My Naked Gnome Warrior, Fenakwarv, met his end in Loch Modan today, at level 22, when my internet connection decided to go /afk just as I started a quest to help some Dwarves and the bad Dwarves were just starting to attack.
Not real happy about that, but I do have my Naked Draenei Warrior, Fenakwariv, at level 24 who I was planning to replace with the Gnome.
I guess I'll just have to move forward with an overpowered Draenei and hope that doesn't diminish whatever achievements I ... uh ... achieve.

(miss posted in wrong thread, moved here)
One-shot death from Horde Guard.
Saw a Horde banner on a settlement up ahead and immediately turned around, but too late. Must have been an advance scout or something because I wasn't close to the Horde camp at all.
Quick spur of the moment visit to Azshara from Ashenvale since I was right there. Didn't expect to die at level 30 in a level 10-20 zone, especially since the Horde outposts in Silverpine offered no threat.
With my subscription expiring in a couple days, and major changes in the next patch, this may be it for me.
Enjoy!

I created a new Gnome Warrior, Fenaki, to reserve the name for later.
Investigated specs a bit and it seems that for a naked Warrior, a spec will only provide a bare minimum of additional abilities since most require an equipped weapon or shield, or are awarded at higher (80+) levels.
Protection, which I thought would be the weakest spec, actually looks to be the strongest. Last Stand (38), Shield Wall (48), and Demoralizing Shout (52) provide some useful defensive measures, and Deep Wounds (32) and Enrage (54) provide some offensive benefits. Granted, all of these abilities come after the highest level I have ever attained, but I don't want any added advantage once I get there.
Arms looks to only get Thunder Clap, which Protection also gets, which while useful, doesn't provide the benefits of those other abilities.
Fury gets Piercing Howl, which is comparable to Thunder Clap, and a few other minor abilities which makes me think Arms (which is the default) would be the most difficult spec.
My subscription expires the day before the patch, and I have the real world to contend with, but I may be back later with ... Fenaki, my Gnome Arms Warrior! (I have abandoned class identification in the name since I have decided that Warrior is the only class worthy of my challenge)

Fenaki, Gnome Arms Warrior, level 13
Created after the patch for a completely new patch experience, and my initial reaction is things are MUCH easier, in some respects.
Not referring specifically to combat (more about that later), but experience has gotten a HUGE boost. Simple breadcrumb style quests seem the same, but others look to be giving three times as much experience (or more). I've completed a level (10ish) with as few as four quest turn-ins!
I have leveled up to 13 doing nothing but exploration and non-combat quests, never got that high before. Ready to start combat quests now.
So far, only killed around half a dozen mobs or so, and it 'feels' like they hit harder and I hit weaker. Mobs 5 levels below me have brought me to half health, and getting chased by mobs at my level takes a big chunk out of my health as I run away, although they do seem to disengage sooner.
I'm sure others experiences, with armor and weapons, isn't as difficult as mine, and not sure if this will be true at higher levels, but so far post-patch, combat 'feels' more difficult playing naked. If the quest experience boost holds up to help me level, should be fine (I think, hope?), if not could be a challenge (but isn't that the point).

Fenaki, Gnome Arms Warrior, level 14
Completed the 5 starter area sub-zones. Nice to see that the Draenei and Night Elf starting areas have been opened up to other races. Gave about an extra 20% of a level from 13 to 14 that I wasn't expecting. Some quest experience was a pathetic 10 or 15 exp (some were 5 or even 0. worst quest reward was a paltry 2 coppers with 0 experience), but worked up to a few hundred a quest for a few, so it all added up.
Combat was no problem so far, but I was fighting mobs 10ish levels below me, so it should have been fine (and it was).
Quest experience continues to be high. Breadcrumb from the Hero Board to Redridge gave 20% of level 14. That's some breadcrumb!
Doing the quests at the first hub in each of the starting zones now. All gray quests, but do enough of them and they add up.

Sounds like a lot of time spent for very very little gain. I don't see the point unless you're just looking to complete every quest in the game.

Sounds like a lot of time spent for very very little gain. I don't see the point unless you're just looking to complete every quest in the game. Playing naked, I try to maximize my experience, so I do every quest I can find and only play with rested bonus. My level expectations have a much lower upper bound than if I was playing with gear, so doing extra low experience quests adds up. Doing a quest that awards 0 experience may seem pointless, but if it opens up a quest chain that might give a total of 5% of a level, or more, that is well worth doing. Do enough of those and you've gotten a free level. Being 32 (thanks to those pointless low level quests), instead of 30, could make a difference between life and death. I am something of an obsessive compulsive completionist, so doing EVERY quest before moving on isn't a bad thing, it's almost a requirement. I read many posts of players dying to at-level mobs, or AOEing a group of five, or other very dangerous and reckless behavior. People are in such a hurry to get to max level that they almost guarantee they will die long before they get there. Tortoise and the Hare.

Fenaki, Gnome Arms Warrior, level 15
Doing mostly gray quests, I've tallied up 288 kills, with a grand total of 8 kills that award experience.
That's prevented me from adding myself to the Challenge website. Never did like that rule. Still have plenty of gray quests to do, and gray mobs to kill, so my percentage will drop even lower than my present 3%.
Eventually I'll start killing mobs for experience and maybe someday, far in the future, I MIGHT get my status into green territory. (more than likely I'll die without an entry in the records and be forgotten from history)

Fenaki, Gnome Arms Warrior, met his end at level 17.
Thought I'd pay a visit to one of my brethren doing research in a turtle shell on Bloodmyst Isle.
While I can't defeat the level 16 mobs in the area, at 17, I can survive and reasonably escape while I gather some exploration experience (I was visiting a member of the Explorers' League after all).
When leaving the safety of his shell, I attracted the undesired attention of one of the local murlocs. Not to worry, can easily survive while I flee and wait until it loses interest.
However, unbeknownst to me, the Blacksilt Shorestrikers have the ability to entangle me in a net. No worries, I just use my Escape Artist ability and I am once again on my way to safety.
Unfortunately, during my escape and brief entrapment, I had wandered into the territory of another wandering murloc. While I had shaken my previous pursuer, I had now made a new friend who enjoyed my company so much they wanted to keep me close with their net.
Murlocs are very rough with their friendly affections, and even with an attempted bandage while tied up, I succumbed to the good natured horseplay.
I thought long and hard about hanging up my Iron attire, but thought I'd give it one more try.
While the mobs do seem more difficult to defeat in combat, the much increased experience had kept me ahead of the quest mobs I actually do engage in combat. The only question is how long until the extra experience is no longer enough to keep me ahead of the curve.
I began the venture once again with Fenakii, Gnome Arms Warrior, and have reached level 5.

As a longtime Hordie (actually Forsaken, born and bred) I thought I'd reacquaint myself with my old stomping grounds. (it's been a long time since I visited the lands of my youth)
Created Hornaki, Blood Elf Arms Warrior, and reached level 5.
Not familiar with the Horde zones anymore, so I'll probably be even slower than normal (is that even possible?!), but will also give me the added benefit of knowing about Horde encampments when I venture near on my Alliance Irons (last trip to Azshara was caused by fatal ignorance).

Fenaki, Gnome Arms Warrior, met his end at level 17, again. (Fenakii had previously passed thanks to Invasion BS and didn't have the heart to post. Reclaimed the previous name for this latest incarnation) ... Named mobs 7 levels below bring me to deaths door, and 6 below are unbeatable. Forgot I had made that post. Knew named mobs were more of a challenge than regular mobs, but thought 6 levels above should be enough to give me a chance. Took on the wandering murloc on Azuremyst Isle (17 vs. 11) and once he brought me to half health, and he had more, thought it was time to bail. Plenty of health left to get away safely. Unless, of course, you are pursued half way across the entire zone (ok, slight exaggeration there, but I could not believe how far he pursued me). Still have Hornaki, my Blood Elf Warrior, at 14. Since I don't know the Horde quests as well, and where to find the easy experience, I feel I am already behind compared to my alliance characters. We'll see how it goes, but I don't have high hopes. Fenaki will NOT be resurrected. RIP Fenaki

Hornaki Blood Elf Warrior dead at 16.
As I said, not as familiar with Horde quests, and my ignorance proved deadly.
Had a quest in Brill to exorcise some spirit or something and spawned a mob one level above me. Since that appears to always be the case, regardless of your level, don't know that I could ever do that quest, but gave it a shot.
Mob quickly had me down to half health, while barely making a dent, so I fled the building and ran across town. Once at a safe? distance, used a bandage and waited for the mob to disengage since I left it behind. Suddenly, it exited the building, so I ran, expecting it to eventually give up. Had to be careful while fleeing since I didn't want to aggro any more mobs, and I eventually need to make turns (can't run in a straight line forever) so it eventually caught me. Tried another bandage since the cooldown was over, but would it be enough? Thought I'd see if I could get to the UC and try the portal to Silvermoon if it still hadn't disengaged (not sure if that works in combat though). But, sorry to say, it was not enough.
Not knowing the Horde quests as well, I was about a level behind what I could get from the starting zones on an Alliance character. Can get to 18 on Alliance since I know what quests in the next tier of zones are safe, but for Horde I don't, so was just finishing up the starter zones (and breadcrumbs), and might have made 17 before moving on.
Decided I would make one more attempt, this time as another Panda, Alliance side since I am more familiar. The extra starting zone, and the rested bonus bonus, might make a difference in leveling since in Legion things do seem more difficult playing naked, and I need all the levels and experience I can get. We'll see how far the increased quest experience will get me before the mobs overtake me.
In case I can not get out of the Panda starting zone (final boss mob was doable before if careful, but not sure if that is still the case), I did create a Worgen and a Goblin to see if you can still get out of their starter zones while naked (never played a naked Goblin before). I'll let them gain some rested bonus while I play the Panda (sadly, no easy to get to inns for Worgens/Goblins that I know of at the very beginning). Intend to be ultra cautious and overly careful this go around.
Whichever race can get out of the starter zone will very probably be my last Iron (and probably the end of WoW since I never finished the last expansion and not all that interested in this one).
Fenapawai Pandarean Warrior at level 6 and counting.

Made a stupid mistake with Fenapawai as I was almost off of the Panda island so I thought I'd give it one more final attempt.
Fenak, Panda Warrior, has reached level 18,with quests to turn in for 19.
Only challenge to getting out of the starting area was a quest to fight the Guardian of the Elders. Coin flip at level 9, so did some grinding to reach 10, and was easily doable then.
Just finishing up the quests in the starting zones (Elwynn, Dun Morogh, Teldrassil, Azuremyst), and done lots of non-combat quests in the next tier (Westfall, Loch Modan, Darkshore, Bloodmyst). Starting combat quests in the second tier of zones at level 19 is the most advanced I've ever been, so things are looking good.
Also made a non-naked, full Iron, Panda Shaman, Fesha, and he's at level 19, serving as something of a scout for my naked. Easy.

My non-naked, full Iron, Panda Shaman, Fesha, is dead at 28 due to underwater disconnect drowning.
Fenak, Panda Warrior, has reached level 28 and will have to move on without his Shaman scout.
Had planned to continue on with Fesha when Fenak died, but apparently not, so barring a major change of heart Fenak, will be my final Iron. I better make it worthwhile.
