So many quests that would not normally be a problem are suddenly the death sentence. I just die doing "Who's in charge here" in Loch Modan at level 48. Time to play another game. I'm so sorry

Yeah I'm sorry, but my level 102 was prepatch. There's no way the playtime would be anything like that now. Everything takes longer and is slower now.

Apparently im too bad for the iron man challenge. I've made 6 Rogues now and none of those made it past 30. (ud 15, ud 11, be 14, be 21, be 29, nb 24 [if i recall correctly]). while i learned and accepted after four deaths to better skip elite mobs/group quest i am still having a hard time skipping the things i now know is dangerous and can kill me. i'd much rather face a difficult enemy than skip it, but thats propably not how you get far in iron man. Not quite sure what to do now, wether to do a tinman or if i can change enough to take myself further in an ironman attempt. but reading about all those deaths here, that weren't self "inflicted" really makes me wonder if its worth it. i myself disconnect quite frequently (some examples are dismounting and landing whith a glider - which not necessarily influence a challenge, but if those can happen, other not expected disconnects can aswell). i wish there was a challenge that would encourage players to engage in difficult encounters rather than to skip them, but i sadly have no idea how one could compare players in a challenge like that. Make a tin man and an ironman together. Test every quest on your tinman, then follow with your ironman. When you come across a quest that's very difficult, complete it a few times on your tin just to make sure you can do it before bringing in your iron. If you really can't complete the quest on your tin, then skip it on your iron. This strategy got me to 102, with 28 deaths on my tin. That's 28 deaths where I would have had to start over. Every time I felt like doing everything twice took too long, I reminded myself that every death on my tin was a death avoided on my Iron. Course, I did die at 102, because something went wrong with my Iron that didn't go wrong with my tin while I was testing, but things like that happening is the nature of the challenge. (With the quest that killed me, I really should have tested the quest a little more on my tin - I was stupid not to.)

Highmountain or Nightborn? Nightborne. Wine drinking horde loving revolutionaries are my people.

Honestly I think the Allied Races, DK's and DH's should all just be excluded from the challenge. There is no way to track if they re-equip green gear after 'removing' it... the character stats still will say 'X' number of slots equipped with greens. Past practice has shown people will abuse that fact. I mean, they kinda are excluded already. They have their own lists, with very few people bothering with them. I was just thinking of adding a Nightborne challenger to my two Pandas, partly for scouting, partly for fun.

Level 20.
Allied races are so much fun, I can't even think of seriously working on my iron right now, but I did spend a little time on her today.
A series of quests in Sen'jin village sends you into Northwatch Hold. Noticed, on my tin, that the soldiers in that hold hit damn hard, so caution would be needed. Took in my iron. Another player was also questing in the area. Didn't give that much thought as I headed to pick up one of the quest objects. It's guarded by two NPCs. Shot a frost trap at the one further away, then attacked the one closer to me. The other quester also attacked the one closer to me, so I switched to the one further away, breaking him out of the ice trap. Suddenly I'm dealing with two soldiers, alone, my health is failing fast, and my pet is dead.
That rat bastard of another player had run on ahead, leaving me to deal with both soldiers, so that he could pick up the quest object.
I managed to survive with barely an inch of my life left. There's no doubt that things are almost stupidly hard now, and I haven't even approached the bits where it's supposed to be impossible. We'll see how far this iron gets.

RIP Discordiron, 0-102I'm not even sure what happened. I reached 102 by collecting treasures, then decided to do a little questing in Frostfall Ridge. Tested a quest chain out on my tin, and completed it no problem. Moved over to my Iron, and the boss from the final quest killed me in a matter of seconds. So that's the end of my second major attempt. So long, Ironman. See you again maybe next year. That sux; almost as bad as getting to 107 and getting redflagged for accidentally equipping a non-white/gray item. I would die. I mean, obviously, but that is so terrible.

I imagine it'll be quite a headache to add them to the challenge. Are there plans to add them at some point though?

There's a lot of complaints on the forums about WoD scaling and how impossible it's made certain quests even for fully geared players. I wouldn't be surprised if they readjust things again at some point. I don't see things staying this impossible forever.

Thanks all. It still hurts like hell, but what can you do. And, to be perfectly honest, it was so easy this time, I felt like the ride I was getting was far too easy for it to really count as ironman.
I've created a couple of Pandas to gently, and very slowly, test the waters with the new level scaling. Am currently in Tirisfal Glades and level 18. Extremely distracted by Legion content though, so I wont be playing my iron nearly as religiously as I did before.

For the record, the Elixir of Shadows, in Terrokar Forest, has always flagged you. I'm glad you mentioned this one though. It didn't flag my iron or my tin when elixirs were still allowed. Moot anyway, as those quests are probably impossible with 7.3.5.

World of Shadows and the following quests, part of the Skettis quests in Terokkar Forest, Outlands, requires using an Elixir of Shadows. Quest cannot be completed without the elixir. Did you test if these flag you? Nope. I did this quest before the rule was in place. However, I checked my statistics, and it stated that this elixir counted as an elixir.
