Excellent, thank you for mentioning that. I looked up your video, and it looked similar to what I had been doing. But... you didn't show yourself actually completing the quest. So I just *had* to do it for myself. After several tries, I somehow pulled it off. (The successful combat starts at about the 6 minute mark in the video.) Badironblood is level 57 now, and stuck on Bloody Breakout, the quest to rescue Koltira Deathweaver. The High Inquisitor is healing himself faster than I can damage him, and his heals are instant cast. I can interrupt his smites occasionally, and with Blood Presence and Death Strike, I am able to stay up for quite a while. I may have to try it with Frost Presence so I can do a little more damage, not sure. Or maybe I'll just grind out another level. Not sure how much help Chains of Ice and one minute per Strangulate are going to be, though. Also that's going to be a long grind, because I'm not even halfway to 58 yet. I lucked out while grinding the mines earlier and got pretty good gear - a few pieces of Light Plate, which is better than the stuff the Acheron smith sells. Also got a 2H Axe and even a cloak. I'm still yellow flagged because I guess I leaned a little too heavily on the Death Knight NPCs while farming the mine. My ratio should be back in the green shortly, though.

Well, crap. After my 6th Death Knight died, I think it's time to take a break from Death Knights. I have just been extraordinarily unlucky with spawns and the couple of quests in the start area that require you to get very low on health to complete them. Farming for gear is not a problem as long as you're careful and nobody else drags a hostile mob next to you when you're low on health and your Shadowmeld is on cooldown. But the fights with the Dark Rider of Acherus and High Inquisitor Valroth are just super tough below level 60. I suspect Death & Decay at 60 would make them easier. Farming XP to level 60 is just not something I want to do, though.

I am starting to be of the opinion that Death Knights may as well be allowed as "official" members of the challenge. When the level limit was 80/85 it made a lot more sense to have them not be an official part of the challenge due to how many free levels you got, but now with the level limit being 100 (110 shortly) there is plenty of challenge to the class.
You still have to do the brutal fighting through the DK starter area initially gearless. You still have the all the nasty expansion breakpoints at 60,70,etc to deal with. It's a melee class and subject to the joys that come with that fact. Heck you even are unlikely to be able to afford flight at 60 unless you get a few nice AH drops due to only 5 levels worth of questing.
Now in my opinion the class is VERY strong for a melee... not quite Monk level but probably ahead of druid/rogue. Death strike heals are the main reason why; if you weave them properly into your attack rotation you can heal much of the incoming damage.
Yes I know Death Knights get 54 "free" levels which is against the spirit of the challenge. So I propose this... stick a yellow flag on every DK if need be and maybe even only allow them to be added to the leaderboard at 60 to prevent hundreds of lvl 55 ones from flooding the leaderboard, but there is still a ton of challenge to playing one during and after the DK starting area.
The biggest potential downside to this from a "cheater" tracking standpoint is (and the best current argument in my opinion against EVER letting DK's be official) that the tracking of uncommon gear slot equipped is not possible as every Death knight starts with 12 slots of green gear already equipped. This means any player wanting to cheat could simply equip green gear to quest and log out back in their "proper" gear and the only way anyone would know is if they were seen wearing the gear or an Armory auto-save caught them in the act while they were playing.
All that being said I am having fun running this current Death Knight as a change of pace from my usual classes and this trip through the starting area was my best/fastest trip through yet... actually only the second DK that I have made it out with in 5 or so attempts. It's funny to spend so much time getting one measly level from 55 to 56 (easily longer to do that than to go from 56 to leaving the starting area)

I am really starting to question whoever is running this mining operation after the last 100 guys walk into the mine and none come out. It's only like a 50 foot tunnel.

Just created a Death Knight. First Iron for me in a while. Threw away all my gear immediately. Time to grind some miners and peasants for a shitty grey weapon.
