Yes, that happened to me too - I had about 5% HP left. The quest is doable but you need to release from the rocket in the water and swim to shore.

Seen a lot of folks nearly die from that quest but has it actually killed anyone yet?

For Horde Glory Amidst Chaos in Burning Steppes seems undoable. The quest before this is Assault on Dreadmaul Rock where you mount a drake to kill mobs -- which is easy BUT does not actually help for Glory Amidst Chaos because the mobs are still everywhere. I almost died when I charged in. I skipped and went to Winterspring.

In NE Bone Wastes in Terrokar, there is a 64 elite spider named Deathskitter. It hits for about 1k, and wanders fairly wide. Avoid it.

A few ppl thougth it was related to the pet, but it seems even a few petless toons encountered that bug

Okay, so I (Dvorette) managed to survive the Funggor cavern bug this afternoon--thanks to reading this thread! Oh, I didn't remember the bug before I went into the cave (my memory isn't THAT good), but once I noticed my health start to tick down with no mob around, all the wisdom of this thread came back to me and I actually did some reasonable: I feigned death, which shifted the aggro onto my bear, then hearthed out as soon as the DOT stopped ticking on me. Admittedly, that DOT seemed to last forever, so my salvation came VERY late, with less than 10% health. And my bear was rapidly losing health the whole time to a DOT, too. And okay, so maybe my bear died precisely as my hearth kicked in, so maybe I was lucky I didn't get DOT'ed a second time, interrupting the hearth attempt? But, no matter how lucky I was, I did live, barely, thanks to this thread! Otherwise I would have died a slow, painful death with a puzzled grimace on my face--which is never a good thing.
Anyway, in gratitude, I wanted to contribute some knowledge about where the mob lurks (assuming there is a pattern to it and it can't occur anywhere in the cave). I turned right, not left, when I entered the cave, and I encountered the anomaly at the big platform right before you go down the steep ramp to where what's his face's tools are. I wonder if one can't go down the left path instead to get the quests done and avoid the problem? (Not that Dvorette is going to go back in there and test it out. . . .) Does anyone who has encountered this bug remember where it happened?

I usually go left, and encountered the bug (but it may have happened on the rare times that I used right). If I remember well, it always started between the 'tools' and the last part of the cave where you go to kill the named one

If we know now that it's a dot being applied by something, we should report that to Blizzard's Bug Team... as far as we knew it was an invisible mob period... maybe the additional info of knowing that it's a bug will help them fix it?

Okay, so that's not at all where I encountered it. So we have to assume it could happen anywhere--sad. . . .

I just spent the last half hour testing and re-testing the invisible mob in the Zangarmarsh cave. I have always had a theory that it was AoE attacks that aggro the mob and I am nearly certain this is true now. I ran back and forth repeatedly through that section of tunnels both fighting and out of combat and NEVER got aggro from the invisible mob except when I used Blood Boil (my AoE) If a hunter turns off thunderclap, warlock removes shadow shield from their Voidwalker or any other class avoids AoE attacks they should be safe in my estimation. Also learned that the "mob" must be a Marsh Dredger/Lurker even though it can't be targeted because at one point it cast the entangling roots spell on me. If one of you Iron hunters with a high level scout could go test to confirm it isn't just a hunter issue that would be great

It isn't just a DoT it seems it is attacking you as well until you get out of range or Shadowmeld... the damage stops if you run far enough way when the mob resets itself.
