Heroic Strike). One additional level will allow you to tackle quests and mobs you couldn't do before the ding and not because your stats are slightly better but because of the increase chance to dodge, block and avoid enemy hits. You need a large level difference between you and the mob for this but not too large to make the experience you gain from said mob too low. I found that the best level difference is 7(at least between 1-60).
Warrior leveling guide:
There are 3 major breakpoints to reach on a warrior: 61, 71 and 100.
- Between 1-61 warrior leveling is hard, there is a lot of zone switching to maintain the level difference (sometimes even 3-4 times per level). Especially between 35 and 50 leveling is brutal and I think this is the point where most of the warrior tries are ending. Level 61 is the first breakpoint to reach.
- At 61(62), after finishing the Old World zones all you can do in Outlands is roam around on your flying mount and pick the occasional treasure chest. It's a long slog and you need plenty of patience. At 68 Northrend becomes avilable for exploration and a couple of dailies. The goal is to reach 71 and Nirvana of squishing.
- At 71, Outlands changes into a big joke. Since almost all quests are available, leveling in Outlands should take you to 76-77.
- Between 77 and 81 it's unsquished Northrend but it's not very difficult
- At 81, Northrend becomes a joke as well. It should give you plenty of experience to reach 86 when it's time to move to squished Cata zones.
- Between 86 and 91 leveling in Cataclysm zones
- From 91 forward Pandaria dailies should give a steady stream of experience. Should be done until level 97-98
- At 96, Draenor intro becomes doable for warriors (if you want to skip the intro the back-door questing can be done as early as 94)
- Between 97 and 100, it's mostly Draenor leveling and treasure hunting
In conclusion:
1-61: very hard (especially between 35 and 50), planning is a MUST
61-71: very, very slow
71-91: easy and fun
91-100: moderate difficulty
Lyssande has reached level 100 in 15 days, 8 hours of play time (of which fully a third spent between 61 and 71)
- No Auction House
- No First Aid
- No consumables of any kind
- No scouting
I will upload some videos on my channel in the near future.
