I'm also running no First Aid, and no food... and decided that since I like the look of the Blood Elf starting gear, I'm going to wear that all the way. Because what better way to announce myself to every mob in the zone than running around in flashy green and gold getup! *laughs* I have another character that is a bet with a friend for a much easier process... to grind to 85 and wear only gear that is looted from mobs. Nothing from vendors or AH, and while she can have talent points, the rest of the rules are the same as Ironman. hmmmmm, that actually sounds cool... what about quest rewards?

On my second run, things are going to be a little more interesting. -No AH. I wasn't using the the AH with Lauyssa either, but it's a trend I'm going to continue. I found out I was making more than enough gold from traveling and doing things for people anyways. She lived a frugal lifestyle. -No mounts until 40. I'm going to play by the old school vanilla and BC rules as far as mounts go. So, 40/60 for ground, 70 for flying, etc. -No hearthing. I won't be using any of the flight-masters either, save for the one between Darnassus and the mainland since a boat no longer sails through to the mainland. -Going to do the best I can to stick to yellow quest area and zones. That being said, I tend to be a completionist as well. I'll be trying to follow a path where Reyana can get up close and personal with the Horde though.

Nope, no quest rewards - no quests at all! It's a straight grind all the way.

Especially if I won't pick up a mount until 40. Running around everywhere, and then running -back- for gear and supplies is a bit too hardcore for me ahaha.

There's a line between 'hardcore' and 'boring'. I don't play this game to be bored! I wonder how much lower-level mob grinding the higher level toons are having to do.

technically food and drink are consumable so it's not allowed You're allowed food and drink so long as they do not provide a stat bonus.

I've been leveling up 1st Aid, but I haven't used it. I haven't drank or eaten anything either.
Back in vanilla I tried an Ironman-like challenge. Basically same set a rules here, except:
1. No auction house, no vendors. 2. No quests 3. No chests 4. You could use any gear that dropped off of a mob (grey, green, blue, etc.) but you couldn't repair it. Once it was broken you tossed it. 5. You could only use bags that dropped off of mobs. 6. No farming mobs that were grey to you for gold or gear. You had to kill mobs that were at least green to you.
So that challenge forced you to continually level despite your gear and it's condition and because of limited bag space you could only store so much back up gear to replace what broke.

I"m doing about the same... No food, no 1st Aid, no add-ons I haven't decide on no AH yet but at 16 I haven't so far.
I've also added for myself and the personally challenge No hearthstone, No mount (I'm a druid so travel form is a class skill)I'm also limiting Flight points.

While many may see this as a "casual" take on the ironman challenge, it also keeps it from seeming like too much of a grind. Yes, a huge part of the fun is not knowing if that elite 3 levels above you saw you or not (RUN!), but once you hit those higher levels, it just becomes a green mob grind... And we don't have time for that with work and all XD This is my husband's and my -personal- take on the ironman: - The only items we can use are those we loot off of beasts. This does include greens. - So no AH or vendor! - No gear enhancements, including gems, enchanting, and reforging - No professions of any kind, *including* first aid - No potions/buffs/etc except class and quest ones - We only group together. Who wants to be lonely for 85 levels? - No dungeons, raids, battlegrounds, or arenas. - We run a level 3 guild... So we kind of have to join haha - Still NO DEATHS - No repairing* * I really liked Ironyaa's idea of no repair, so I added it into ours as well. We're not quite sure if this will be a big enough adrenaline rush, so we're keeping the talent points out as well... Haha xD -- Although he is not an rper, and I am interested in it (never tried), we just felt that this adhered more to the meaning of the game. I mean, what hero ever helped someone out, was offered a reward, and was like, "Nah bro, I'm doin' it for teh lols"? And as wow is an mmo, it's nice to be in a guild. Otherwise, if we want hardcore single player, we'll go play a skyrim warrior. Shirtless.
