These are kinda grey areas in my view, and things I've been pondering on, so I wanted the community's opinion.
First, I've had several attempts, as most of us have. On my last attempt I came to find as I was leveling that one of the best ranged weapons for a significant stretch (that I wouldn't have to hope to show up on the AH anyway) was the BKP 42 "Ultra" (www.wowhead.com/item=3025). The problem here is that as Alliance, I have two options to purchase it from, both neutral vendors who are in zones far too high to flight path to at that level, which meant either wait to purchase it until long after I could equip it, or try a treacherous run in areas with mobs 15+ levels (not a great prospect when death is permanent). Horde, however, has a vendor in Orgrimmar and Tirisfal where they're readily accessible. Now, given the fairly unbalanced conditions, would you frown upon the idea of me sending myself one at around the appropriate level (and simply wasting the cash on something to compensate)? I mean I should honestly have that opportunity anyway. It isn't a big deal either way, and I can easily use a slightly worse option, but just curious on anyone's thoughts.
Second, what do you feel about things like rings/shirts/necklaces/offhand frills? Is it against the spirit of the challenge to give yourself items that offer no benefit other than cosmetics before you can safely reach them yourself? Do you consider that technically cheating? I don't think it goes against the ideas, as you're not actually helping yourself any, but I still feel like it's cheating, though I do want to do it. I'm just curious to see how other people feel about it.
