This is the journal of Ironprincess the Human Hunter, my first Ironman character, on the Steamwheedle Cartel EU server.
Backstory
The eldest daughter of a rich and influential nobleman, Babette had always lived a pampered and spoiled life. She had never bothered to better herself in any way – What was the point, she was to inherit all her father's riches anyway? So she lazed around for days at end, being an endless nuisance to servants and family alike.
Her father was at his wits end. He dreaded letting all his lifework go to such a spoiled brat, especially considering his younger daughter was much more fit for the role. So one night he sended for an assassin to “take care” of the problem.
The assassin made it to Babette's room, but had not taken account for her pet, a massive wolfhound, who woke and alerted the girl to the intruder. She managed to flee, and escaped through the night with only the clothes on her back and the dog at her side.
Babette swore vengeance upon her father. Though she had no talents and no skills, though she refused to wear ugly and clunky armor, she swore she'd grow powerful and strong and take back what was rightfully hers. She assumed the mantle of Ironprincess, and began her journey...
Elwynn Forest – Lvl 1 - 12
Elwynn Forest and the first 12 levels went by uneventfully. I haven't leveled a toon here in ages and didn't take the optimal questing path, which resulted in running back and forth a lot. There was surprisingly nearly no public indecency going on in Goldshire.
I flipped stuff on the auction house until I had 50g, which I used to buy an Elegant Dress, Ironprincess' adventuring gear of choice.
I also took a quick trip to Dun Morogh to pick up a new pet. I never cared much for the human starter wolf, so I tamed the rare polar bear Bjarn, who I renamed Samson.
Westfall – Lvl 12 - 18
Onwards to Westfall! Ironprincess begrudgingly assisted vagrants and hobos, while helping Horatio Laine uncover a murder mystery along the way. Sentinel Hills were in flames at the end of it, but that was of little concern to her.
Redridge – Lvl 18 - 22
In Redridge things got a bit spotty. I knew the Rambo quest chain was bad news and that I should just go to Loch Modan, but since it's one of my favorite quest chains I thought I'd give it a go.
I has just grabbed the key for Breaking Out Is Hard To Do when a guy ran up to me, aggroing every elite wolf on his way. I quickly caught on to what he was trying to do, and got the hell out of dodge.
Later on it was time to do Prisoners of War. I had a really bad feeling about that quest, but for some reason tried to do it anyway. Things went well, until chloroform failed to work on a guard, and I suddenly had aggro from two elite orcs. I panicked for a second, before I got my stuff together, emergency bandaged and hearthed out while Samson held them off. I had approximately 5% health left.
I decided to just cut my losses and move on to the next zone.
Duskwood – Lvl 22 - 25
In Duskwood I realized that the times of doing level-appropiate quests were over. Though I was being as careful as possible, I was having a lot of trouble. After a particularly close call in the Orchard full of stealthed worgens, I packed up and went northwards to Wetlands.
Wetlands – Lvl 25 - 27
I quested in Wetlands up to and including the Ghost Ship quests. I had few problems since I'd made a decent level buffer at this point, but since I find Wetlands to be an incredubly dull zone, I left again to go deal with the rest of Duskwoods.
Finishing Duskwood – Lvl 27 – 30
It's funny how just a few levels can make such a difference. Where I previously struggled to take down just one mob, I could now take 2 or 3 at a time.
The quests eventually sent me to Raven Hill Cemetery. Though I've gotten myself killed here countless times on regular toons, I didn't have patience to snipe zombies around the edges, and ventured into the middle of it. I went exploring into the crypts, and found a gnome roleplaying by himself, and an elite mob. I quickly got out of there.
After reaching lvl 30 I abandoned the remaining quests and went on to one of my favorite zones..
Northen Stranglethorn Vale – Lvl 30-37
A thing I like about the quests in Stranglethorn is that they're very straightforward. Go kill some tigers, go collect some troll tablets. I proceeded through the zone with no problems, even if the attackable lvl 100 Nesingwary guards made me quite nervous.
At this point I had also collected enough midsummer flowers to buy the shoulderpads. They're just shiny and impractical enough to suit the Princess.
Arathi Highlands & Hinterlands intermission – Lvl 33 – 35
I took some breaks from Stranglethorn to quest in these two areas. Partly to collect the midsummer flowers, and partly because I just like the zones.
In Arathi I met another person who tried to meddle with the Princess' affairs – A horde player in full heirlooms who turned on PVP and danced around my pet, probably hoping to get hit by a thunderstomp so he could slaughter me. I put Samson on passive, turned thunderstomp off autocast, and ran away.
I also forgot that extinguishing the other faction's fire puts you on PVP. Luckily I hearthed back to Stormwind before anyone saw me, since it would have made for a particularly stupid death.
In Hinterlands I had one close call, when I didn't pay attention and fell off the side of a cliff. Thankfully I disengaged in time to break the fall.
At this point I also had enough money to buy the Princess a blood elf bandit mask.
Cape of Stranglethorn – Lvl 37 – 39
I only spent a brief time on the cape of Stranglethorn. I didn't want to do the pirate quest chain, and in Booty Bay I bore witness to more ERP than I cared to, so I went onwards to Kalimdor.
Dustwallow Marsh – Lvl 39 – ??
And this is where I am now. I am going to grind on mobs and rares until level 41, and then I'll take on the quests in this area. I plan to stay in Kalimdor for at least 10 levels – I remember there being a lot of gimmicky and glitchy quests in the Plaguelands, so I'd rather avoid those.
So far I'm really enjoying the challenge. It's the most fun I've had with WoW in ages, and I've grown incredibly attached to Ironprincess. Though I'm playing the easiest class and have made a lot of dumb mistakes, I'm proud of how far I've come, and I hope I'll go much further
