This is not an iron-death, but I wanted to mention it as a warning. My non-iron lvl 27 druid on WA had completed the Darnassus daily cooking quest, leaving rice cakes for the ancestors at the graveyard there. She mounted up, headed for the AH -- and died in the middle of the field where the Midsummer Festival had been. This was the day after it ended. Recount said the cause of death was Environment: Fire and showed her taking fire damage. It killed her very fast and there was no fire visible anywhere around. I don't know the cause - it was not reproducible, at least not by riding and running over the same general area. I filed a Bug Report with Blizz, since this would have been devastating to an iron. (It was also her first death. ) Has this happened to any of your normals? I wonder if it was something residual from the midsummer fires, but don't know.

Yes, I'm sure Deathwing is dead there. And several of my normal characters have been killed by Deathwing on various servers - this was nothing like that. No visible fire or flames anywhere, no one else even around. Definitely a puzzle.

And Deathwing is never flaming starting zones.
You can check whether DW has been killed or not on your realm. On the farthest shore of the lake in Stormwind with the isle of portals (Eastern Earthshrine), stands Chromie and a couple of guards (coordinates 75,9). If DW has been killed, she will show you his demise, else she just talks to you.

Rats !! - Gopher bought it at 35 again from 'Old Cliff Jumper' 's infectious bite. the RNG was really against him on this one having been taking him out since level 32. Should have known better to be honest. Casted Shield and Renew instead of a straight flash heal...... too much of the old guild heroic healing routine before this excellent challenge came along.
the quest continues..... back tomorrow after I have lamented the latest passing ! *sobs*

I am gutted! Died at lvl 45 of, once again, a completely stupid and avoidable death by elite Horde guard in Ashenvale of all places - one shot me. Pissed me off b/c it was a stupid guard where I did not expect one - be careful as the Cataclysm really messed up waht you know about Azeroth. I thot the area was just PvE and had no idea I had wandered into a Horde area b/c it did not use to be. The mobs were listed as regular mobs, no PvP indicator and then wham! f'in elite Horde guard one shots me and I was stunned. I had just gotten my first set of Plate mail *cry* This was my best attempt out of what seems like about 10 attempts now, idk. I only regret all the time I put into this toon. Re-rerolled her...but it all seems too painful to consider going through it all again. 45 lvls took me such a long, long, long, long time, ack! I may try again I may not, sub is running out (again) and I am just drained, emotionally. I got the feeling I could actually do it, as no pally had made it yet, but this sort of stupid mistake b/c of a world change just makes me loathe the challenge and question the point of the challenge. It has stopped being fun. Which was the point...so idk. I want to enjoy WoW and my old OP main is boring so I have been doing this for months now, and honestly it is just a miserable grind now (if I could at least NOT have to face the level 1-10 quests again that would be ideal - lol - the thot of doign those YET AGAIN is f'in killing me). Any thots on how to re-capture the fun? ??

It saddens my heart when one of my co-pallys bites the dust I can only tell you what you should have done - and what I do. I level several paladins at the same time. When I'm tired or have only a short while I level one of those young ones, so that when my main dies, an alt stands ready at level 12 or maybe even 15, it's not that frustrating to start over then. Rigth now I have one 14, one 12 and one 11 standing ready in the wings

Tapal -
Take a break from the challenge. When it is no longer fun for you then take a break. I know it's difficult when you lose them (I've lost mine at 44, 55, 66 and 75) and I'm currently at 67 on Kahlee whom I am taking a break from at the moment. I am leveling a priest in full heirlooms and flying through the zones. It's letting me take a break from the pressures of the challenge. You might want to try something like that to relieve from stress and pressure you are feeling right now. Then you will suddenly get the bug again and off you go ironmanning once again.
R.I.P. and I hope to see you back in it again when you are ready once more.

My sympathies. It does feel like a kick in the teeth when you do this challenge with passion. You asked how to recapture the fun ?........... This challenge turns back the clock to when WoW used to always be a challenge to level. As well as that, you have the time when you are forced to wait/think and watch the environment....... try listening to all the hard work that has gone into the detail. Turn up the graphics and in-game music and do the RP-thing. In the normal game, there are so many things that just accelerate you through the 1-85. Poke them in the eyes and enjoy. I hope you reroll another IM soon.

I roll up a few starters of favorite types...worgen rogue, tauren shaman, blood elf priest..then I have a hunter, which eases the pain of leveling an ironman..so depending on my mood, I will pick one to play with (and maybe kill off by stupidity) lately I haven't been doing much, just too busy in RL...occasionally I find something for my bored ol main, a hunter, to do, which is, at the time, the Argent Tournament stuff..though I really suck at jousting..On my ironmen, I always take the time to view the scenery..who are the two kids whose pictures hang in Gram Wahl's house? and there is a goldfish in the water tub at the Hayward Bros. fishery and a fearsome trophy fish over the mantel..

I actually participated in a RP event the other day in Shattrath. I saw it on the WrA forums and thought I would check it out. I had planned to kind of lurk and watch and listen but someone actually engaged me in conversation and I went with it. It was very enjoyable and I would definitely try it again. It was something different from what I usually do while I play.

I was trying to get back into this but I just ended up killing my shaman after about 20 minutes. I'm thinking I should roll another ironman to play so I can warm up before attempting my warrior.
