Nice job man. Long time coming, and I couldn't be happier for you. Your perseverance paid off. Hope you start up another iron so we'll still see you online.

Good job ! What next, retirement, or another toon? You can take Xaya out of iron, but you can't take iron out of Xaya :-)

thanks all
took almost 2 years and 46 attempts....
I tried many classes, but after MoP only did monks or hunter, and those are the only 2 classes I was able to get past level 60
What I learned on all these attempts (applies to monks and hunters only):
- at 63-64, there is no point in staying in Azeroth, head to outlands. I usually did Hellfire Peninsula, Zangarmarsh, Terrokar, Nagrand, Blade's Edge if needed - at 71-72, head for Northrend. Borean Tundra is easier than Shadow Moon valley or Netherstorm, and give way more xp. I did NOrthrend in that order: Borean Tundra, Howling Fjord, Dragon Blight, Grizzly Hills, Zul 'Drak, Scholazar basin, Storm Peaks and finally Icecrown. Be careful, many quests can be death traps, but monks and hunters can do all quests from those zones, except Zul'Drak (you'd need to do the amphithater of anguish), Storm Peaks (unless you risk doing the Drakkensrynd) and Icecrown (many quest there involve elites that hits like trucks). - You don't need to use Drakuru's elixir to get the quest achiev for Grizzly Hills (those quests can be skipped and you'll still get the achiev). All the quests in Grizzly Hills except those involving Drakuru's elixir are safe to do with no risks of being flagged if you register on the website -Scholazar Dailies can be rough, and are far from other questing areas, so can probably get better xp/hour by questing in Storm Peaks or Icecrown - Xp from Cata mobs get a big drop at 85, so if you can handle them at 84, start Hyjal or Vashj'ir. You should be 83 or 84 when you reach dead ends in Icecrown (quests involving elites), but dailies there (and Storm Peaks if you open them) still give decent xp
I only had hunters that got above lvl 85, so the following observations may not be true for other classes - at 87, the Icecrown dailies do not give much xp fo the time needed to do them, so you better open and do the Deepholm dailies - at 87-88, Uldum is doable. The quest 'ending the ritual' is particularly tricky, I had to use Feign Death twice, and almost died. I do not recommend doing that quest to anyone. If you really want to open the follow up quests, use a scout to figure out some way to do it - at 88, many Twilight Highlands mobs hits almost as hard as the easier Jade Forest mobs. So if you wanna get the most xp/hour played, I suggest starting grinding the striders and caterpillars in Jade Forest, and save Twilight Highlands for later (when the expansion hit, maybe the xp from the mobs there will be higher, while xp from Pandaria will drop). At 88 about 1/2 hour of grinding those 79k hp mobs was giving me a bubble worth of xp. At 89, I needed 45 minutes of grinding to get a bubble

Are you going to roll another class? The second time around is way easier as you are familiar with the quests, know which to avoid, and have a well drawn out plan.
Awesome job.

not sure if I'll roll another class. Right now I'm getting my hunter scout to 90 to be ready for the expansion, and I have 8 normal 90s to get geared on Timeless Isle (those burden of eternity are really hard to come by:-), not to mention that my wife thinks I spend way too much time on this game I'll probably create a new iron on WrA (thinking of a worgen warlock), just to keep in touch with the guys there, but I'll do it a lot slower

Congratulations, Xaya!!! I'm so glad you got there - so well deserved, and thank you for the tips. Hoping to get back to ironman playing soon. I'm just glad to be back at all.

Weeeeee! Congratulations fellow hunter! *jumps around wildly and fires lots of fireworks* Well again, many congratulations for so much persistence! Always liked reading your posts and felt very much with you if that happened to be a post in "death rage". I recently "lost" an non-iron character at lvl87, which was killed for the first time on the Road to Kun-Lai Summit. Damn...it made me stop playing for almost a week Now I hope to read from you again on the boards, best wishes and always safe paths to you.
