I'm sorry but with some of the minor stuff people bitch about affecting the 'purity' of the challenge, how is earning 1-3 levels per invasion for just hiding in a safe spot and/or tagging elite mobs even remotely in the spirit of the challenge?
Tagging 3 elite mobs (one the end boss) and completing one invasion was 1.5 rested levels for my Death knight... just parking a character in a safe spot will net you a level per invasion. I leveled a mage to 37 in about 12 hours and didn't even attempt running around tagging elites for the huge bonus experience or that mage would likely be close to 50 by now.
The experience for doing nothing is far greater than what you can get from pet battles or the boost from exp boosters like the midsummer pole or monk daily and yet many folks are clearly abusing the hell out of this experience and it is apparently deemed acceptable.
Some things are gray areas as far as the spirit of the challenge... this should not be one of them.

They're risky. Even if normal attacks and health pools are scaled to your level, AoEs are not. When farming the invasion chests for my F2P twink I got oneshotted pretty often by 24k instant AoEs flying around. Plus, enemy faction can attack you.

I agree, they should probably be banned - there is nothing ironman about them - but it's too late now, a lot of people already used the invasions extensively.
Regardless, if a challenger has the 6 invasions completed feat of strength it has a yellow flag next to its name in my mind.

Agreed, they should be banned (at least in spirit), but what can be tracked?
I was questing in Dun Morogh, far away from the Invasion activity in the zone, when things switched and suddenly there were hostile mobs everywhere. I ran to the Amberstill Ranch, a known zone of safety, only it was invaded and they didn't like my presence. Dead.
I generally avoid Invasion zones now but, on two occasions, I was on a flight path from Stormwind to Ironforge, and while flying though Dun Morogh I got huge experience bonuses for just being present in the zone when an invasion milestone was achieved.
I would hate to get disqualified for that.

Enemy faction can't attack you but a lot of enemy players are there fighting often and are generally flagged. I believe one of the bosses does mind control or something though so they could attack you that way.

why is this so different to other world events where people get easy xp? so you get a few lower levels quickly, meh with specs now 1-40 is cake

It's temporary though and risky if you actually tag mobs rather than hide. I don't see it much different than doing daily quests for holiday events. Though the XP seems to be much greater, so I dunno. I'm sure it'll end once Legion comes out which is only a week away now.

Personally, I think this is a good opportunity to level up scouts for Legion. It's insane how much XP you get if you really get involved with each invasion. I got 2 level 90s I had sitting around from MoP to 100 in 1 day. Now I'm working on mage. I started her yesterday and she's now level 40.

I just flew over the invasion zone on my way to and from Ironforge for some banking and my Pacifist gained a level!

It is FAR different than other world events as far as ease of experience gain. Not to mention every invasion zone has safe spots were you can sit doing nothing and still gain experience. And with all 6 zones now active and on a short timer the experience is basically endless.

Doesn't really matter much anyway, this self-resolves in a week. Looking at leader board, at this point, no one is going to get to 100 via this temporary XP, and most regulars feel it is not worth the risk.
Ash has lost a 60's and a 70's IMC both on the ground and in the air... wrong place at wrong time, so the risk part is not made up. A total ban is impossible since you can accidentally get XP and the achievement just taking a taxi at the wrong (or right) time.
Myself, I look forward to Invasions part being over so we can resume normal questing and dailies. And to try out Legion on a scout.

I disagree on the risk. There is more risk entering Stormwind than leeching in the invasion zones unless you plan to try and tag the elites.
Even more troubling in my opinion though is Bloodthirsty challengers soaking up the ridiculous experience. Hell with specs now you can kill the normal invasion mobs and maybe even the lesser elites on the right class/spec.
Ah well at least it has been nice for leveling my normal characters that I never got around to before Legion.
Edit: Oh and people have already abused the invasions to reach max level and others could as well if they felt motivated enough so saying no one is going to reach max level in the next week is a bit silly to say in my opinion. In fairness though as always since there was no rule against using them they are fair game... much like other forms of abuse in the past and other gray areas. The next time someone whines about water strider or heirloom mounts though I won't be able to help but laugh.

Ster is correct on the risk aspect, I lost a 75 hunter flying into an invasion zone. Ended up to close to the ship which can't be seen from just outside the zone and dead instantly. The 61 hunter was due to some weird phase glitch at the edge of the invasion zone, just fell through the mountain from the ledge I was on in Dun Morogh when it started.
If you want to take a chance in the invasion zones the risk is there. Some will get lucky and it looks like a bunch of easy xp but if your in the wrong spot at the wrong time.... dead IMC toon.

I agree waiting in a corner for the invasion to finish is definitely not iron like. Many iron players have been doing them (did a few myself), some may even have the achiev for all of them. Invasions cannot be tracked, and I know I can now get 4-5 lvls in a day on my pally if I want to even without using invasions, so it's hard to say if someone is abusing invasions or just doing many hard iron sessions doing quests and killing mobs.
Even if it cannot be enforced, I say invasions should not be allowed

Can't ban people for mandatory shit put in place by Blizzard. I reached level 21 on my blood elf, guess what? I had to do an invasion, it was in my way. I was shitting myself every second, it was NOT a pleasant thing to do, but the alternative would have been to log off. Why the fuck would I log off on my free Sunday time to avoid content from Blizzard? I would have been nice to actually HAVE A CHOICE, but it's just being thrown in your face...
I don't think waiting in a corner is much better than doing actual content. Currently as a hunter in the 40s I make a level every 20-30 minutes, RISK FREE, while actually playing the game. Risking an instant death from some shit somewhere is not really a good idea... There's no safe corner in a Blizzard game...
