Reading this really gave me a flashback trip to Cata when Gutrot was showing his rock hard abs all round Azeroth. And on that note I need to revisit Azeroth Daily and Blueplz.

Mage and petless Hunter have reached Level 26, and Warrior is dead at 25.
Finishing off all level 18 (or lower) quests on my level 25 characters.
Was doing the quest in Loch Modan where you enter a cave with a bunch of mechanical birds. Had no problems on my Druid scout. Had no problems on my Mage.
Started the quest on my Warrior. Killed a mob near the entrance when the rare bird Optimo ran up and attacked. He(?) had more health than the regular mobs in the cave, and I was damaged from recent combat, so I felt being so close to the exit the wise choice was just to run. I ran, and ran, ... and ran, and still he followed. Used my Quaking Palm to stun him and make my getaway, but he was immune. Tried a bandage for a little extra health, but amounted to very little. Ran and did my best to avoid aggroing any other mobs, but just could not shake that damn bird.
Couldn't believe how far he chased me. Must have really had a taste for some Panda flesh. Quaking Palm is really the only escape ability my Panda Warrior has, and had I known my stun ability wouldn't work on him I might have avoided that quest for a few more levels.
Thought long and hard about doing that quest on my petless Hunter, but as a Night Elf with Shadowmeld, and even more caution, thought I'd give it a try, and kept a very close eye on Optimo. Very cautious and patient, kept to the edges of the passage and found some nooks and crannies to cower in while Optimo ran past, and got in and out of the cave without incident.
Disappointed in the loss of my Warrior, but not as disappointed as I expected. Been a lot of recent success with warriors lately (although not naked) so I felt I had less to prove. Still have my Mage and my petless Hunter (which is my real interest).
Things are getting more difficult. Still think 30 is doable, but less sure than I was a few levels back. Even at 26 now, there are a few quests in the teens (16, 17, 19) that are still undoable, and they are holding up some quest chains. Working on Level 19 quests now and may have to move on to the next tier of zones (20-25) soon.

Nakedman Challenge - Which race to play?I chose Pandas for my Nakedman attempts because of the rested bonus bonus (they get double rested bonus) since I plan to only level while I am rested. ... link Rethinking my choice of Panda for my naked characters. While the extra rested bonus is nice, beyond the first ten levels, I am usually significantly higher in level than the mobs I am killing meaning the experience I receive is significantly less. By level 20, most mobs I fight are gray to me, meaning zero experience. By the mid twenties, I have exhausted all of the gray quests and everything else is at least green, but the mobs I am fighting, even for green quests, are often gray. Additionally, having multiple naked characters to play, I switch regularly, so others build up rested bonus while one plays. I don't think I have been out of rested bonus since the early teens so this isn't really providing the benefit I had hoped. Also, the Quaking Palm ability which certainly was useful early on to stun the mob, and either bandage or run, isn't as reliable as I'd like. My Warrior died at 25 partly because the named mob I was fighting was immune to my stun. If I can't rely on an ability in serious situations, then it's not worth having, even if it's useful in less dangerous circumstances. In light of these experiences, and for lack of any better options, I think trying to find a replacement race in place of Night Elf is futile. Many situations where I wish I could Shadowmeld. Fortunately, my naked petless Hunter is a Night Elf, and alive and well.

Panda Mage and Night Elf petless Hunter have reached Level 30!
Upgraded to the level 20-25 tier of questing zones (Ashenvale, Duskwood, Wetlands), and completed all gray quests.
Can manage the lowest level green quests, but not much higher. If it requires killing a named mob, usually have to wait until it is gray.
I am a number of levels higher than the mobs I generally encounter (22,23 or so at level 30) so my aggro radius is pretty small. This allows me to do quests of the gather or delivery variety, but anything that requires combat can only be the lowest level green quests (22 at 30).
I can handle the lowest level mobs that give experience (22) in a one-on-one fight leaving me around 25-30% health (sometimes more, sometimes less), but if adds join or anything goes wrong, it's time to beat a hasty retreat.
My Druid scout is really coming in handy since some of the lowest level green quests are very risky and need to wait until gray. Once I run out of doable quests I'm thinking about finding an area with some neutral mobs of the lowest level that grant experience and grinding out the remainder of a level.
Think I can manage a few more levels, and mage more than hunter, but I'd be amazed to make it to 35. We shall see.

Starting to feel some pain from my choice of race for my Mage.
The allure of Pandas has diminished. Had a few situations where even freeze, blink, sheep abilities weren't enough to feel safe (although situations that extreme have been rare), and really missed Shadowmeld in those circumstances.
The addition of Freezing Trap on my Hunter seems very powerful, if I have the patience to use it properly.
Freezing Trap allows me to trap a mob, back off far enough to bandage (even if it's a ranged mob), and reengage when ready. The trap lasts for 60 seconds, which is just long enough for bandages to cooldown, so as long as a mob doesn't one-shot me, I could potentially survive quite a battle (provided the mob isn't immune to my trap). And there is always Shadowmeld if something goes really wrong.
Since I have exhausted all of the gray quests, the leveling speed feels faster with green quests, although the additional experience required for each additional level, and possibly the need to grind some mobs, may slow that back down.
Thought 30 was doable, and I've done that, although 40 seems extremely unlikely.

Mage dead at 31.
Previously mentioned missing Shadowmeld, which would have helped, but can only blame myself for some bad decisions and execution.
Quest in Ashenvale in an underground barrow. Didn't want to bother with mobs 11 levels below my since my aggro radius was so small and I could just run by them if I was careful.
Completed quest and on my way out. In combat with a mob when a patrolling mob decided to join the fray.
Even 11 levels above a mob, battles eat a lot of my health and take quite a while, so a second mob is troublesome.
Being underground, I couldn't just run since I had to pass several mobs in the narrow tunnel on the way out and didn't want four or five mobs on my tail. Tried to handle the mobs while staying between the mobs in front of and behind me in the tunnel.
Frost Nova was useless since they were casting mobs. Tried Sheep but that doesn't work on Undead. Blink was no good since I might get past and away from some mobs only to run into more in the tunnel on the way out. Quaking Palm might have been helpful, but not enough, and a miss timed interrupted bandage didn't help either.
After the fact I thought about using Ice Block. Never used it before so wasn't in the front of my mind during the high stress high pressure situation. Even if I had used it, I suspect it would have done nothing more than delay the inevitable.
I went from a very manageable easy situation, to very dangerous when that patrolling mob came along. This is a perfect reminder that things for an Iron can change in an instant.
Disappointed, but not overly so. Think 31 is a pretty good run for a naked mage. Thought a couple more levels would be possible, but options are becoming more limited. Even some of the lowest level quests available are undoable, and getting to the point that I might need to starting grinding out a level.
Still have my petless naked Hunter at 31, and Freezing Trap has added a new very powerful ability to my repertoire.
All other characters have really been scouts for my Hunter, which is still going strong, although not sure how much further I can get, but alive and well for now.

Naked Night Elf petless Hunter alive and well at 34.
Since gaining Freezing Trap (at 28) and Feign Death (at 32) I feel reinvigorated.
With such a small aggro radius, I can usually manage to only pull a single mob, and with Freezing Trap I can freeze and bandage as many times as I need. Froze and bandaged five times in a single battle with one named mob.
If something goes wrong, I can always Feign Death to escape, and if something goes wrong with that, I can Shadowmeld. And with only a 30 second cooldown, it isn't that long until I can Feign Death again.
Was thinking 40 was undoable before, but now it's my new goal.

Naked Night Elf petless Hunter dead at 35.
Headed into Stromgarde Keep in Arathi and didn't see any mobs at all. Wasn't having any lag, or any other problems, but I thought I should err on the side of caution and retreat. Got to a safer(?) place and was immediately hit with a dozen or so attacks. Dead. And I never even saw a mob.
If I had been having any problems I never would have left camp (been logging out a lot recently for that very reason). Things had been going very well and I didn't see any obstacles to further advancement.
Maybe I should have just Feigned Death which would have given me a few minutes for the game to catch up, but hindsight is 20/20.
Since it takes so long for me to level, I don't know that I have the time to level up before the expansion hits, and with the coming changes, I think the Naked Challenge will be less difficult, so I have lost some interest.
Don't know what my next steps will be but this may be my final retirement.
Best of luck to all.
Enjoy.

My current subscription is up in a few days, and due to real life issues, I need to take some time off, but I'm finding it hard to completely let go.
I was thinking the expansion would make things too easy for my Naked Challenge with a forced spec. Many abilities require an equipped weapon (or a shield) and since I won't be using either, I won't be getting those benefits, so maybe the difficulty will remain (I think).
As I stated before, ranged/caster classes have an advantage since the damage they deal is from their spell abilities, whereas melee classes are from their weapon, which in this case would be unarmed combat (auto-attack).
I had gone with a petless Hunter, which I thought was even harder than a Warrior, and it was. But at 28 you get Freezing Trap (and Feign Death at 32) which allowed me to trap a mob and bandage myself (as many as five times for a single battle), which made things way too easy.
Also, Shadowmeld is just too powerful (and Feign Death and Vanish), so Night Elf is out. Nothing to fear from entering a cave with no safe escape routes, or room to run, if you can just drop aggro and escape combat with the press of a button.
I decided to create a Draenei Warrior for if (when?) I come back. So far up to level 3, and gathering rested bonus.

I forgot you can continue to play for free up to level 20, so after my subscription expired, I of course HAD to level up to 20 before officially focusing on the non-virtual world.
Fenakwariv, my naked Draenei Warrior, is up to level 19, with completed quests ready for turn in to raise me to 20.
Maximized my experience by always having rested bonus.
Began the level 10-20 zones.
Bloodmyst - completed most of the non-combat quests only, mostly explored Darkshore - completed the bread crumbs and one non-combat quest, no exploration Loch Modan - completed several non-combat quests only, exploration complete Westfall - completed some quests, but many more to go, exploration complete completed some other bread crumbs (Redridge, Wetlands, Duskwood)
Should easily be mid-twenties before completing the 10-20 zones.
In pretty good shape should I return.

Took care of some real world issues and thought I'd reward myself with another month.
Fenakwariv going strong at 20, but I felt as a Draenei he was overpowered with a healing ability, so I created Fenakwarv, a Gnome Warrior.
The Gnome racial Expansive Mind is completely useless for a Warrior without a weapon who has no need for Rage, and Escape Artist is a completely defensive ability that does not make me more powerful, or give me a buff, but removes a movement impairing debuff if one has been placed upon me.
I think this is about the weakest racial for a Naked Warrior.
Completed exploration of the four starter zones (and a few extra tidbits), and every non-combat quest I came across and reached level 8.
Time to sit back and let my rested bonus build up to maximize my experience before continuing. Did engage in a couple unexpected combats and lost out on about 300 experience after chewing up what little rested bonus I had already accrued.
Back to the Draenei. Have some rested bonus which should last a while as I work my way through gray quests, on to green and beyond. By the time my rested bonus runs out my Gnome should be ready for more.
