Ouch IronGopher. Yeah those Fel Reavers are mean to us, let alone other monsters out there. Will see you climbing the charts again soon!

Thanks for your support. Got back in the saddle again this morning after taking a day away. "Steamglide" is taking up the challenge - aptly named after a certain household appliance. BTW - I found out how Master Cheng can kill you. If you stay in his circle of fire after he has beaten you, it will kill you. The challenge continues....... thanks for making me resume.

While trying to just "get a couple of quests in before work" this morning, my level 61 and first monk attempt was stupidly, stupidly, stupidly ended in Swamp of Sorrows to a barely green orc. Quest: Orcs and Humans ( www.wowhead.com/quest=27821) 1) I've never done that series of quests before 2) I was rushing, barely healing between fights since I was only on for a short time 3) I hadn't upgraded my gear yet, even though at 61 I had a full suit of upgrades available 4) Those orcs hit harder than the "Peons" in the questline before, but I didn't alter my style or speed 5) Since they hit a little harder, you had NPC "helpers" with you - who love to break crowd control and never draw aggro themselves. 6) I ran out of food on the last orc, and instead of healing to 100%, I pulled the orc with 60% health instead A perfect storm so to speak. So when I was down to ~10% and the orc still had ~30%, I tried Paralyze (monk sap) so I could bandage up - a tactic I frequently use. The helper NPCs broke it immediately. I panicked, and rolled away (twice). That actually would have worked, but those orcs have a charge-type ability, which made running away pointless. One or two shots later, I'm toast. So stupid and so avoidable. Some points: - I never hit shadowmeld. Why? I've never used shadowmeld once on this monk. Never needed it. When the time came for it, the thought never crossed my mind. - Why rush? Take 3 minutes and stock up on food, or at least bandage to full before the fight would have saved me. Impatience was fatal. - This was my first monk attempt, and I think it can be done. I hope to get back in the saddle soon and run a new one up over the upcoming holidays.

Froz, I did notice your absence earlier and I hoped you were going to come back and share the pain. So so sorry - it's hard work and very very sad to lose a character - particularly a class you have never played - so high up the ladder. Nice to hear you are back in the ring shortly. It IS a lovely class to play even though melee seems so hard. NPCs and other passing players are a pain with Paralyse when they break it. All the best with #2 - "Roll" on Froz.

Sorry to hear that, Frozboz. Rushing and ironman don't work together.

sorry to hear that Froz I've done all of swamp of sorrow with Xayatwesi, my 63 monk, and it's definitely not a good idea to hurry the quests around Stonard I know it's not much of a comfort, but Xayatwesi died because I also completely forgot about shadowmeld, that I had never used either... On Xayatweeig (and dead Xayatwesev), I use shadow meld from time to time, even if I don't think I really need it, just as to remember that it is there :-) Hope to see you soon on Wyrmrest Accord

Roguester here. SoS, especially that area can be tricky - especially the quest after that one, to pick up crates and kill Stonard orcs inside Stonard fort. Think it changes planes, but don't do it. People have been one-shot, my theory is that there's a Horde on 2nd floor or tower that is not out of phase.
Grats on making it to 61, do it again.
Oh - bring donuts. :-)

Sorry to hear of that Froz! Yeah I can also say all too well that sometimes we rush, get impatient and it costs us. I've certainly caught myself being "risky" and having to snap out of it after say, a fight below 20% and me saying what was I thinking there? But either way, wow, congrats on getting a Monk that far! Hopefully you'll be able to reroll and have smooth sailing all the way. I too ran out of food during some crocolisk quests in Tanaris and after the third or fourth one where I was at 50%, I'm like, NO, I need to stop and heal up. But as you said, it's seemingly so harmless in actual gameplay that it's so easy to forget and think something doesn't matter until it does.

Thanks, all. I've started over and with the help of some time off in the next couple of weeks I hope to regain most of what I lost.
