More details about the journey from 100 to 110
When I logged in with Lyssan on the first day after the Legion launch, I had no idea how am I going to get all the experience required to level to 110. There were a lot of reasons for this: quests and mob experience in Draenor(especially Nagrand and Tanaan Jungle) badly nerfed, WoD lack of reliable level 100 dailies, Legion mobs scaling and the artifact scenario a requirement for any meaningful Legion questing. Sounds pretty bad, right? But there was a ray of hope in this as well: Lyssan was a discipline priest with good self-healing and damage reduction which (as tested in the beta) was able to stand toe-to-toe with some Legion mobs, she had almost 4 Draenor zones untouched (both quests and treasure chests) and the 3 low-level scaling dailies were still available. So I started leveling without knowing how far I can go.
----------------------------------------- 1. Draenor quests and treasure chests
The unfinished Draenor content and treasure chests took me to 93. I finished most of the quest lines and found more than 200 treasures. Tanaan Jungle was still untouched.
At 93, the only experience to be gained in Draenor was from Tanaan Jungle treasures (dailies were around 1k exp each, not worth the effort). So, it was either time to move to Legion or find some other experience sources in Draenor.
Around this time I found out that the artifact scenario is no longer required and that all content from Broken Isles is available without the artifact. I knew my priest could do it - at least the Shadow scenario which I completed in beta - but I wasn't willing to risk it unless was absolutely necessary. I'm glad it wasn't.
2. Legion mob grinding
Also from beta I knew that some Legion mobs can be killed, albeit very slowly due to their huge health pool. So, I proceeded to look for the Legion mobs with the lowest HP that I could kill in relative safety (AKA "boars"). Here is a short list of neutral mobs with low HP:
Aszuna: - pondswallow frog HP: 240k (101) - 1000xp rested - scumshell crab HP: 300k (101) - 1000xp rested
Val'sharah: - sylvan owl HP: 300k (101) - 1000xp rested
Highmountain: - highmountain eagle HP: 273k (100) - 898xp rested
Stormheim: - galecrested eagle HP: 300k (101) - 1000xp rested
Based on this list, the poundswallow frog looks like the easiest kill but it has a nasty jump move that takes about 15% of your HP. If you can deal damage while moving this is your fastest grind mob. For my priest it was the highmountain eagle. For some reason they are always 1 level behind the rest of the world which makes up for the slightly less experience they give. It took between 40-50 seconds to kill one which meant about 60k exp per hour (when rested).
3. Tanaan Jungle respawning objects
Another surprise was the discovery of the respawning treasure chests and objects in Tanaan Jungle. They give pretty decent experience even after 103 and - they are respawning. The drawback is that usually they spawn in very populated areas of Tanaan and mobs are still dangerous there, especially in numbers. Also, Draenor is now CRZ'd so there are dozens of other players around. Best areas to look for these are "The Fel Forge" and "Ruins of Kra'nak"
4. Garrison
The Garrison proved to be a really good source of experience (and no, I'm not talking about experience missions here). A lot of buildings have quests associated with them at different building levels, some even scale with your level and one - the Dwarven Bunker - at level 3 has a scaling daily ("Scrap Meltdown" requiring 25 iron horde scraps) . Here's a list:
- Dwarven bunker - 1 quest (level 2), one scaling daily (level 3) - Lumber mill - 5 scaling quests (at various building levels) - Barn - 3 scaling quests (one at each building level) - Trading Post - 1 scaling quest - Stables - DOZENS of scaling quests available at building level 1
Since most of these quests scale with level, it's better to delay doing these until later levels.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Between dailies, Tanaan respawning treasures and eagle grinding in Highmountain Lyssan reached 106. At this level, I also decided to do some actual questing in Legion. Due to the way scaling works it's recommended that any Legion questing (or mob grinding for that matter) should be done right after gaining a level until you are half-way through the level - because mobs don't gain a level until then.
More grinding, garrison quests, some Highmountain questing took Lyssan to 108. By this time Brewfest started and - while not really needed - I wasn't going to complain about 45k easy daily experience. After 108, I stopped doing any mob grinding and I relied solely on dailies, exploration, Legion quests that didn't require fighting and Garisson quests (Stables quests alone gave me almost half a level at 109). I reached 110 thirty days after Legion started with a played time (1-110) of 25 days and 20 hours
Notes: - Treasures in Broken Isles don't give any experience, ignore them - New Dalaran is a dangerous place, do not AFK or even stay around too much - there are elite mobs that can be aggroed and have AOE attacks that can one-shot you. - Thunder Totem can also be dangerous due to a world quest that can spawn there so check before you fly or port there - Brimstone Destroyer is a level 110 elite, linked to a mining world quest, that spawns in various zones very close to some flight points and can easily 2-shot you. Avoid.

Congratulations Lyssan! That is remarkable and so well done! Which one is next? Thanks Ferre! I will take a break for a while - next would probably be my undead hunter.

Hey congrats Lyssan. I appreciate your leveling notes, hope to do some of them. I dread Tanaan Jungle, that place seems dangerous for irons, even with stealth. Will have to try killing low level mobs, see how that goes. The lvl 70 (26 dps) daggers don't help, more like attacking with toothpicks.

Congrats Lyssan! Had that feeling you would be the first one to make it. Honestly, trying to catch you I pushed Ash a bit hard and that's how I bought the farm. Good luck with the hunter.
Thanks for the leveling info, that will help all irons following. I didn't realize the garrison quests scaled even doing them on a regular toon. I only opened up the bank on my iron.
