Hello, I am fairly new to the Ironman challenge. I quit WoW for six months but I felt pulled back in again. But I wanted it to be more epic. Not the frantic rush to the top with no flavor like the game has become.
My first try was as a NE Hunter and he died in Darkshore in the tower. The second toon was a Worgen Druid and he died to the shark in Redridge Lake. When thinking about my next character, I looked at the Ironman list and saw a lack of shamans at the top. So I took up the challenge. Upon looking at pandas, I noticed that the red furred female with a tail looked just like Squirrel Girl, one of my favorite characters. So here she is.
I leveled through the panda starting area and then headed to Stormwind. I finished the human starting area and split time between Kharanos and Goldshire, then I moved on to Westfall and Loch Modan.
Squirrlegirl is now level 20 and I am seeing the drawbacks of playing a shaman. It is very slow going. At this point, I have four main attack methods. I have Lightning Bolt, Primal Strike, Flame Shock and the Searing Totem. I am fighting enemies five levels below me and they don't go down quick. I put down the totem first, then pull with three LB's, then FS, then PS to finish them off. Sometimes, that isn't even enough. So I have to be very careful of pulling multiple mobs. She does have the Quaking Palm panda ability to help some.
I am going to finish with LM and Westfall and then move on to a new area. I haven't made up my mind yet but I will keep a log as I go.

Squirrlegirl's adventures continue. She and Tippy Toe started at Farstrider Lodge in Loch Modan and worked on the hunting quests. There were no troubles until the quest in the cave. Upon fighting the first mechano in the cave, Optimo appeared and gave us a terrible fright. Squirrlegirl's health dipped to five and death was so close. A quick heal and Tippy Toe jumping on Optimo's back bought a second of time. After she regained her breath, she and Tippy headed into the cave and came out victorious.
She then headed to the dam in the north and had only one scare with the Ogre Boss at the back of the cave. He hit very hard but it wasn't as close as the Optimo fight. After the thrilling ride on the Mechano Strider back to the other side of the dam, she headed north into the Wetlands. There were two dwarves that asked her to recover an item from a hut and kill some orc brutes. The brutes were tough and rallied quickly. She backed off out of worry and told the dwarves to find another adventurer for that task. She and Tippy then headed further into the Wetlands. There is a dwarven camp near a lake and they asked her to do a few tasks. These were put on hold and she went back to Redridge to do the opening quest there. She had no issues and even killed a rare dragon on top of a hill. Once the murlocs were dealt with, she headed down to Duskwood to check out what was going on there.
She has found purge and wind shear to be very helpful, and she has water walking and frost shock now. Both are very handy. Squirrlegirl is very proud of reaching level 24 and plans to move on bravely.

Playing a Shammy iron is tough! And Optimo has apparently killed quite a few irons. Good idea to dip back into Redridge for a bit--Squirrlegirl will probably need to be even further above level in each zone than another character class would need to be. Hope it goes well!

Thanks for all the well wishes. Squirrlegirl is still chugging along. She began yesterday in the dwarf encampment in the Wetlands at level 24. The adventuring in that area was very tame and gave her no issues. She and Tippy then took a fast ram to Menethil Harbor. She was saddened to see the state of the once fair town. She then decided to head back to Duskwood at level 25. There was some unfinished business there. She and Tippy gathered ghost hair, mirrors and made potions to save some people. The next task on her list was the frightening Rotten Orchard. After hearing everyone talk about how dangerous it was, she was little leery of trying it. But bolstered by Tanee, she headed that way.
There were many hidden enemies, but they were not to hard to deal with, until she moved to approach the house for the needed MacGuffin. Squirrlegirl tackled a mage but then two wild worgen jumped her at the same time. She Quaking Palmed one of them while finishing the mage. She put DoT's on the two worgen while throwing heals and resetting her totem. Tippy hid in fear. Luckily she had ditched her staff earlier and switched to a flail and a shield. They were needed to survive this fight. With a last ditch band aid and the Primal Strike, she finished off the last worgen. It was a close call and her heart was racing. But she felt more experienced and reached level 26. She got a new totem - Earthbind, and went to rest in the Inn for the night. It was a draining encounter and needed to be savored. The adventure will continue tomorrow.

Don't be in such a hurry to level. Don't skip zones and green (or gray) quests for the higher experience yellow quests.
Would you rather get there eventually, or die today?
Granted, my experience is a little different, and as a Naked Petless Hunter, I am much more cautious and conservative than others, but I'm sure I didn't even start Duskwood (a level 20-25 zone) until at least 26, and finished in the low 30s.
As a new Iron, PLEASE, take your time!

Squirrlegirl took the advice of fellow adventurers and headed back to Redridge to do some easier tasks. When she arrived, she first had to get a yeti to pull a rock off the foreman, then the mayor wanted her to rescue some war heroes to help against the orc invasion. It was all yadda yadda and too easy. After all the men were rescued by the cute squirrel girl, they headed to the other side of the lake to fight the orcs. It was a fun ride in a boat powered by a mage with fire shooting from his hands.
The road so far had made her feel a little more capable and she was now 27. At the new camp, she gather items to make a camouflage suit to infiltrate the orc camp and rescue the prisoners. She and her companion crept away into the night looking like bushes. Squirrlegirl used the tools given to her and distracted some orcs with stink bombs, moving deeper into the camp. The orcs were elites units and getting found out would mean death. They finally reached an enclosure and there was a mage standing at the fire. They had given her this chloroform stuff so she approached the mage from behind to administer the knock out. But the mage fought her off and she and her companion had to fight for their lives.
The totem was down in an instant and flame shock applied, there was no time to think, instincts took over. She interrupted the mage whenever possible and whittled her down. Her companion, meanwhile, was fighting two guards at once. Squirrlegirl saw him collapse into the dirt as the mage died to her flail. It was time to get out of there. As she ran towards the water on the left, she threw down an earthbind totem and sprinted to the water to get away. She felt a few blows in the back as she fled. Was this the end?? Then there was a crash of lightning and everything went black.......(Thunderstorm at my house knocked out the power)
She was face down in the water with Tippy Toe bouncing on her head, desperately trying to wake her up. Her air was gone and she felt her life fading. Squirrlegirl's head broke the water just in time and gloriously lived. She and Tippy were safe. She made her way around the hills back to the base camp and told the others what had happened. They mourned the loss of their buddy. She had enough of this adventure and told them to send in Rambo this time. I'm sure that he did better than her. A flight to Menethil was quick and she bedded down for the night in the inn to rest. They were playing a card game at the tables with some new shiny cards called Hearthstone. So she sat down for a few games with Tippy watching from her shoulder. Tomorrow is another day, but for now she had beer, cards, and a cuddly companion to help her relax.

After a good rest, SG and Tippy went looking for adventure. They cleared out the keep, gathered some food for the people of Menethil, and headed out to cut down the encroaching murlocs. She went looking for the head of the ring leader, Gobber. He was found wondering around in the wetlands and she made her approach. But while engaging Gobber, a wild Bluegill Warrior appeared along the canal. The earthbind totem was dropped when her health got low and she fled into the bay with water walking. Another close call, but Squirrlegirl laughed at the danger and excitement. No other troubles presented themselves as she mopped up the murlocs, recovered the stolen items, bagged Gobbers head, and dealt with some ghostly pirates.
After returning to the harbor, the dwarven commander sent her on the mission deeper into the marsh. They mounted up on her faithful turtle and made her way there. It looks like tomorrow she has crocs and raptors planned for the day. She and Tippy bedded down for the night at the outpost. Also, she reached new heights by making it to 28, which brought a new spell popping into her head - chain lightning. She'll have to test it out under controlled conditions.

I didn't explain it very well about who the character is and who is Tippy Toe. My avatar is a picture of Squirrel Girl and her companion Tippy Toe. SG is a superhero in the Marvel universe. She has the reflexes and speed of a squirrel and can talk to animals. Tippy Toe is her best friend. She has defeated some very powerful enemies by commanding the squirrels in battle. I think she awesome so I decided to base my toon on her.
My Squirrlegirl is a lone panda wondering the world with her best friend Tippy. She gets into adventures and explores a world she's never seen before. She grew up on a small island and had never met a dwarf, elf, or human until the airship crash on her island. She is amazed at all she has seen.
