I got to level 70, after a rather long break. I stayed in the classic zones until level 65, when quest reward dropped to 900 or so.
I went to Hellfire Peninsula, where I did almost all the quests, except "Hellfire Fortifications" (PvP) and "The Demoniac Scryer". This I think has some follow up, but it's a rather stupid quest as I remember from the previous runs and I didn't want to waste time on it. Outland is pretty brutal, I almost died in a cave, during "Beneath Thrallmar". I said I wouldn't go into caves, but I can't help myself. The dude in there, Urga'zz, hits like a truck and also has some stupid AoE that almost killed me. I stayed in Hellfire Peninsula until level 67.
Next was Zangarmarsh, I've done all the quests except the Daggerfen Village ones. Chieftain Mummaki has 2 additional mobs, so no. Then there are a lot of hidden assassins that will ambush and they did a lot of damage before the patch, I didn't want to taste it now at the same level. I also had the closest death experience in this run, again in a cave, during "Safeguarding the Watchers". Lord Klaq has some mobs around and even though they were fighting the sporelings when I attacked one I got three to aggro. First time I had to feign death and try again. Second time I managed to kill them all after a pet revive and a feign death. Traps don't work on those stupid things only briefly. I finished the things here at 69.
Next and current one is Nagrand. Nothing out of the ordinary, I can't wait to do some cave quests lol... I will probably have to skip a couple of quests, but I hope this zone will take me to 72, if something stupid doesn't kill me. Then I think I'll go to Terokkar Forest, but that zone has more tricky quests that I will need to skip...

The additional thing that's frustrating is that if you DC or anything else around a group of mobs you're dead. It used to be you could be several levels above the mobs in the area and still survive.

I just boosted a normal to 110. I went thru timeless isle to get to draenor, but the quests to open my garrison were not available, I had to do the scenario. Not sure if that way is still open for irons...
Edit : the way is still open, the starting quest is where the boat is, not at the garrison site

I got to 85. I stayed in Outland until level 76, in the following zones:
69-72 Nagrand 72-73 Terokkar Forest 73-74 Shadowmoon Valley 74-75 Blade Edge's Mountains 75-76 Netherstorm
The questing in Netherstorm and Shadowmoon Valley became very risky, the mob density is ridiculous. I moved to Northrend and did a full explore that got me into 77. After that I did random zones with mostly outdoor fetching quest with the goal of getting to 81 as soon as possible. After 81 things became again easy and got to 85 without even entering Storm Peaks and with Icecrown just until the Crusaders' Pinnacle. With enough patience there is one more level to do but the experience for a quest is only 1500 so it would take probably around 6 hours to complete it. So I decided to try my luck in Cata zones, Mount Hyjal was first, and it's again hard. No idea how I will get to 91 considering the stupid game design with flowing quests and risky blocking points. Before the patch I had to deal with only 1 level in both Cata and Panda before getting into the OP mode.

I've just got to 94, and tried a little of WoD (it sucks ass).
From 85 I used the following route. I stopped in each zone at some questionable quests, because I don't have a scout.
85-86 Mount Hyjal 86-87 Deepholm 87-89 Uldum 89-92 Explore Pandaland / Random quests 92-93 The Jade Forest 93-94 Treasures / Random quests
As for WoD, of course I skipped the intro through Timeless Isle, then got the garrison quest, which is still there. I got a few treasures on the way to Frostfire Ridge, which also almost killed me lol. Then the big elite for the garrison is retarded, killed my pet several time, Thrall is a useless cunt, like the worst tank ever, not to mention that he also breaks the ice traps like a pro.
So now I have the garrison active but went back to Pandaland to chill there for maybe 1-2 more levels. Then I have no idea how to proceed because the world is infested with very high hp mobs. At 94 I have around 32k hp and a level 93 normal mob has 63k hp, but many mobs are on steroids for example the 8 mobs I had to kill for the garrison quest had 127k, it's actually worse than the Legion zones I had to deal before. The experience is around 14k per quest, which means around 40 quests per level without kill xp. Maybe I'll just wait for rested xp and go bloodthirsty until 101, maybe things get easier. I also noticed that the Panda power increase after level 91 is not at the same level as it was before the patch, you still have to work for your kills. The difference is that the kill experience still exists.

So I died at 99 in Highmountain. I was killing some bears and is seems they have a debuff called Boil Back. www.wowhead.com/spell=220475/boil-back#comments"Boilback Bristlefur will cast poison areas, if you touch them they have a chance to Boil Back you, this debuff cannot be dispelled and you will start taking damage until you die. Unless you log out." The "poison area" was pretty much green on green so yeah So in conclusion, I think this was my last Ironman, I would say the changes from 7.3.5 made this challenge borderline insane and kinda unfun. Even the Legion zones that were pretty brutal are now completely retarded. Before the patch it took two consecutive mobs to kill my pet, now I have to revive the pet every single time. It's doable, but it's basically forcing you to go bloodthirsty style, because doing most quests now it's impossible. Also many of the objective zones are pretty much impossible...

Good effort mosotti, thanks for all the info you provided. Like you I have decided to give up on the Ironman challenges for now as they are not as fun anymore. Hopefully they will become fun again sometime in the near future!

RIP Mosotti
yeah it is now almost not fun. Not very optimistic about the chances to get to 120...

Has anyone successfully completed the intro chain to Draenor since the patch? Also, which is easier at 60, Outlands or Northern?
Thanks.

I don't think there's even a reason to try the intro to Draenor. I tried it once before the patch at level 90 and it was pretty impossible after some point, unless you waited for someone to help, I can only imagine that now it's absolutely impossible.

Why so little experience to kill Mor'Ladim vs Stitches?

Why so little experience to kill Mor'Ladim vs Stitches? Mor'Ladim and his XP were nerfed in some long ago patch/xpac. I just think they forgot to up his XP again while raising the difficulty again.

So since the Ironman is pretty much undoable for me, or practically impossible, I've decided to make my latest casualty a tin man and keep going. So glad that was put in place.
