Hi there. Today, our beloved hero "Ironoxide" died to one of the (I think the first) elite Tauren in the Freewind Post/Grimtotem Questline. He was a level 46 Paladin. His NPC helper died when the mob still had 3k (from 8,2k) HP left.
Now, I tried that quest also. I had a one handed weapon and a shield and I am a 45 warrior. I ran away at ~2,5k HP of the elite, soon after he killed my NPC.
Did anyone kill that mob? It semms you need quite an amount of damage, damage we don't have as melees in white gear. Has some caster or hunter killed him? You are not that dependand on gear as we are.
Because of this, I think Thousand Needles can't be completed for some (most? all?) classes. I am stuck at 42/60 quests at the achievement and have to kill this elite to get new ones. I could already go to 45-50 zones, but I think I am too low with 46.

Sorry to hear of your loss - rest in peace Ironoxide I hope his spirit returns even stronger! (What a fantastic effort to reach 46!) Unfortunately I still have some ways to go before I can start in Thousand Needles; but hopefully some other folks might be able to provide some insight on this quest and how they handled it/how it went. Would be very helpful for future Ironmen considering the area

My warrior died, but I was intending to keep at her for a bit to test out quests in Dustwallow. I'll try and head over to Thousand Needles at some point soon and see if I can make any headway with that quest (she's 40 now so I'm assuming I need at least a couple levels still.
