Very limited initial impressions: - Lvl 94.3 Warlock: Mobs outside Garrison are now level 93 (named quest mobs and rare spawns are 95) - Lvl 65.1 DK: Mobs are level 64 (quest/rare 65) - Lvl 100.3 Mage: Mobs are level 99 (quest/rare 99) - Lvl 88.6 Paladin: Mobs are 88 (quest/rare 89) - Lvl 56.6 Warrior: Mobs are 55/56 (quest/rare 57) - Pop-up quest given that offers a choice between questing in Northrend or Outlands at level 58 or 60 (unsure need to get a character to 58 to test) - Cold Weather flying seems to be gone now... could fly in Northrend at 65. MoP flight seems free as well now. - Cata and MoP zones are all rated between 80-90 and 85-90 but there doesn't seem to be a pop-up quest to choose - Lower level zones seem to have a cap on mob levels (Elwynn mobs are all still lvl 19-20 for example if you are higher than that) - Old World zones all seem to be set to current min level through lvl 60 (Example: Feralas 35-60 now) outside of starting zones that are all still flagged as 1-10 Now for the ugly news: Mob scaling appears to assume you are in level appropriate gear for example: - Lvl 56 mobs on current patch have 2k-2.5k life... on the test server they now have over 9,000 (note that damage taken and your damage output seems roughly the same as it is now) Initial Opinions: - Very little change for pacifists - Blood Thristy difficulty increased, though with green items allowed still not horrible. - Ironman.... may become as or even more challenging than it has ever been in the past. Certainly MUCH harder than the current challenge.

Anyone know how long Blizz usually releases a patch after it hits the PTR? Was hoping to hit 110 before all this happens on live but it's not looking too good now. - Lower level zones seem to have a cap on mob levels (Elwynn mobs are all still lvl 19-20 for example if you are higher than that) I wonder if you will still get a lower amount of XP in zones you've out-leveled or if the XP will drop to zero. For instance, at 21+ would Elwynn still give some quest XP or would everything drop to zero forcing you to always stay in an at-level zone. - Lvl 56 mobs on current patch have 2k-2.5k life... on the test server they now have over 9,000 (note that damage taken and your damage output seems roughly the same as it is now) I remember Blizz said they wanted to fix leveling so mobs 1-60 would be harder to kill. They kinda started it with 1-10 leveling where it now takes longer to kill mobs than it used to. Once you hit 10 it seems to go back to being easy again. It sounds like they're finally doing it...

Someone posted a comparison video of killing a level 68 mob in Northrend on live vs. PTR. Both times he was naked with no weapon (he was a monk). On live he killed it within 3 GCDs, on the PTR it took 12. With full heirlooms he said it took 6 GCDs on the PTR. He did nearly die on the PTR video, he was naked though (I do doubt it would be much different for us though). gfycat.com/gifs/detail/BlandInformalHyena (live) gfycat.com/gifs/detail/GiftedGlitteringEeve (PTR) I wouldn't be suprised if they would tone it down a bit, but then again, 10-15 seconds per mob to kill it is also the time in Legion while leveling, so that as a baseline wouldn't really suprise me.

I copied my lv.39 Ironman Ork Fury Warrior to the PTR and tried to do a quest which involves killing Naga. Hell, this is difficult now in common gear! Every Naga brought me below 40% health, I had to use bandages after every fight. When I pulled two mobs, I'd die from the second one. I managed to kill the first one but health regeneration on Fury Warriors isn't that good. I definitely think leveling takes MUCH more time now if this stays. It's a hell of a challenge and I think getting as far as possible would be the new goal instead of maximal level. I wouldn't try a class with no selfheal. Next test: my Disc Priest... __________________________________________ Disc lv.28 - single mobs on my level (I was 28) seem to be no problem. defeatet them in 24-26 seconds
- single elite mobs (lv27 - 1 level below me) lasted 1min 25sec
- 2 bears (both 26 - two levels below me) felt like a boss battle. I had to use ALL my spells, CDs and without the fear I wouldn't have made it. My shield was gone so fast. I died in 1 of 3 battles.

I would suggest - if it stays this challenging - to allow talents in the future Ironman rules.

Not sure the small benefits of talents would matter much at higher levels. Some specs as we figured will still be viable, but it is going to be ugly for most others.

So here are some key points I'd like to share while playtesting a new Human Paladin on the PTR: 1. I immediately noticed that they have FINALLY figured out a way to increase the backpack bag space! A prompt comes up saying "Because you have an Authenticator attached, here are 4 extra bag slots" taking us from 16 to 20 2. There are now Heroes Call boards at Inns. Pretty handy way to guide you around into different zones. 3. Argus is thankfully missing from the sky. I hope this sticks. 4. Level scaling really messes with you if you are familiar with traditional leveling paths. For instance, at level 5, I was hunkering down for a fight with Princess the Pig, when I noticed, oh.. she's level 5... right.... That had me curious, so I wandered over to Westbrook Garrison to see if I could nab the Hogger quest at 5 as well, which I could! All the Gnolls in the area scaled down to 5 so fighting my way to him was easy, but, Hogger did * not* scale and was an elite level 11. I came back to fight him at 8. I decided to do a bit more investigating at 5, so I took a stroll into Westfall. Mobs there were all red, levels 10-11 to me. Duskwood "red" mobs were skulls, but the "yellow" mobs allowed me to see level, which were 20 and 21. I went back to finish Elwynn and didn't have too much trouble in white gear except for the Morgan the Collector quest where you have a 3 mob pull in the cottage. I strategised a great way to stun Morgan, LoS the caster, and focus on the melee, but I still had some trouble once Morgan broke out of stun and started trouncing me. I honestly don't think I could have done this pull without healing. Well maybe if I'd run away one kill after another... but you catch my drift. I am moving onto the Ironman Valhalla also known as Loch Modan for some more testing. 5. The world at large still has a semi-natural level progression to it, which I really appreciate (especially for the loremaster challenge I am going for): Elwynn 1-10 Westfall 10-60 Redridge 15-60 Duskwood 20-60 North STV 25-60 Cape STV 30-60 SoS, Blasted Lands, EPL, Ungoro, Winterspring etc...the same 40-60 spread. Northrend and Outland, similar spreads with minimum level requirements 58/62/64/67-80. Jade Forrest/Vash'jir and Hyjal all starting at 80, then a similar pattern to 84-90 for Dread Lands and Twilight Highlands. Draenor showing minimum for zones tho, which is odd because I'd figured that it would be a "choose your own path" kind of thing like the Broken Isles, which stays the same. 6. On my way to Loch Modan, I headed to Stormwind to catch a ride and noticed "Renato Gallina" on my minimap offering me a Wine Shop Advert! Yep, those level 1 Stormwind quests scale Got about 1500xp a pop from each of them. All-in-all, the beginning game feels about the same. A little more grindy, but that's not such a bad thing. I'm sure the real pain will come when mobs start massively outpacing your HP's, and you hit that annoying white gear gap post level 40.

Realizing too that Pacifist is going to be getting a bit of a break. It will be a lot easier to sneak past level-equivalent mobs for gathering resources rather than possible high level mobs that may see through stealth while farming mats and/or exploring the map for exp.

I did a bit more playtesting to find out if Iron Warlock would be doable at my current level [55] and spec [Destruction]. I logged into Winterspring and did the "Chop Chop" quest, killing 10 Treants and Lashers on both PTR and Live.
Here are the results:
PTR: Felgrits HPs: 3468 Voidwalkers HPs: 1734 Treants and Lashers HPs: 8808 Time to complete: 12m 48s
I was lucky if I could keep the Voidwalker alive for a single target. I would always have to resummon and wait for soul shards to repop back to 3 before opening attack on another target. Rotation would be open with Immolate, blow both conflagrates to build up enough soul shard fragments to do two Chaos Bolts, then spam Incinerate praying I could build up enough fragments to resummon my voidwalker on its eminent death. If I didn't have enough fragments, I would Fear and/or pop Undying Resolve to survive long enough to resummon the Voidy to get back on track. I left the Doomguard open for 'last stand' scenarios, but it still needs a soul shard to summon, so that may be out of the question.
Live: Felgrits HPs: 3468 Voidwalkers HPs: 1734 Treants and Lashers HPs: 2171 Time to complete: 3m 31s
I would open with Immolate, burn two conflags, and really only have to Incinerate once or twice, or fire off a single Chaos Bolt if I so chose. Voidwalker would be at about 1/2 to 3/4 life, so I could choose to resummon or charge onto the next target safely. I can honestly handle 2-3 targets without any downtime to resummon another Voidy or wait for Soul Shard repops (mostly because I never used them if I didn't Chaos Bolt). Fear and Unending Resolve are never used outside of dire circumstances.
So, this is doable at this level, . Not nearly as quick, but imho that's okay, I like the challenge and utilization of other skills. The downtime will get a bit tiring tho'. I honestly hope for a slight downgrade in the mobs HPs to get to a happy medium.

I did some PTR testing on my 61 druid and 102 hunter, and here's what we have so far...
At Level 102:
The Winterspring Cub daily was gray in my quest log and only offered 35xp. Looks like that quest will no longer scale at higher levels.
The Seal daily in Howling Fjord also no longer scales, only offered 45xp.
PvZ is still good and gave full xp.
Garrison dailies and quests still scale with full xp.
Mob xp in Draenor is still squished, only gave 19xp per kill.
At Level 61:
Good news - No huge xp squish in old world zones!! Vanilla zones give 7.5k quest xp. It's a bit lower (9.5k is full xp at 61), but not to an extreme like it is now.
Mobs in vanilla zones scale from 59-61. Killing them gave me: Lvl 59: 240xp or 480xp rested Lvl 60: 260xp or 520xp rested Lvl 61: 280xp or 560xp rested
I wasn't one-shotting them like I would be now, however they do go down much faster than in Outland and Northrend.
I dinged 62 after doing a few quests so...
At level 62:
Vanilla zones now give 5.6k quest xp
Mob xp in Vanilla zones: Lvl 59: 168xp or 336xp rested Lvl 60: 183xp or 396xp rested Lvl 61: 198xp or 396xp rested
Northrend Dailies at 61/62
The Seal daily wasn't available to me, can't remember if that opens up later or if it requires the quests in Kamagua to be completed first. I'm assuming it will will scale with the zone, so 58-80.
The Kaskala and Westguard Keep dailies were available. Not sure how these will scale as you level. On the live game the xp lowers quite a bit even before hitting 80, but maybe it will stay current 58-80 since that's the new zone level range.
Icecrown is a 67-80 zone so none of the dailies were available to me.
The Isle of Quel'Danas doesn't indicate a zone level but I imagine it will also be 67-80.
I'm really interested to know if Outland/Northrend mobs and quest xp will be heavily squished at 80. Or if Cata/MoP will be squished at 90. I don't have any toons at that those levels to copy over. It's strange to me that Vanilla zones are no longer squished at 60/61/62 but Draenor at 100/101/102 is.
Of course any of this can change from now until release.

I'm curious: how many players have made it to max from start to finish since the patch?

Zero... none have really even come close. I think a hunter made it into the 80's
