Hi All!
Ok so I thought I'd try this ironman thing with a squishy class that you know...wasn't a hunter...so I went with a lock - so far so good, but I've noticed that when I'm not sure where the safest place to quest is, I can usually get a good half a level by killing a few rare spawns...HOWEVER - I've also seen a disqualified challenger with the message (Level too high for number of killing blows (RAF?) I'm now worried that if I kill too many rare spawns I'll level with less kills and be disqualified? Does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks much in advance for any help!!

The only time you have to worry about that is if you are farming an area where there are NPCs that can help you kill and they get the killing blow instead of you. The ratio of kills to killing blows would have to drop below 90% to get you disqualified. Killing rares has nothing to do with it as you are more than likely getting the killing blow on the rare. Just be careful of those rares as they have been known to kill an ironman or two or three or ....

well right, but each kill gives you like 10x normal experience...if I kill 1000 mobs and make 10 levels great - if I kill only 100 rares I also make 10 levels, but then I've only got 100 total kills.....I'm betting the computer will see that and disqualify me and it will SUCK

The rare gives you the equivalent xp of turning in a quest. I've killed my share of rares and watched the xp and it's like turning in the quest when it's red. It's great xp and one to be taken advantage of if you come across them. You are very safe from disqualification if you want to go out and farm rares. More power to you.

At the higher levels, the rares give less percentage of experience per level. They're nice to farm, but not sustainable for long term leveling.

The "Level Too High" is REALLY lenient. I think ive read somewhere that it requires something like 1200 kills by Level 60 to be flagged. aving killed a few rares without much thought into it, I already had ~700kills by Level 21. And i very much doubt 20-60 is done in 300 kills...

I've got a toon that has leveled over 20 levels with nothing but rare kills, he still hasn't been flagged yet. He's my ironman #2. After a couple of hours playing ironman #1, I hop on #2 make my rounds and gain about a quarter of a level if everything I'm looking for is up. Actually all 3 of my Ironman toons I've moved fairly quickly through the old world this way.
