Essentially yes it will give people with limited time to play, time to catch up again, but equally will give skilled players with a well mapped out efficient route an edge, ofc there would be no time for dailys, you would want to move on, this would bring a new skill level, again feeding in to the more experienced players advantage, but essentially it still comes down to one thing, DONT DIE. This is where the skill counts. Not dying is a matter of skill, leveling efficiently is also a matter of skill. I see nothing wrong with this.If my 2 closest adversaries, who i believe both work, did'nt die im pretty sure this would have gone down to the last hour of the last day. The pressure would have been enormous at the end and there would have been tears im sure :} I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have stopped at 79 if they didn't die. There is nothing wrong with it, I level efficiently anyway, im sure you do too, you have been doing this a long time, you have vanilla down to a fine art at this point im sure. BC is where the time will be made, how many people are going to have BC down to a fine art at this point, again this is where its won and lost, time is not a factor, only life or death. Yes your right i wouldnt have stopped at 79, in the time alloted i could have easily without dying ofc, gotten to mists, maybe around 91-92 i originally stopped at 74, when asy died on his second character and taliron died on his first. When taliron started his run again i leveled to 79, as i felt pressured to do so, imagine if he hadn't of died, what pressure i would have been under. Pressure enough to take risks and die im sure. Im not saying your idea is bad, its a good idea, but it doesnt help the people that dont have time to play, as much as you think it might, as ordinarily but not exclusively these people will not be as skilled or knowledgable, it further helps the people that know how to play efficiently, it will be won and lost in Burning Crusade. So therefore not really that much different from its current format, just less complicated.

To avoid giving the advantage to whoever has the most free time to play, how about the fastest (not the first) to reach a certain level in a given time?
Provide a screen shot of your /played time when you reach the target level and winner is who ever has the fastest time in the month (or whenever).
May be more difficult (or impossible?) to track, but an idea. Not that I really considered jumping into the contest, but once I saw how high people were getting, my first though was, "Forget that!". A race to a level would always give others, even later comers, an opportunity.

The leveling contest brought a spark to my iron man, in a ironman leveling contest having 10+ levels to catchup is a issue
When i would have to take risks when the leader can do dailies etc to stay in front.
once completed I couldn't start another, tried a bloodthirsty but was bored.
Leveling a dead scout 90 -100 gotta say was fun , used a health pot ...it was like a fat kid with a cupcake...
so no new irons for me till legion at this stage

I would love to see another contest, even if there were no prizes. Just the fun of entering the contest is enough! :-)
