A greens-only no-death leveling run using the Iron rule set may be a close facsimile of Legion Iron'ing if not a bit easier (which may be a fun thing for beginners). You would be able to at least play through Legion content The above statement is not "normal WoW". The only reason that I keep advocating for this is because the current system isn't as workable as it used to be. Level scaling seemingly only took heirloom gear in mind to keep up with the HP increases on mobs. How can you counter balance that in just white gear and hope to survive on a majority of classes? We play the Iron Man challenge for fun right? The 7.3.5 changes aren't exactly great changes for the growth of the community. Sure snarky old-timers stick around, but the uptick in the challenge interest during Legion was a good thing. I'm not saying greens are the only way to go - but what is the next logical step to take if white gear can't keep up with the scaling curve?

A full attachment of green quality items may be far to significant for Iron Man. I don't however see the harm in for example experimenting the influences of wielding green weaponry with white armour. You only have to look at the most recent contest to see that the Rogue and to a bigger extent Warriors (Protection I can't comment on) are having to settle for the minnows of the challenge.

Yeah, some decent ideas to consider. Still too early to make adjustments, waiting for more player feedback. One thing for sure, melee has gone back to being really difficult, such as warrior and monk. I did hit 55 on my monk, took 3 days of /played time. Soooo slow, lotz of grinding single mobs.

I'm not sure about green-quality items, but I do think we could consider the following:
Talents Food buffs (They can't be tracked anyway, and they only really become useful and significantly available after level 80) White-quality enchantments (rugged armor kits, sharpening stones, scopes, etc) *edit* or even just enchants. How much can you do with junk gear? *edit* Oh, and fishing!

Certainly no green gear allowed as that would just be Blood thirsty with questing... maybe on just main hand/offhand and/or 2H. But honestly that might be far too much as weapon base damage affects a lot and weapons tend to give the biggest chunk of stats. Talents I personally fully support even if to just give a few more options for playstyle. Most of them won't make a significant difference as levels get higher anyways. Definitely no fishing or any other tradeskill that grants easy 'risk-free' dailies.

Certainly no green gear allowed as that would just be Blood thirsty with questing... And that is PERFECTLY FINE. Before Legion Bloodthirsty was just Ironman without the quests. They allowed green items so that people could kill mobs in the Legion areas. Now it's like the whole game became something similar to the Legion zones, it's only normal to update the rules... The challenge should be difficult, not impossible. It should be fun, not boring and tedious. It should attract new players, instead of chasing away existing ones... Allowing greens would NOT make the challenge a walk in the park. There's only ONE Bloodthirsty at level 110. ONE. It's not like everybody got to max level because of the green items.

Some good points there mosotti. I think a green gear challenge sounds like a great addition to what we have right now!

Don't we already have a challenge where you can use green gear? Isn't that what Tinman is for?

Isn't that what Tinman is for? Tinman doesn't permit green quality gear. I think a Green Man challenge as seperate to Ironman is a pretty cool idea, but I still want talents for Ironman itself.

Hm, yeah, Tinman doesn't allow green gear. (Note to self: read rules) Hahaha
I like the idea of a separate challenge. I think adding talents to the Ironman challenge would take away the legacy of the challenge. When it was first started, leveling was a lot harder than it is now, and people still managed to do it. I don't want it to become something where one concession is made, and then down the line people can argue, "oh, but you changed this when such and such came out." It just snowballs from there. But, again, I'm all for a separate challenge.
As far as talents go, Tinman does allow that. Worth a try, if that's what you're looking for.

Actually the challenge is harder now than it was when it started especially at higher levels due to the combination of scaling and less 'risk-free' dailies. Below level 30 might be a little bit easier now than when the challenge started but it is definitely harder now beyond that breakpoint even with specs. Sure a few specs have it easier than others but certain classes always did as well.

Just my perspective on green gear
I've leveled a rogue from 1 to 63 with a dice rule:
When I get a Questreward or any other green item (drop, crafting) I roll a D20 -) 1-15... I delete the item -) 16-17... I store the item until I enter a new zone -) 18-20... I'm allowed to equip it
I also do not wear any rings, trinkets, necklace or bracers. I destroy items of those types the moment I get them.
So basically I'm very limited in my items and most are very outdated. It's a challenge to fight two mobs at a time but one isn't a problem at all. Depending on the cooldowns I use, I lose from 10 to 50% health against a mob of my level.
I think a green gear challenge (at least until level 63) wouldn't be too much of a challenge; I might be wrong for other classes or levelranges though.

a question:
Is it possible to track equipped trinkets, rings,... or is it only possible to track equipped gear overall?
