So, I just started a Paladin. And it's just horrible you go OOM even at low level. And it doesn't sound as if it gets better later on.
I also think 2-hand is much better because of the increased damage from your starting attack (Crusader Strike, eh?). Oh well, only level 11 at the moment.

No it doesn't get much better later on. There is a whole lotta auto-attacking in your future. Good luck! (The only reason I kept going on mine is because she was high when that nasty patch came out that ruined SoI for us. )

Now I took out my level 46 Pally. I actually made it to 47 doing Quests in Western Plaguelands. After making it to 47, where some of the mobs en WP turned grey, I went to Eastern Plaguelands. It was not too bad. I could even survive a double pull without going OOM. Paladin feasibility is way up from Pandaria.

Now that is good to hear, I'd thought the lack of Flash of Light (which really should be available given all three specs have it) would give a lot of survivability problems. Are Word of Glory and Seal of Insight enough then? Good to know if so, I'd like to play my lowbie pally a bit more but I was rather concerned it might be a bit tough...

I agree with you on Flash of Light. It's unfair, and my praeterio censeo whenever I'm in contact with Blizz. As WoG has casting time unspecced you still have to plan when to use it, to use it to your advantage. We still have Lay on Hands as the "Oh crap" thing. And a stun + bandages has saved my Iron-behind more than once. Maybe I am in a sweet spot levelwise, but my mana lasts me good. It's not the "Judgement, Crusader's Strike, auto attack, Judgement, auto attack, Hammer of Wrath, WoG, loot, eat & drink"-routine it was in MoP. Today I just had had enough of procrastinating and thought "Well I have to try. If it's impossible I'll at least die standing!" I hope Warets will live long yet.

Sounds better than I expected anyway, good to hear! My iron pally hasn't got Lay on Hands yet, I look forward to having that, will be rather useful I think!

Just started an Iron Paladin.
Can't be any worse than Warrior.

What's better for Iron Paladin - to use 2H or 1H+shield? Right now with 3-5 lvls of difference with mobs I manage to kill them with my 2H sword though I get hitted hard enough.

I'm running a 1H mace and shield on my lvl 61 but haven't really started questing in outlands yet. That combo seemed to work ok for the old world.

At my 26 lvl pally i think it's better to use 1h+shield. 2h doesn't have much higher damage yet, and shield gives me 30% of total armor.
Plus i thought this challenge will be much worse. It's not piece of cake, but it's not so hard. Yet. I only had 1 near-death experience so far with rare mob.

To quote myelf: I have felt the same way - safety in sword + shield versus the faster killing with a 2hander. I found an obvious solution. Have both, make two equipment sets with the only difference being the weaponry (ofc. as we have not many choices) and then put the icons on the bars, then you can change at will - even in the thick of battle, it is only armour that cannot be changed while in combat. It takes up an extra slot or two in my bags, but that's not normally a problem. I chop away to my heart's desire with my great sword, and if the enemy is too tough, or an unexpected add joins in, I click a button and voila me with 1hand sword and shield

Good idea Dranina, I hadn't thought of that. I'll have to pick up a 2H and give it a try.

Is it only me, or is WoG healing for far less now?

Necro thread but thought it worth leaving my experiences.
I levelled to around 40 in retribution with two hander. In early 40's I switched to protection and carried on with that all the way so far. I don't find playing protection slows me down all that much, got to 80 in 1 day 21 hours played. The extra armour and health really helps with survivability - also several ways to escape with stun, bubble, horsey etc.
I went to Outland at 60, Northrend at 70, Hyjal at 80 and Pandaria at 85 and so far have not had any issues that were not my own fault in impatience or stupidity. I didn't follow the general advice here regarding grinding dailies to avoid Cataclysm etc. Hyjal and Vash'jir got me from 80 to 85 with really no issues other than the Magma Monster quest at the end of Hyjal.
Currently working through Jade Forest getting close to 86.
Went Dwarf for stoneform but really have not made much use of that.
