Level 86 Vashjir
Smoothing going so far. Although mobs take a long time to kill, they're not doing a lot of damage just as in Hyjal. I've been paying close attention to see if its possible to bring monk here. So far everything I have killed, I have been able to kill on the bottom which is what monk would require in order to heal.
I outsmarted the quest, "Totem Modification". I had to defend the totem. I couldn't kill the first mob before the last 3 spawned, so had 4 of them on me. But during the fight, quest completed, so I ran a little back & used shadowmeld & they despawned. I think I pally, I ran away & dropped agro. Pretty sure I could have killed all 4 with doing that, but sure was faster this way.
5 1/2 bars to go
Quests: 2133/3000 Kills: 12,540
Just finished the quest, "Overseer Idra'kess". I was not so sure about this quest. I did it on hunter, and I couldn't remember if I did it on pally. I looked up quest, & there were conflicting "how to's" And I didn't like that some had died. Now or never, here we go. I killed the 2 priestess first. While I was killing the last one, the raid warning came on to kill them. Boss isn't doing much damage, and his hp is coming down fairly quickly considering. Eventually the red slime appeared. I read I needed to kill one for the buff to get credit. Not sure if I did the killing. Boom, they were dead. But I did kite the boss over every slime, near every slime, anywhere a slime, dead or alive. Slimes are what kills him. Just not so sure what kills the slime. Anyway, was ez for an iron. 5 bars to go. Anxious to get to that door to see if it's glitched.
The quest, "Looking Forward", bugged /cry. I submitted a ticket in hopes blizz will fix it for me like they have done in the past. 3 1/2 bars to 87. I really don't think it's wise to go to Deepholm before 87, which leaves me with dailies and grinding.
Vashjir has gotten rather difficult & is giving me a headache. Mobs are starting to hit hard, almost like blizz forgot to nerf them with everything else. The fish & turtles for "Bio-Fuel" hit really hard, have to mana up after each kill, and the hammerhead gives a 5 sec stun while he beats the crap out of me, so I find it necessary to keep up a hot. Those nasty little horde for "Claim Korthun's End" like to beat me to a pulp too. To make sure I didn't agro them while fighting the fishies, I pulled them up since the horde guys are walking on the bottom. Not a technique that my monk can use should she ever come here. Grinding is looking better & better. Was terrified riding the sub, knowing it likes to glitch & take away underwater breathing. Was hoping if it did that aquatic form would work, but it didn't glitch.
Lyssan said Vashjir was slightly easier?? Hahaha, I don't think so. Lost part of my survivability by losing my instant flight form. Anyway, no point in crying. Have 2 bars to go to 87. Not sure if I will complete Vashjir if I ding 87 before I'm done, or go to Deepholm. I guess it depends on which quests I have left & if those mobs are hitting as hard as the last 2 quests. 1/2 my brain keeps saying, "play it safe, play it safe". The other 1/2 says, "don't stop now, hurry, hurry, quest, quest". Sigh.

OMG, wow, I can't believe it. Within 10 min. of opening a ticket, a gm had contacted me. Took him awhile to fix the wall, but wow, he did it. How's that for customer service? I shall now progress in Vashjir.
Wow, and his closing good-bye was, "good luck with the ironman challenge". I didn't even tell him I was ironman. I did ask him not to let me die while he was on my toon cuz I had no deaths. I guess he looked at my gear & knew I was ironman. It was such a pleasant experience. Now to get through Vashjir & live to tell about it.

Level 87 Deepholm
Hmmmm, think blizz forgot to scale druid's dps & heals with level. Just finished the first quest in Deepholm. Ouch, flayers hit hard. Kill, drink, kill, drink. The weapon I have is a 1h dagger from a drop. It was 10 dps higher than the cracked iron staff. Think I forgot to buy a weapon in Dal. Going to have to check to see if there's any better vendor weapon. Might also have to rethink my strat on druid in light of her wimpiness.
Those rock elementals for "The Earth Claims All" were kicking my butt. It took all my mana to kill it, and I had gotten the low mana warning. Decided to take the day off from deep & go grind instead. I went back today to get the 4 more I still needed. I finally figured out how to down them easily. They make a disarming sound effect when they are vulnerable. I made sure to have 5 combo points & full energy waiting for it. I still needed to heal quite a bit, but at least I wasn't in jeopardy.
I went back to Hyjal to kill Desperiona as the quest still gives 43k xp. I still couldn't down her before the buff fell off. I tried at least 10 times using every imaginable way I could think of. She doesn't do any damage after the initial damage to does, so whenever I was out of energy, I'd use faerie fire, make sure to keep up weakened armor. Didn't work. I will keep the quest & try again at 88 I guess. If I cant kill this boss, I have no idea how in the world will I be able to kill the boss to open Uldum.

Oh wow, that's terrible Tanee. 88, that really hurts. And so easy in Cata area. Where and which quest? (So others know to avoid.) I really had a rough time in AD. Trying to do Twighlight, and even at 89, every fight is a major fight needing to wait in-between for cooldowns. Might be a lot of dailies and holidays to get over to 90....
See you on the monk.

Thanks guys. I appreciate you all.
Cata is brutal. Seems once druid hit 86, her dps went down & the amount of heals went significantly down compared with the increase in hp. Prior to cata, I usually used rejuv one time during a fight, so mana was never an issue. Neither were heals as the initial rejuv (a hot for those not familiar with druid) was more like an instant heal as it was healing me for almost 1/2 hp. With 5 combo points up, I was hitting the mobs in wotlk for 6k to 12k with my finishing move. With cata mobs, that same move needed to be repeated 3 times before the mob was killed. Since the mobs were now taking so long to kill, I was using up most of my mana during the fight. That meant that an add could have dire consequences. It also meant that if there was a pat, I probably couldn't kill the mob before the pat made his rounds & would show up before I was finished.
While I was working on Deepholm, I continued doing wotlk dailies as well as some grinding. Druid is very op in wotlk. This gave me a false sense of strength & invincibility, so I never gained a full appreciation & respect for how weak I was in Deepholm.
At the time of my demise, I was working on 3 quests done in the same area at the same time: Hatred Runs Deep, Unsolid Ground, and Loose Stone. Hatred Runs Deep was the problem. You have to kill 12 mobs in an area where they are very close together & where there are a lot of pats. I failed to scout out the area to find the pat, and he showed up. To make matters worse, most are casters. I went oom by the time the first mob was down. Shadowmeld worked. The pat moved out of my sight, so I tried to align my camera vision to see if he had moved far enough away for me to move. Well, I did something wrong, & it took me out of shadowmeld & the pat proceeded to beat me silly. Then I panicked & ran. Not so smart in an area congested with mobs. So I picked up an additional mob.
So hindsight and an un-anxious brain, there are things I could have, should have, might have done & lived to tell about it. The first was to scout the area to know if/where the pat was. Secondly, shadowmeld. I am/was a druid. I have instant flight form. I should have come out of shadowmeld with an instant flight & even had the pat aggroed, it would have been too late for him because I would have been flying away. Thirdly, don't run in a congested area as you are bound to pick up more. I would have been better off fighting the last mob with a chance at winning or holding out long enough for shadowmeld to be off cd. And lastly, planning for the worst case scenario. Had I been mentally prepared for an add, I would not have panicked & I probably would not have made all the stupid mistakes that I had.
This death hit me really hard. It's been a long time since I've died to something I did wrong. Interestingly, when my monk died at 80 to dc, I was just angry. Same with dying to glitches. You yell, you scream, you curse the wow gods. When I died at 87 because I blew it, that was it. I quit. Not going to do it again. Takes way too long to get so high. Way too discouraging. I did a noob move & now it's over. But, that's not to be, at least yet.
I really enjoyed the druid, until cata that is. Initially (after a few days break) I started making a new druid on Wyrmrest. Got her to level 9. Then I realized that it didn't really make sense as I had a level 32 druid on Stormrage that also has a dmf bag. I also have a level 26 druid there too. The druid is now level 44 and 1/2 way through Dustwallow. After Dustwallow is completed, I plan to power level the monk through Azeroth. Then I will daily/holiday event her to 64 before going to Outlands. I feel without healing spheres, she would have little chance of success in Outlands.
Be safe and live long. I will see you all in a few days.

Thanks for the post, you're spot on in a number of things for other irons to consider... - First, yes, every major zone is different. Old world (0-62) is pretty easy. You can get into a comfortable routine of attack, running heal, attack next. Easy rhythm for taking down a mob. - Outlands, 62-72 is a wake up call. More tightly packed, not as easy, more elites roaming around that will squish the life out of you. (Darn Fel Reavers!) - Northend, 72-82 is a breath of fresh air compared to Outlands. Not as densely packed. The NPCs still hit hard, but manageable. - Cata, can and will be the death of you if you don't follow Tanee's advice. It is a mental game as much as anything. As a rogue, scouting around stealthed to understand where all the NPCs are, where are the pats, what's the escape route if things go wrong... Each fight is a calculated exercise in timing, resources, and planning. If you leave it up to chance/randomness, you'll die. - Something has changed in recent patches, Tanee described the same thing I'm experiencing with fights. Used to be a nice rhythm of attack, attack, recuperate, pounce on next while healing at same time, rinse, repeat. Not any more. Attack, attack, pop all talents including preparation (2nd evasion), remove armor, hurry 5 combo points, boom, but do all that 2-3 more times to take a normal NPC down. Now sit, eat food, wait for all cooldowns. No more rhythm. Bosses are to be avoided. - Before I'd start a fight, and if something went amiss, I'd keep going, knowing I can still take a 2nd NPC down. Not any more. I start a fight, and while fighting I take steps back to move away from the NPC's initial position. That way if I pop Shadow Meld or Vanish, the NPC will return to their initial position putting a safe distance from me and him. Now, if a fight goes amiss, like a pat comes along, the fight is not going good, I abort, wait, top off health, scout, try again when conditions are right. Yep, pain in the ass style of play, but if you want to survive, this is the kind of style/thinking you need.
Think that's it. Plan your fights when you get to Cata. Do research into quests before you start them. I almost did "Drop the Hammer" in Twighlight, fortunately I asked other Irons and looked it up. Would have been my death if I hadn't.

Oh Tanee! I am so sorry to see this. RIP for your poor druid. It has to feel so awful to lose one at that level - after going through so much to get there. Keep her to scout those last levels for you when you get back to there. You're so right about trying to figure out the pathing patterns and know which quests are more likely to do something horrible and unexpected. Thank you so much for warning about the ones you were doing. Cara is definitely very scary. And I've noticed the apparent change in Rejuv on my 80 druid after being away for 7 months. Something must have been changed at some point. I'm glad you have some others to try again, and I wish you the best with them and with your monk.

Level 46 Thousand Needles
Zone uneventful. Everything was easy. Just a reminder, when someone says a mob, a boss, a rare, a quest, or a zone is easy, not only is it class dependent, but it's also level dependent. Stealthing through to the mobs I needed was nice. I decided that the pirate area is much easier during peak hours, but because of stealth, wasn't an issue for druid. Didn't attempt the elite bosses at Freewind Post, but did the rest of the quests there. Dinged 48 here, but if it hadn't been for doing a few holiday dailies and a few more rares in Feralas, I wouldn't have made it to 48.
Off to Badlands, although I suspect because I dinged 48, the zone is too low for me now.

Level 48 Badlands
Turns out I wasn't too high for Badlands. Yikes, some of the mobs were yellow. Was a little worried about Angor Fortress because I died there once on a druid. I killed the boss to loot the chest behind him, only I forgot to loot the chest. So I had to go back, and unfortunately the boss had spawned again. While I was killing him, the rare spawned. Between the 2 of them, I went splat. So this this time there, I decided if the rare was there, I would wait for someone to get it as I don't think the rare can be pulled without the boss. But as luck would have it, all the mobs all the way to the chest were dead. Someone had just been through it. Woot.
I did find a rare on the way to the deathwing quest line. Some kind of wolf. He hit pretty hard, but at this point, rejuv heals instantly for what seems like 1/2 my hp. Deathwing quest line is the last I do in this zone, so it's pretty short/fast. Doing it got me 1-1/2 level. Afterwards, I went in to Searing Gorge & got the fp at Thorium Point. Hmmm, not sure I will get that fp on anything that can't stealth.
Off to Tanaris

Level 49 Tanaris
I think a lot of desparate people come here. So many times I have been here & someone tries to take credit for the scorpion, roc, or coyote after I have killed it, and today was no exception. Maybe the zone is more congested than the others, or maybe it's just because they can whereas in other places, there aren't quests that they do it. When it happened, I just moved on to a different area or quest.
That rare by cot was there again. It's a level 50 drake. I found it at 49 when I went there for discovery. Either my hunter, monk or druid tried to kill it in the past & failed. I had to run away. Wish I could remember which class couldn't kill it. I suspect it was that squishy monk, but it could have been a druid, so I passed on it.
I did the south end of Tanaris even though it was a little high for me & quests were yellow. One time I saved them for later, only by the time I got there again, I was on my way to Ungoro & the quests weren't worth it to do. There's only 5 or 6 quests there that go very quickly and give decent xp.
Level 50 and 14 bars. The zone is very short now that I don't do the blimp quest line. Its just at level 49 I don't want to take a chance with a quest that has glitched & killed me before. I'm probably being overly cautious. For awhile there, it was frequently dumping people off before they were done with quest. Sometimes with a parachute & sometimes without. It was such an issue, that I would think blizz fixed it. Hmmm, yet they haven't fixed that door in Vashjir, so maybe not.
Level 50 Felwood
Uneventful. Was able to kill any rare I came across & all bosses without issue. Long zone. Got to 54 here.

Level 54 Wintersprings
Got a drop I was so excited about!! It was a bag, and extra slots are always nice. And I knew lock shard bags were changed to regular bags when they no longer needed their shards. Woot, the bag was blue. Anxious to see how big a bag a blue one would be. What!! No, how can it be. A bag that looks like a bag & is called Six Demon Bag is a trinket?? What sort of April Fools prank is this that the wow gods have pulled on me. Lucky for me they ended up redeeming themselves a few kills later when a Traveler's Backpack dropped, a 16s bag. And even luckier still, when I was almost done with the zone, an owl beast dropped the Azure Whelpling. Oh, yeah. I'm probably not going to need any gold as I have 3k already, and I still have the Easter mount to sell. So I will just tuck it away until I decide what to do with it.
The owl beasts hit a lot harder then most other stuff, including rares, and they are a little harder to down. Had to use the finishing moving, Ferocious Bite, twice whereas before it only took once. Doesn't mean they were difficult, just took longer.
I was able to stealth by the 3-slime portal & the 3-ravager portal in the cave, although I think druid wouldn't have had too much trouble killing them as at this point, heals are phenomenal and dps is decent. Even the boss in the cave went down without too much trouble.
Went from 54 to 57 here. Hmmm, one or 2 more kills & I should ding. That includes doing 1 cub daily. 58 & off to Ungoro

Level 58 to 61 & 19 bars
Ungoro, uneventful. Gorilla boss was no problem. Nothing was actually. Didn't do the bug boss nor the bouquet quest that would eventually lead to a quest flagging me, so I'm told.
Blastedlands: Nothing hard. Even did Surwich before moving on to Silithus. Didn't do the last quest from the cave quest hub. Something about knocking me off the top of a pillar seemed a little distasteful.
Silithus: Wow, that scorpion boss was very easy. Druid dps was amazing on it considering the difficulty monk had. Had to kill a lot of mobs omw to the twilight boss. I could have stealthed past them, but I still needed 4 drops for another quest. When I got to the boss, he was dead. He has a bookoo long spawn timer. Well, it turned out to be to my advantage. All the mobs there spawned one at a time. I would almost had preferred it to be a normal situation so I could record what would normally happen. Wow, Brann's letter dropped on my first bug kill. I was planning how I was going to get the scraping in the hive. Someone had cleared all the way to the boss. But the boss's room was as busy as usually. Not sure if she summons these mobs to help her, or if she knocks you into them, so I decided it was safer to clear the room. Before I could finish, a druid ran in. I tried to explain to him to clear the room first & he could have the boss. Well, I guess he didn't read chat. So now that he had engaged the boss, I got my scraping. As I was leaving, I yelled out to make sure he interrupts the heals. I happened to run into this poor little druid a few times during the coarse of the zone, and I'm thinking he didn't down that boss.
Level 61 & 19 bars. Hmmm. Not where I really want to be to enter Outlands. Havent done children's week. I would prefer to do it close to the end. Oh, flower daily, haven't opened that up yet. That will get me to 62.
